"This time it's just the five of us; the control room is only separated by a curtain [Laughs]. We're going back to a similar vibe that we had on the first three records. It's definitely more laid back than it's been in a while." Today Where Ocean Meets The Sky frontman Blake Martin tells us about "Who We Are" from their brand new album "Empires," which hits stores today! Here is the story: If you ask our drummer, Matt, what our song "Who We Are" is about, he will insist, until the day he dies, that it is about Lost. Subconsciously a big chunk of it may have been written about Lost, as I was watching the series at the time, but I digress. (Though you can hear a sound that sounds like the Smoke Monster in the beginning). The song starts with a lot of chill ambient sounds before I get to come in like a man possessed with some of the more aggressive screams on the record. You can really see a bit of a narrative going between the screams and the clean vocals in this song. As I'm stating to trust me and the path I've lead, Marc (guitars/vocals) warns about the narrow road in front of me. From this I speak of being "blinded by the bright lights" which really talks about the dream of fame that we are fed from a young age. Now I'm not blinded by those bright lights and now the music is all about passion. I think at any point in a band's career they can maybe get wrapped up in themselves, and that happened to me slightly at some point. I got a bit of a big head, but reality kicked me down a peg. This song for me tells that story. One of the core lines of the album occurs as a repeated choir part towards the end of the song. The line "We Build These Walls Around Us" which also appears in the interlude ties really heavily into the theme of the record. The walls are obstacles, and things we create for ourselves via falling prey to our faults, or making poor decisions, which cause problems in our lives. Coming out of this part I lay down what is in my opinion my best part on the whole record. "What a way to make an ending, we were born to never be saved, my eyes can inside you, I know, I know the pain" That line is about embracing the life you hadn't planned on. We weren't born to be saved, we were born to seek that salvation, whether that be through religion or whatever means works for you. The next line is really saying that I see where you are coming from and I feel the pain. My part in this story goes from the beginning thinking I knew the right path, and that I had all the answers. To the realization that the bright lights had blinded me. To the end where I realize the position I am in and the life that I lead and in that realization I understand that I can identify with a lot of the problems and issues my peers deal with. So not to make myself sound all grandiose and fantastic, this song for me is about a journey I've made in my life to be more humble, and use my position as a musician to send a positive message and talk about real things in my life. Because of how real everything I sing about is, there is always passion. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

(Gibson) Just before lunchtime on October 12, 1978, the Chelsea Hotel in New York City would become the site of one of rock and roll's greatest tragedies. Sid Vicious, of Sex Pistols notoriety, and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen had retreated into reclusive heroin-fueled oblivion as Vicious' rock and roll persona finally caught up with him and all around him. When a hotel worker went into Room 100 of the Chelsea Hotel he discovered a half-dressed, blood-covered body of a young woman lying on the floor, a deep wound in her stomach. The bed was also covered in blood. The hotel called an ambulance police and searched the room, discovering drugs, drug paraphernalia, a blood-stained hunting knife and Nancy's boyfriend Sid wandering the hallway in a state of confusion. Sid's story of events was inconclusive. According to the crime report, he said they had been in a fight the night before and he'd fallen asleep with Nancy playing with a knife on the bed. When he awoke the bed was wet with blood. He later claimed: "I stabbed her but I didn't mean to kill her. I loved her, but she treated me like [expletive]."

(Gibson) With Rush's Time Machine Tour leaving Brazil and preparing to invade Chile this week, Geddy Lee took time to do an interview with Brazil's TV UOL. Among the topics he discussed was their new studio album."The new album is still in production," Lee said. "We've recorded two songs so far, one of them called 'Caravan' and the other one called 'Brought Up To Believe' ['BU2B']. That's the beginning two songs of a whole kind of a concept album called Clockwork Angels. We have about four other songs... five songs written, but not recorded yet. And we still have a couple more songs that we want to write and then put the whole thing together. So, I don't think the album will be ready for about a year." Lee also looked back on the tour thus far, which has featured complete performances of the band's classic Moving Pictures album. "You know, having played Moving Pictures in its entirety on this whole tour, I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it, number one. Even songs like 'The Camera Eye,' that I really didn't think would pass the test of time, have actually come out sounding very fresh. I think that album, particularly, has endured very well. I think it's aging gracefully."

(Gibson) The remote Scottish peninsula near Sir Paul McCartney's High Park farmhouse has been put up for sale for £3million ($4.7 million). McCartney's band Wings immortalized the peninsula in the 1977 song "Mull of Kintyre," which went on to sell more than 2 million copies in the U.K. and 6 million copies worldwide. The swath of land forms a portion of the Carskiey sporting estate, a 7,360-acre property which has been owned by the sellers for more than 40 years. It boasts nine miles of coastline, an Edwardian mansion, smaller homes and cottages, and an assortment of wildlife including deer, wild goats and eagles. McCartney bought his neighboring farmhouse back in 1966. He credits the secluded property with saving him from an emotional and nervous breakdown due to the immense pressure of being a Beatle. Of the song "Mull of Kintyre," McCarntey once remarked, "It was a love song, really, about how I enjoyed being there and imagining I was travelling away and wanting to get back there."
