Axl Almost Broke Up Velvet Revolver?

08/10/07
.
(antiMusic) Velvet Revolver were afraid they were going to lose their top hat'd guitarist to Axl Rose when a press release surfaced hinting that Slash was to rejoin Guns N' Roses. While GNR reunion reports are about as numerous as release dates for 'Chinese Democracy,' Slash's VR bandmates were afraid that this time they were going to lose their most famous member.

Slash left Axl and Guns N' Roses over a decade ago and a few years back he formed Velvet Revolver along with other former GNR members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Sleazeroxx is reporting that a press release made Slash's bandmates fear for their future as a band.

"I was sitting at home writing songs when I heard Axl had put out a press release saying in so many words that I was going back,' Slash said according to Sleazeroxx. "There had been a lot of s%&t going around, stories about me and Axl, but what made this so bad was that it seemed so factual. The guys were worried, angry even.

"I had to sit them down and tell them it wasn't true. They were still a bit skeptical as it seemed so detailed. We got through it but it was an unexpected bump in the road. I didn't expect to go there with something that was so much part of my past".

In other Velvet Revolver news, the band is now selling meet-and-greet packages to fans for $250. What do you get for your money? A VIP laminate, personal photograph with the band, an 8x10 poster and an autograph.
