New Jimi Hendrix Album To Feature 12 Previously Unreleased Studio Tracks
Experience Hendrix LLC and Sony Music Entertainment's Legacy Recordings launch their monumental 2010 Jimi Hendrix Catalog Project on Tuesday, March 9, with the release of Valleys of Neptune, a newly curated album of 12 fully realized studio recordings, more than 60 minutes of music never commercially available on a Jimi Hendrix album.

Centered around tracks recorded during a pivotal and turbulent four-month period in 1969, Valleys of Neptune unveils the original Jimi Hendrix Experience's final studio recordings, as the group lays down the foundation for its follow-up to Electric Ladyland, alongside the guitar superhero's first sessions with bassist Billy Cox, an old army buddy he'd recruited into his new ensemble.

Valleys of Neptune provides an essential, compelling, and up-til-now largely unseen view of what Jimi Hendrix was up to musically in the critical period between the release of Electric Ladyland in October 1968 and the 1970 opening of his own Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, the state of the art facility where he would begin his final project, the ambitious double album First Rays of the New Rising Sun. - more on this story

Michael Jackson Doctor Will Reportedly Be Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter
This story broke on Friday in the Day in Pop but we decided to run it here for those rock fans that may also be fans of Michael Jackson. We also included a small update: The LAPD investigation into the cause of Michael Jackson's death has reportedly been completed and the case will now be turned over to the district attorney with Jackson's doctor reportedly facing charges, according to reports.

FMQB reported on Friday, "Now that the LAPD has completed a thorough report, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney within the next few weeks." (read their report here) The Associated Press contradicted the report that the case is closed but they reported on the expected outcome: Prosecutors are prepared to seek an indictment of Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's death, the Associated Press has learned.

A law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation remains open said Friday that Murray would be prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence alleging that his treatment of Jackson was an extreme departure from the standard of care normally followed by physicians. Read the AP report here

Update: NME reports that Michael Jackson's death certificate has been published online – showing in detail how it was amended to officially list the late singer's passing as homicide. In a statement of corrections on the form "Acute Propofol intoxication", "Homicide" and "Intravenous injection by another" can be seen as having been added to the cause of death section. - Read more here

Change in Tour Plans For Metallica
Metallica had this news for fans on Monday about a change in their tour plans: We are very sorry to report that there will not be a second show in Riga, Latvia as originally scheduled for April 18, 2010. Due to a recent unprecedented economic downturn in Latvia, there simply was not enough demand for tickets for two shows and we are therefore consolidating them into one.

We are looking forward to our night back there after a fantastic vibe in the rain in the summer of 2008 and we sincerely hope this does not inconvenience too many of you.

The night of April 18 will now see us traveling to Tallinn, Estonia to Saku Suurhall for an indoor show. The last time we were in Tallinn in June of 2006, it was the largest live music event there ever . . . we are very psyched to be heading back. Tickets for this show will go on sale January 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM local time. MetClub members should check www.metclub.com for information about a special pre-sale. - ticket exchange info

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page Taking Radical New Approach
(Rock Radio) Guitar hero Jimmy Page has promised his new solo album will be "radical", and also says he has no hard feelings against Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant for not going ahead with a reunion tour in 2008.

Page has recently begun work on his first new record in 22 years. It's rumoured to have come about after the one-off Zep show at London's O2 Arena proved to be just that. When Plant refused to take part in a tour, Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham – son of John – planned a tour anyway, but it fell apart. Now Page, 66, promises a new approach to his music on his upcoming album.

He says: "I think it's very important to make musical statements with new material, and that's exactly what I plan to do over the forthcoming year. Musically it will be a different picture in quite a radical frame, I hope. I'd like to try some ambitious projects." - more on this story

Ramones Manager Murder Trial
The trial for the murder of the Ramones former co-manager will begin this week with jury selection starting as early as Monday. The defendant reportedly admitted clubbing Linda Stein to death but later recanted the confession.

The AP has a lengthy report about the case, here is part of that: The confession was dramatic and videotaped. The weeping woman described to a prosecutor how she fatally bludgeoned her boss — punk-rock pioneer and celebrity real estate broker Linda Stein — with a piece of exercise equipment.
The suspect, Stein's personal assistant, said she snapped after Stein insulted and cursed at her and blew marijuana smoke in her face. "'Leave me alone. Leave me alone!'" Natavia Lowery said she recalled thinking while clubbing Stein six times in the agent's Fifth Avenue apartment.

Buzzcocks Reissues To Include Motherload of Bonus Material Including Previously Unreleased Tracks
Buzzcocks and Mute will release the original Buzzcocks' albums, Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites, and A Different Kind of Tension from 1978 and 1979 February 9, 2010. The reissues will also feature previously unreleased tracks, John Peel sessions, associated singles, demos, backing tracks, and live versions.

Buzzcocks' first album, Another Music in a Different Kitchen - a major punk landmark and a great record to boot - was released almost exactly thirty years ago. It's full of fire, wit, speed, philosophical lyrics and gender explorations, as well the sly psychedelia that always made Buzzcocks stand out from the pack. This disc contains the full Another Music in a Different Kitchen album with the relevant John Peel session and another disc of various out-takes and the full live show recorded at the Electric Circus in October 1977: the venue's last night and the moment when Buzzcocks began to go national.

Love Bites is the second disc covering the associated singles: "Love You More" and "Promises", and two Peel sessions as well as thirteen demos from summer 1978. As an added bonus, there is the full concert from the Lesser Free Trade Hall in June 1978, an exercise in instant nostalgia filmed by Granada TV under the guidance of Tony Wilson. Love Bites came at a troubled period for the group and the culture that had formed them. After the demise of the Rotten Sex Pistols in January 1978, Punk was seen as over. Buzzcocks were in danger of becoming yesterday's future. But 1978 was an extraordinary year for the group. They released two albums, five singles – with two in the UK top twenty – and toured relentlessly.
