antiMusic reports: Drowning Pool's new CD
'Full Circle' hits stores this week and to celebrate we have asked frontman
Ryan McCombs to tell us a little bit about his favorite five songs from
the CD. Here is Ryan with his take on the track " Soldiers".
This track was our response to what we
saw and experienced on our first trip to the gulf in 2005. We had the honor
of visiting and playing for US troops fighting in Iraq at the time. We
were extremely moved by the stories that we heard that the song just came
poring out at the next rehearsal. We instantly felt part of such a great
family that we had to give something back, a "thank you" if you will. A
tip of the hat. The song, though originally only intended to be given away
as a free download to our troops through the USO Myspace page, has opened
doors to new opportunities for us to help. We teamed up with the IAVA (Iraq,
Afghanistan Veterans Of America) in the "This Is For The Soldiers" campaign.
The campaign's to raise awareness to some of the wrongs being done by the
U.S. government to our returning troops.
WWW.THISISFORTHESOLDIERS.ORG is a website
where anyone can learn about what they can do to let our troops out there
know we care and we haven't forgotten them. I'm thankful that we did the
song and the fact that Mikes upbeat pattern on the song slays is icing..

antiMusic reports: Could it be? Will Maynard
James Keenan's side project, Puscifer, finally release their debut album?
Billboard seems to think so and they are reporting that the long in the
making effort, now titled "V is for Vagina" will finally hit stores the
day before Halloween.
Keenan has been working on the project
for a number of years and according to Keenan's MySpace page, the band
members include "Maynard James Keenan and a revolving door of talented
people. The current list of guest musicians... Renholdër (Danny Lohner),
Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Josh Eustis, Satan, and more...". Keenan
has worked on Puscifer material most recently with Lustmord, Jonny Polonski,
Tim Alexander, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk among others according to Wikipedia
and Billboard lists Alan Moulder as producer/mixer.- more

CMJ reports: While most kids used to learn
about cool music from their older brothers, it seems that MTV, the quintessential
teenage tastemaker, might begin to assume the role of a second, more ominous
sibling in the coming months-Big Brother.
The cultural icon and reality show incubator
will begin monitoring its audience's observational habits with the implementation
of second-by-second viewership analysis courtesy of TNS Media Research,
intended by the network's corporate parent company Viacom to help the conglomerate
more effectively schedule advertising breaks aimed at youth markets.
TNS, which obtains its data from monitoring
the behavior of approximately 300,000 digital cable subscribers in the
L.A. area, pitches its technology as both a more accurate reflector of
channel-surfing habits than the minute-by-minute analysis already conducted
by Nielsen- more

antiMusic reports: If you thought you would
never see a classical music concert filled with generation x'ers you better
think again. When the man behind the orchestra performances is a Radiohead
star you can expect a lot of people under 40 to be in attendance when it
hits the States.
Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood plans
a U.S. performance early next year but it's not a alt rock n roll extravaganza
that fans will be paying to see. Instead they will be treated to Greenwood's
classical music piece "Popcorn Superhet Receiver" which he wrote for the
BBC in 2005.
Greenwood premiered the compisition in
November of last year in London and it will make it's U.S. debut in January
of next year at New York City's St. Paul The Apostle church during the

antiMusic reports: The Cure is further away
than we thought. The legendary alternative band has pushed back the release
of their 14th studio album yet again. We expected it in May, then were
told we'd have to wait until October. Now it looks like we will have to
wait until next year.
So race is on. Will the new Cure album
hit stores before Guns N' Roses 'Chinese Democracy'? Most likely, but fans
expecting the album this year are to be disappointed as a Geffen Records
spokesperson told Reuters Thursday that the album probably won't hit stores
until April or May of next year.- more

antiMusic reports: Velvet Revolver were afraid
they were going to lose their top hat'd guitarist to Axl Rose when a press
release surfaced hinting that Slash was to rejoin Guns N' Roses. While
GNR reunion reports are about as numerous as release dates for 'Chinese
Democracy,' Slash's VR bandmates were afraid that this time they were going
to lose their most famous member.
Slash left Axl and Guns N' Roses over a
decade ago and a few years back he formed Velvet Revolver along with other
former GNR members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Sleazeroxx is reporting
that a press release made Slash's bandmates fear for their future as a
band.
"I was sitting at home writing songs when
I heard Axl had put out a press release saying in so many words that I
was going back,' Slash said according to Sleazeroxx. "There had been a
lot of s%&t going around, stories about me and Axl, but what made this
so bad was that it seemed so factual. The guys were worried, angry even.

big enough to play the role of the Notorious B.I.G. on the big screen.
So producers opted to give the role to an unknown instead. Do you have
what it takes to fill these big shoes?
Fox Searchlight Pictures has been working
on the bio pic, entitled "Notorious," for years and have yet to find the
perfect actor to play the famed rapper. So they decided that an open casting
call was in order. While the official announcement won't be made until
Friday, they tipped off the Associated Press about it a day early. So get
your video auditions in order because submissions begin this Sunday at
3 a.m. at http://www.biggiecasting.com.- more
