antiMusic reports: Melodic Rock is reporting
that Van Halen are going ahead with their planned reunion tour with David
Lee Roth. The band now consisting of David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex
Van Halen and Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen have reportedly gotten together
and are "penciling in" dates and venues for what Melodic Rock says will
be a US tour starting in September. No official word has come out yet.
In February, after much hype and tentative
announcements the planned Van Halen reunion tour was called off. The band
then cancelled plans to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction
ceremony.
What happened? In March Eddie Van Halen
entered rehab for a month long stay to be treated for alcohol-related problems.

Blabbermouth reports: A 22-year-old man is
in critical condition after jumping from a bridge during SLAYER's headlining
show at the Metaltown festival in Gothenburg, Sweden late Saturday night
(June 30), according to GT.
The Göta-Älv bridge is located
just opposite the main stage and a lot of people stand on the bridge and
watch the performances from a distance.
SLAYER was about an hour into its show
when the 22-year-old man and a friend stripped down to their underwear.
As the crowd cheered on, the two counted down and were about to jump off
when one of them decided not to go through with the "joke" and watched
as his friend hurled himself from the 30-meter-high bridge. When the jumper
didn't resurface, his friend screamed that someone should call the emergency
number 112. The jumper was later found unconcious in the water and medical
personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him. He was
rushed to the emergency room and is currently in critical condition.-

Rockdirt reports: Belgium's Studio Brussel
caught up with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich at the 2007 Rock Werchter
Festival over the weekend, where he talked about the band's forthcoming
album.
Lars said the backing tracks were done
in May and will start vocals and overdubs in August hoping to finish in
October or November.
Lars predicted the album will drop in February
2008. He said, "It doesn't sound like 'St. Anger' to me. It's a little
early to kind of put in a soundbite exactly. But it doesn't sound anything
like 'St. Anger'. It's probably a little more dynamic, and a little more
varied, and it has lots of different nutty Metallica stuff on it. I don't
know."- more
