Tony Iommi and Ian Gillan are going to be recording together again and this time they will bring Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain and Deep Purple's Jon Lord along for the ride... and it's all for a good cause. Iommi's site explains:In 1989 Tony Iommi and Ian Gillan were just a few names in a long list of talent involved in the recording of the Deep Purple track "Smoke on The Water." This song was re-recorded to raise money for those affected by the Leninakan earthquake that struck Armenia in 1988. In October of last year both Tony and Ian travelled to Armenia to see how the funds raised had helped the local community. On their trip they visited a music school only to find it being run out of temporary accommodation, it was only location not to have been rebuilt 20 years after the earthquake had struck. Next week Tony and Ian will be heading back into the studio, joined by Jon Lord (ex Deep Purple / Whitesnake) and Nicko McBrain (drummer of Iron Maiden) to record a new track to raise money to rebuild the Armenian music school. More information about the charity single "Out of my Mind" and behind the scenes photos will follow soon!

This fun report from BW&BK shows that much hasn't changed since Metallica and Guns N' Roses toured together 20 years ago: Metallica frontman James Hetfield famously slammed Axl Rose's rider when they toured together in the early '90's in a video that became a YouTube hit. Hetfield picks up where he left off with Axl's 2010 rider and tells Triple M Sydney's rockin' Byron Cooke what he really thinks of Guns N' Roses. Axl's requirements haven't changed much over two decades. The same booze, the same cheese ... however, Axl now needs a bed in his dressing room "What does he do, sleep at the gig?" Hetfield laughs.

Rock Radio reports that Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson would rather screw up a lyric than use an autocue (teleprompter) on stage – both as a matter of pride and of performance. He says it's impossible to deliver a song with the required character if you're reading lines instead of imagining the storyline. And the fact that he's still asked whether he does forget lines means his approach works. "I get away with it pretty well – if I'd forgotten the words in a spectacular manner it would be all over YouTube," Dickinson tells the Iron Maiden Fan Club magazine. "I get the odd blank moment, usually because of a distraction. Something equipment-wise niggles a bit then it's, 'Oh sh*t, what's the first line of the second verse?' And of course that puts on the pressure, which only makes things worse."

You will soon be able to enjoy a legendary night of music in your living room. On December 6, 1983, legendary blues guitarist Albert King joined his disciple Stevie Ray Vaughan on a Canadian sound stage for the live music television series In Session. Magic happened. The highly sought after video footage from that one-time legendary summit becomes available for the first time ever on November 9 with the release of Stax Records' deluxe two-disc CD/DVD In Session. The DVD contains three classic performances unavailable on the previously issued audio disc: "Born Under a Bad Sign," the landmark title track from Albert King's biggest Stax release written by William Bell and Booker T. Jones; Stevie Ray's "Texas Flood," the Larry Davis-penned title track of Vaughan's immortal debut album; and "I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town," made famous by Louis Jordan and later, Ray Charles. "It was evident from the first choruses," writes liner notes author/musicologist Samuel Charters, "that they were playing for each other. And that was the best audience either of them could ever have. The music never lost its intensity, its quality of something very important being handed back and forth and there was time for Stevie and Albert to see where their ideas took them."

Last month we told you that the chief songwriter for Depeche Mode's first album is collaborating with the man who took over songwriting duties in the group after he left. At the time it appeared the collaboration between Vince Clarke and Martin Gore would only be one track but now there is hope for more as Erasure's Clarke confirmed to The Quietus that he was currently working on a new dance record with Depeche Mode's Gore. Clarke tells the site, "I emailed him and asked if he wanted to make a dance record. It's going to be a long, long process. I'm emailing him my ideas and he's emailing me ideas back and so we're just compiling stuff that way, but it's moving along so I'm quite excited about that." Of course, we might be reading full album into the word record. But read the full article for more details

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter tells about "Fade Away" from their new album "Truth Or Dare". We now turn it over to Juliet for the story: "After driving my car across the country from Florida to California for about the umpteenth time; I was happy to be back in LA writing and getting ready to record "Truth or Dare." I picked up my brother, Tommy from the airport two days after I arrived, and we set out to go write some tunes. Pulling out of a Starbucks, some guy wasn't watching what he was doing and nailed us with his car. The wreck was really bad. Tommy and I both hit the windshield shattering it. I passed out for about 10 seconds but magically we both walked away from the accident with out needing medical attention. The car was totaled, and the officer said that if it had been a millisecond later we could have seriously been hospitalized..eek! Despite the fact that we just got in an accident and the fact that we no longer had a car, we made it to Curt Scnieder's studio to write. The lyrics were inspired by the accident and the fear of not making it or not becoming something before we die. "Cuz this night is full of chances so dance around the crashes tonight" means we had the chance of dying but somehow danced our way around it. "These wounds will hide and blood will dry but baby were still alive tonight" means were still here, not going anywhere and any battle wounds or barriers there are, will be conquered." Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Country music superstars Rascal Flatts top Gene Simmons and Co. by banking $702,500 per show. Rounding out the Top 10 are Keith Urban ($487,500), Brooks & Dunn ($460,000), Sugarland ($325,00), Justin Bieber ($300,000), comedian Jeff Dunham ($200,000), Drake ($155,000), Weezer ($150,000) and Steve Miller Band ($150,000). Will Hoge will be hitting the road with Shinedown this November and December. Hoge is touring in support of his forthcoming EP, The Living Room Sessions, which comes out on Ryko on Oct. 12th. The six-song acoustic EP was recorded in only two days in Hoge's living room and features stripped-down versions of essential songs ("Long Gone," "Favorite Waste of Time," "Goodnight/Goodbye," "Too Late Too Soon" and "Even If It Breaks Your Heart") from his latest album, The Wreckage, and the fan favorite, "All Night Long," from Hoge's 2003 album, Blackbird On A Lonely Wire. "I like acoustic recordings that try to be different from the album versions," says Hoge. "We just got together and camped out at my house for a couple of days… it's not a home studio, no real fancy set-up or multi-tracking. The console was a laptop on a card table, and that same table also served simultaneously as the keyboard stand. There were no real overdubs or re-dos or pitch correct. We just did it 'til we liked it and let it be…not out of laziness, it just seemed to fit."
