Slipknot Won't Replace Paul Gray
When John Bonham died, the other members of Led Zeppelin decided it wouldn't be right to carry on as a band with another member taking his place. Apparently Slipknot feels the same way but they still plan to carry on instead of breaking up like Zeppelin.

Rock Radio reports: Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison says the band will continue without tragic bassist Paul Gray, and won't replace him with a new full-time member.

Instead band members will play bass on new studio recordings, and they'll look at options for a touring musician when the time comes. But frontman Corey Taylor, who plays Sonisphere this weekend, is less clear on the band's future. - more on this story

Ozzy Osbourne Explains Iron Maiden Feud
Rock Radio reports that Ozzy Osbourne has explained Sharon's reasoning behind the infamous egg tossing episode at Ozzfest where Sharon organized the sabotage of Iron Maiden's set at the southern California stop in 2005.

Ozzy tells his side of the incident: "Unbenown to me, every night Bruce Dickinson was going on stage slagging me off, and that wasn't fair," Ozzy said

"I never said a bad thing to him. The bass player came round at the last gig and said, 'I'm sorry about Bruce,' and I'm like, 'What are you talking about?' Nobody had told me." Ozzy continues. "So Sharon got pissed off. I didn't know what was going down, but I'll back my wife to the hilt."

Max Cavalera Discusses Sepultura Reunion and Jackass Fred Durst
Rock Radio has the inside story of why the failed Sepultura reunion never came to pass and how Max Cavalera feels about teaming up with Fred Durst early in the Limp Bizkit's career. Here is part of their report:

Max Cavalera tried but failed to stage a classic lineup reunion of Sepultura – but he says he'll try again when the time is right after talks with guitarist Andreas Kisser stalled. He also says he regrets his collaboration with Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, because the rap-rocker turned out to be a "jackass".

The frontman left Sepultura in 1996 amid internal tensions which have never been fully explained, but are believed to be connected with the band sacking his wife from her management role. "I thought the time for a reunion was good. Everybody's alive, everybody's here. So I decided to call Andreas to see if we could get it happening," Cavalera tells PyroMusic.net. "It didn't really go anywhere. He demanded a lot of unreal things, stuff that wasn't negotiable. So I just hung up the phone and said, 'I'll try again later, another time'." - Now find out about that jackass comment.

Breaking The Par With Judas Priest Star
We teased you about this in yesterday's digest, but Gibson.com's Michael Wright has more details about the Judas Priest golf course: Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing has been more concerned with breaking par these days than breaking the law. Downing has designed a new golf course near his home, Astbury Hall, outside Bridgnorth, England. The 150-acre course will be opened to the public in mid-September, according to the Shropshire Star.

Downing told the paper, "Astbury Hall has been borne from my experiences on golf courses from around the world. I am fortunate enough to have played some of the finest the world has to offer and I feel privileged to have been able to create a property that encompasses all my cherished experiences."

He continued, "I have been lucky to work in two industries that have allowed me to be so creative, especially golf course architecture, which has enabled the visions in my head to be transformed beautifully into a reality." - more on this story

Singled Out: Atomic Tom's The Moment
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Luke White from Atomic Tom tells us about the title track to their new album "The Moment," which hit digitally this week. We now turn it over to Luke for the story:

My friend Ben and I were sitting in my apartment listening to glitter pop and drinking homemade mango margaritas planning our pop-world dominance. We perused our vast warehouse of guilty pleasures and discovered a gaping void. It was time to bring the Power Woman to the forefront. As men, it was our turn to be rescued, our turn to be the dude in distress, our turn to be helpless and alone!

Guitars in hand, we forged the song in the fires of pop gods before us, building our melodic tower piece by piece. And soon, the song started to build itself. It became a monster we could no longer control. It broke through my frail, paper-thin apartment door and leaped over Manhattan. It's out there roaming, pillaging, conquering ears, hearts and souls. We've sent warriors after it, tragically, to their doom. They, along with a growing mass of so called music lovers, follow this monster to the ends of the earth. Singing.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album and watch their hilarious videos - right here!

Dave Navarro Discusses Progress On The New Jane's Addiction Album
Gibson.com recently spoke with Dave Navarro to find out about the Jane's Addiction reunion, his new guitar for Epiphone, and his burgeoning career as a sex and love advice columnist. Here is an excerpt where he discusses progress on the new Jane's Addition album:

What's happening with the new Jane's album? We're in process of recording and I just tracked some stuff with [his new signature model] Epiphone about two weeks ago. I wanted some bright percussive acoustic coloring underneath some dirty distorted rock guitars to kind of widen it out a bit and have the notes be a little more articulated. So I used it for that. And, you know, Duff McKagen from Guns N' Roses is in the band now, so we had a real creative burst over the past few months working with a new guy and having an all-new energy on board. I'm really excited about it.

