Disease Threatens Metallica Concert

(Croatian Times) Up to 60 horses have been quarantined following an outbreak of leptospirosis in Zagreb's hippodrome just days before 30,000 people are expected to attend a Metallica concert to be held there on Sunday.

The illness is usually spread from rats to other animals but when transferred to humans - through contact with contaminated water by broken skin or through lining of the eye - it can cause miscarriages, kidney inflammation and possibly death.

The Metallica concert organizers did not seem concerned about the outbreak. "We should have been informed, but obviously they did not think it was necessary because they believe that there is no danger. The horses will not come into contact with the audience, and during the last 10 days they did not even walk around the area where the audience will be," said Vladimir Ivankovic, director of Lupa Promotions that organized the concert. - more on this story

The Beatles are to be reborn as the undead in a new film adaptation of a graphic novel. The movie - entitled Paul Is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion - will show the band as zombies, after Doubles Features producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher brought the screen rights for Alan Goldsher's illustrated novel.

The books sees an undead John Lennon killing a reanimated Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The group travel the world performing gigs, before facing off against zombie hunter Mick Jagger and Yoko Ono, who's a ninja. - more on this story

Cult Singer Slams Vedder, Farrell, Grohl, Reznor and Weiland As Fakes

(Rock Radio) Cult frontman Ian Astbury has slammed American stars for not stepping up to front The Doors of the 21st Century – and has named and shamed Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction as fakes who lack integrity.

Astbury replaced Jim Morrison for the Doors in 150 shows and says he was proud to do it, but he believes a Stateside singer should have been there to perform with the iconic 60s outfit.

"There wasn't a single American singer who stepped up to the plate and said: 'I want to do this. I'm an American artist – I demand to do this," He tells the HeraldSun. "Not Eddie Vedder, not Dave Grohl, not Trent Reznor, not Perry Farrell. Not Scott Weiland. Not one of them stepped up and fought for it. When The Doors needed that generation to surround them and support them, the cupboard was bare." - he's not done.

Silverstein Set New CD/DVD Release

Silverstein will release their newest project, a new live CD/DVD dubbed, Decade: Live At The El Mocambo, on June 8, 2010.

In light of the band's ten-year anniversary, this jam-packed, live CD/DVD contains 22 of their tracks performed at the El Mocambo, as well as never before seen backstage footage and all ten of Silverstein's music videos, including the newest video for "American Dream".

Ratt Announce Summer Infestation Dates

Ratt plan to Ratt 'n' Roll on the road all summer long in support of their brand new album, Infestation, which hit stores in April.

The band will be on the road as part of their "World Infestation" tour, with dates planned from now through September. The band will continue headlining and well as touring with The Scorpions in July.

Ratt kicked off their current tour last week at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD. After touring Europe throughout June, they return to rock the States. All American dates are - here.

Devo Announce First New Album in 20 Years

Devo are set to release their first new studio album in 20 years. The new effort, entitled "Something For Everybody," is the follow-up to 1990's "Smooth Noodle Maps." UK release date for the album is Monday June 14th, followed by North American release on Tuesday 15th June.

"Thirty years ago, people said that we were cynical, that we had a bad attitude," says Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh. "But now, when you ask people if de-evolution is real, they understand that there was something to what we were saying. It's not the kind of thing you want to see proven right, but it does make it easier to talk about."

The Spill Canvas Announce Dates With Switchfoot and the Goo Goo Dolls

The Spill Canvas have announced that they will continue touring in June and throughout the summer.

The summer leg begins on June 12th and includes several Canadian dates. The band will also hit the road opening for Goo Goo Dolls and Switchfoot in July and August.

antiMusic has always been big fans of women that rock and Leiana is no exception. To celebrate the release of her new album, Lucky #3, next week (feat big names from Alice In Chains, Walls Of Jericho, Smile Empty Soul, Anthrax, White Zombie, Fuel and Chuck D), we asked Leiana to tell us about some her favorite tracks from album. Here is today's song:

Nothing=You was written by Sean Danielson (Smile Empty Soul), Eddie Wohl(producer/co-writer) and me. We would have writing sessions at Eddie's house while Smile Empty Soul's record Consciousness was being mixed nearby. Sean came up with the guitar riff and most of the parts. He ended up playing both guitar and bass on that track. Eddie and I came up with the lyrics together. I started throwing out lines from old songs for some reason. I think that's how it started.

