Megadeth and Slayer have confirmed that they will each perform, start to finish, their 1990 releases - Slayer's world-wide, million-selling Seasons In The Abyss and Megadeth's Platinum Rust In Peace - on the upcoming Canadian and American Carnage Tours. The six-date Canadian Carnage kicks off July 23 in Quebec City, while the 19-city American Carnage dates begin August 11 in Glens Falls, NY (complete itinerary is below). With Slayer and Megadeth co-headlining, Testament will be Special Guest on all dates. The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be postponed due to Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya's treatment for severe back pain, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. A surgical procedure in January corrected the problem once and for all, and he felt better almost immediately. "Right after the surgery," said Araya, "I could tell that the issue was fixed. There's no more pain, it just feels really good. I'm really excited and I'm anxious to get together with the rest of the guys and start rehearsing again. We cancelled two tours, and I don't feel great about that, but I couldn't deal with the pain anymore, and that's now completely gone. I know the fans are excited to see the band - the tour is on, we're keeping our word, there will be no more cancellations."

Here is some big news for John Mellencamp fans about a big new collection: On The Rural Route 7609 is a four CD set that chronicles, in a most unique way, the arc of John Mellencamp's career, with a focus on his songwriting. Universal Music Enterprises has set June 15th as the release date for the collection through its Mercury imprint. The package, unlike typical box sets that tend to slavishly offer a chronological presentation of hits and near-hits, is programmed as if each of the discs were a freestanding album. The 54 tracks included in the collection are presented, in essence, as four albums with songs juxtaposed in a manner that offers the listener the experience of hearing them in a context that sheds new light on the themes and artistry that have made Mellencamp's music so cherished by so many over the course of four decades. While On The Rural Route 7609 offers a wealth of well-known material, a significant number of the tracks included are less familiar but equally compelling, especially in terms of providing an in-depth picture of Mellencamp's spectrum of creativity. The concept behind the four "albums" of the collection is to give long-term Mellencamp fans and newer listeners alike, a more complete and insightful view of the artist's role as a writer and artist whose catalog of songs and recordings resound with substance and nuance.

Evile has decided to do something special for their great fans in the lone star state. They will pay tribute to 2 men who have had an immense impact upon their lives - Dimebag Darrell and the band's late bassist, Mike Alexander - by performing their version of the Pantera classic, "Cemetery Gates" for the first time in front of lucky audiences last night at Emo's in Austin, TX and Wednesday at Tree in Dallas, TX. Evile guitarist, Ol Drake explains the roots of this idea in a short statement: "We were recently sat in the van looking at the dates on this overkill run and we mentioned how cool the Texas dates will be. Then it hit me that Dimebag was born in Dallas, TX, and we recently covered "Cemetery Gates" and received some good feedback on it. "So we thought why not play it live in Dallas? I think it'd be a great tribute to Dime and Pantera, and we love playing the song. We'll be playing very early at the Texas shows so please turn up early to see Evile's set. The number of times people have come up to me saying they missed us from thinking the doors were later is ridiculous.

Stigma have made their track "The Undertaker" available for free streaming/download on MetalInjection.net. When asked about the song, vocalist Vlad Ghersi writes:"'The Undertaker' is definitely one of our favorite songs of the record, it's the very last we wrote before heading to the studio and I think it's hand down the catchiest song we've written so far! Lyrics wise, I'm sorry to let you all down, but this song is not about the WWE superstar! In fact, like all the others featured on our new album, 'Concerto For The Undead,' is inspired by stories taken from the Tales From The Crypt comics! In this particular case I got inspired by a story entitled 'Fitting Punishment', where an old man
an undertaker in a small village, gets rid of his dead sister's son after treating him like a slave because he had no place to go after his mother died. After beating the young guy to the point he had to walk with crutches for the rest of his life, the miserable old man kicked him down the stairs to use a coffin he made by mistake! Of course this isn't the end of the story, cause the undertaker had a lame visit a few days later
!"

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Greg Laswell tells us about the title track from his brand new album "Take A Bow," which will be released next week. We now turn it over to Greg for the story:I wrote "Take a Bow" to myself. I know, right? How ridiculous. I told myself I'd never admit that but what the hell, in the spirit of being singled out, there it is: I wrote this song to my flipping self. I've been heartbroken twice in my whole life... This song was written right after my second one failed. To be perfectly frank, I always knew that second one wasn't going to work, but that did not keep me from running full-throttle at it. I can now admit that I wasn't in love with the person the song concerns as much as I was in love with the chance of being in love again. The chorus, "try and stay out of your head, I have seen you invent the damnedest things there," is a self-induced challenge I suppose. The truth is people are going to do what they are going to do. They are going to change their step in the middle of the dance sometimes, and probably right when you are getting the hang of it. You can't go through life absorbing the blame. I, on the other hand, do it all the time. At the high risk of sounding self-congratulatory, I allow myself to be proud in this song. I like that I tried again. I like that I allowed myself into a place where I could get hurt again. I played my heart out. It's not really a sad song with that skin on it. Blah, blah, blah.... how nauseating. I hope you like it and it finds a place in your own story somehow. GL P.S. Oh, and she can f**k off Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself to this track on other and learn more about the album