Are you enjoying working with them again? Oh, yeah, yeah. One of the fortunate things for me is that having been in and out of this so many times, after a point you realize, this is what I do, this is the home that I'm gonna be in. At the end of the day, we may have taken five or six-year hiatuses, but we've never really broken up. And the beautiful thing now is we're all really unified as a band, but we also have our own personal identities and directions and lives and interests so we all have plenty of time to do Jane's Addiction, for the most part, full-time and also be able to do other projects that interest us individually. We didn't have that luxury in the old days. - Now about the sex advice column and new guitar, read all about it here

After 6 years, countless tours, and 5 albums with Dr. Dog the time had come to part ways and for Juston to realize his own musical journeys and visions. In his own words: "After a long break, I needed to return to myself, my guitar, my piano, my pencil and paper, and my voice." Juston, self taught multi-instrumentalist, put down the drumsticks and returned to guitar to write new and finish old songs of life, love, loss, heartache, heart break, and death while managing to keep a positive outlook throughout the entire experience.

In January of 2010 Juston left Philadelphia for Tucson, AZ to record with his dear friends The Golden Boots. From there he drove East to Black Mountain, NC to record with the mountain wizard Seth Kauffman of Floating Action. To round it all off he returned to Philadelphia mix with long time Dr.Dog collaborator/engineer Bill Moriarty. Velvet Revolver Still Searching for New Singer for Heavier Songs
This isn't really new news but for those that may have missed Slash saying the same thing in other interviews. There is a new one where he discusses Velvet Revolver's search for a new singer and how much heavier the new songs are.

Slash says, "we're still looking for a singer. As soon as we establish the singer, we'll be able to set the time to actually go in and start working on the record. We've held a bunch of auditions, we just haven't found the right guy yet. We stopped for the tour, but we've been listening to demos from different singers. But right now I can't say there's someone who we're leaning towards. We haven't found that guy yet."

"When we came back off the tour after Scott (Weiland) left we came back in and wrote half a dozen or more really cool songs. It's really heavy stuff and I think it could be the best Velvet Revolver album yet." - more on this story

Japan's D'espairsray Plot U.S. Invasion
Universal sent over notice about the U.S. invasion from Japanese rockers D'espairsray. Here is what they had to say: Japan's unstoppable D'espairsray, easily one of the hottest rock 'n' roll exports to come barreling out of the Far East in recent memory, are gearing up for a flurry of activity in the United States and beyond, as the band looks to further conquer the international marketplace. Domination, anyone? That's at the top of D'espairsray's list as they are looking to take over one city, one state, one territory, one country at a time. And they can't be stopped.

D'espairsray – vocalist Hizumi, guitarist Karyu, bassist Zero and drummer Tsukasa— will release their fourth studio album, Monsters, via digital platforms only on Tuesday, July 27 through Delicious Deli, an imprint of Universal Music. The band, which formed in 1999 and has impressively maintained a constant, single lineup since its inception, has been forging a path for itself in the past decade-plus of its existence.

"Garnet," D'espairsray's 2003 maxi-single, landed atop the Japanese Indie Chart, and by 2006 they had travelled to and played in nine countries, among them Germany, France, England, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland and the U.S., slowly but surely turning heads, making fans and planting seeds along the way.

Every Time I Die Sh*t Happens: The Series Episode 2
Every Time I Die have posted a second hilarious episode of their new web show "Sh*t Happens: The Series?" this week.

In this episode, the band comes up with creative ways to fix their trailer, and even more creative ways to use hot sauce! The episodes are all part of a weekly video series entitled "Sh*t Happens: The Series?" Fans should expect even longer, funnier episodes to be included on the DVD, set for release this October! Check it out here

The series finds Every Time I Die teaming up once again with Space Monkey Studios. Over the next 12 weeks, Every Time I Die will unveil episodes that are packed to the gills with impromptu footage showcasing the band's signature brand of humor that has made them infamous amongst their fans and peers alike. This is by no means a scripted reality show containing foreseeable plot twists and over-dramatic story arches. Nor is this your typical live band DVD that focuses on the tedium of tracking a record or the self-congratulatory tales of what inspired their lyrics. Instead, "Sh*T Happens: The Series?" focuses on what it is exactly that drives 5 individuals from similar backgrounds to forfeit family and friends and take to the road year after year for the sake of their craft. Whether you're a fan of music or simply an admirer of the nomadic spirit that resides in all of us, "Sh*T Happens: The Series?" will make you feel at home.