Eddie thought it was cool so I kept coming up with lines from various songs for each verse. There is a bunch in there, and its funny how certain people don't notice it and certain people will only notice some of them, but if you listen close you will find a whole range of musical influences in there! That is certainly one of my favorite tracks on the record. Ken Schalk has amazing energy on the drums on that track.

American Hi-Fi's New Album Delayed

American Hi-Fi's new album, "Fight The Frequency," will now be released August 17 on their own label, Hi-Fi Killers/The Ascot Club (through Megaforce/RED/Sony).

Originally due out June 22, it's the follow-up to 2005's "Hearts On Parade" (Maverick) and was produced by singer/guitarist Stacy Jones and recorded at his studio in Los Angeles, The Deathstar.

"Lost" is the first single from the original line-up--Stacy Jones (singer/guitarist), Drew Parsons (bass), Jamie Arentzen (guitars) and Brian Nolan (drums)—which will impact radio on May 24. - more on this story

Mike Patton Produces A New Classic

Mondo Cane, is turning out to be an album of many firsts for Mike Patton, the front man of influential bands such as Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom and Fantômas. Not only is the album Patton's first Italian language release as well as his first outing with a full orchestra, the album also finds him landing on Billboard's Classical Album chart for the first time.

Mondo Cane which was released by Ipecac Recordings on May 4, entered the Billboard Classical Album chart at # 2, an unexpected twist on a chart that regularly features the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Il Divo.

The eleven-song album was years in the making with Patton selecting pieces from the great Italian composers and pouring over every detail for this labor of love. As Patton described the process himself, his motivation was to showcase the music's persistent relevance through "modern and adventurous interpretation."

MySpace Music exclusively revealed the Twilight Saga: Eclipse's soundtrack's tracklisting earlier this week. Throughout the day, MySpace Music announced a new soundtrack artist every half hour. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is slated to open in theatres nationwide on June 30th.

Due in stores and online June 8th, the "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" soundtrack features songs that will appear in the movie, highlighted by Muse's brand new single "Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)." The single, which is exclusive to the "Eclipse" soundtrack, will premiere worldwide this coming Monday, May 17th, when it also becomes available to download on iTunes.

The Band of Heathens Nominated for Americana Award

The Band of Heathens were nominated this week in the Americana Honors & Awards category of "Best Duo or Group." It is the band's second nomination for the Honors & Awards; the first was last year's nomination for "Best Emerging Duo or Group."

The nomination comes as the band's current album One Foot in the Ether reached #1 on the Americana airplay charts and has won critical kudos from the indie-rock, alt-country and jam press alike.

In what will prove a pivotal year for the Band of Heathens, the quintet will also perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago's Grant Park in August, and at the Wakarusa festival in Arkansas. Joey Ramone Birthday Bash After Party

RAMONE had a history of encouraging up-and-coming bands in New York's downtown music scene by showcasing them at his special "Joey Ramone Presents…" events. Since RAMONE's passing, his brother and their mother Charlotte Lesher carried on the tradition "by featuring bands that make great music and getting together some of Joey's friends to celebrate him on what would otherwise be a sad, somber day," Leigh explained.

This is the first year for the AFTER PARTY, which is being organized by NYC based fashion coordinator Erin O'Brien and will be held at The Belmont Lounge, 117 East 15th Street between Park Avenue & Irving Plaza, from 10PM – 4AM. There is no cover charge and no tickets being sold so everyone is invited – providing they can show ID that they are over 21 years of age. Beyond The Labyrinth Release Third Song from Chapter III Project

For their 3rd album "Chapter III - Stories", Beyond The Labyrinth decided to approach it from a "Work In Progress" point of view, releasing new songs single by single through iTunes and as limited editions hard copies, only finalizing it the album after all the singles have been released.

In this "Work In Progress" approach, BTL now releases a 3rd single "Ocean Apart", a powerful ballad written by singer Jo De Boeck and guitar player Geert Fieuw. The second song on the single, "Where Kindred Spirits Meet" is a mid tempo Hard Rock anthem.

Todd Rundgren Two of His Albums In Full On New Tour

Todd Rundgren will perform two complete albums, Healing and Todd, in the same live concert, starting in early September 2010.

The first show is scheduled for September 5 in Akron, Ohio. The tour includes concerts in Muskegon, Michigan (September 8); St. Louis, Missouri (September 10); Indianapolis, Indiana (September 11); Glenside, Pennsylvania (September 14); and Morristown, New Jersey (September 15).

Two additional events will bring extra depth to the 10-day tour. First is the official Toddstock Movie Premiere, followed by a party, which will take place on September 7 in Muskegon (amid rumors that the musician will be in attendance).
