Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter tells about "Fade Away" from their new album "Truth Or Dare". We now turn it over to Juliet for the story: "After driving my car across the country from Florida to California for about the umpteenth time; I was happy to be back in LA writing and getting ready to record "Truth or Dare." I picked up my brother, Tommy from the airport two days after I arrived, and we set out to go write some tunes. Pulling out of a Starbucks, some guy wasn't watching what he was doing and nailed us with his car. The wreck was really bad. Tommy and I both hit the windshield shattering it. I passed out for about 10 seconds but magically we both walked away from the accident with out needing medical attention. The car was totaled, and the officer said that if it had been a millisecond later we could have seriously been hospitalized..eek!
Despite the fact that we just got in an accident and the fact that we no longer had a car, we made it to Curt Scnieder's studio to write. The lyrics were inspired by the accident and the fear of not making it or not becoming something before we die. "Cuz this night is full of chances so dance around the crashes tonight" means we had the chance of dying but somehow danced our way around it. "These wounds will hide and blood will dry but baby were still alive tonight" means were still here, not going anywhere and any battle wounds or barriers there are, will be conquered."
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
