Frankel's Tooth Decay |
PR reports: Michael Orendy, aka Frankel teams
up with Aaron Espinoza of Earlimart and Producer Extraordinaire Dave Trumfio
for Lullaby For The Passersby, the follow up to 2006’s widely acclaimed
Chatterbox EP. Orendy, former bassist for noise-pop quartet Meow Meow (Devil
In The Woods), is a multi-instrumentalist who played everything from the
Thermin to the Twirly Whirly on Frankel’s newest full-length Lullaby For
The Passersby. Lullaby is the follow up to Frankel’s debut EP, Chatterbox.
The upstart indie label Three Ring, which released the Frankel EP, became
hip to Orendy after a tip from Nyles Lannon of Film School. The San Francisco
label also put Frankel on its At The Crossroads benefit compilation for
homeless youth. Following the widespread success of Chatterbox, which earned
Frankel comparisons to other beloved singer-songwriters like Elliott Smith
and Jon Brion, Orendy wanted to replicate the intimate sound of the EP,
but make a more polished full-length which hits stores on June 12th, 2007.

The
Ike Reilly Assassination Tour |
PR reports: "We Belong To The Staggering Evening"
is the natural yet alarming evolution for Reilly and his band. Sounding
furious and maniacal and on top of the world at the outset, "The Staggering
Evening" is performed with something to prove and nothing to lose. Handclaps
and tambourines, the call-and-response, twisted-gospel vocals, and driving
NYC-underground guitars are all part of Reilly's American portrayal of
rock 'n' roll in this lost new era. The CD is in stores today (5/8) and
you can see them on the road at the follow dates:
6/9 Indianapolis, IN -- Birdy's
6/12 Pittsburgh, PA -- Three Rivers Fest
6/14 Philadelphia, PA -- The Khyber
6/15 NYC, NY -- Bowery Ballroom
6/16 Cambridge, MA -- The Loft @ Tommy

The
American Black Lung Soph |
PR reports: It is not often that a band comes
along that can be compared to any number of bands yet embody each of them
equally. This is what Tucson’s The American Black Lung brings to the table.
The band’s sound is part early Black Flag, part Iggy Pop, part The Bronx,
and part The Hellacopters. “An incendiary mix of hardore, hardrock, with
a dollop of garage rock and a sliver of metal thrown in for good measure,”
says All Music Guide. Having recently signed with Laguna Beach’s Uprising
Records, The American Black Lung is poised to release their sophomore effort
Sudden Departure Of Vultures on July 10.- Click

Serj,
Cornell, Weiland Musical Bug |
PR reports: Three of modern rock’s greatest
frontmen and songwriters contribute provocative new music to the soundtrack
of the upcoming film BUG, a gripping psychological thriller directed by
the legendary William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection, To
Live and Die in L.A.).
New music by Velvet Revolver’s Scott Weiland
and System of a Down’s Serj Tankian are highlights of the soundtrack, along
with evocative music by Sean and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, Susan Tedeschi,
and Chainsaw Kittens. The all-star assemblage of songs was conceived to
reflect and deepen the dark, intense and complex atmosphere of the film,
according to Lionsgate President of Music and Publishing Jay Faires, who
served as music supervisor. Lionsgate will release the soundtrack CD on
May 22, 2007, through SonyBMG’s RED distribution, and the film itself is
scheduled for wide release on May 25th. [see full story for more on the

Fiends, the second album from Chasing Victory,
showcases both their hard-edged guitars and a brute force vocal performance
from Adam Harrell. “We All have fiends living inside ourselves; some are
dormant and hibernating, others are alive and vicious,” says Adam. The
Camilla, Georgia 5-piece has smashed the screamo label they were given
for their first album, and instead created a dynamic balance of brutality
