Their forthcoming album, Broken Side of Time, is born of the struggles and setbacks the band faced along the way. Classic Big Audio Dynamite Album Expanded For 25th Anniversary
Originally released in 1985, This Is Big Audio Dynamite is a groundbreaking and highly influential album which perfectly blends New York beats, Jamaican bass lines, ear-bending cinematic samples, and British guitar rock. Before the Rap meets Rock cultural paradigm, before the meshing of musical genres became the norm - there was Big Audio Dynamite, led by ex-Clash guitarist/vocalist Mick Jones. This landmark album now includes a second disc of 12 bonus tracks comprising rare U.S. and U.K. 12-inch remixes, edits, dub versions, outtakes, and B-sides - five of them previously unreleased. In Stores Tuesday April 27th

"Born from the ashes of the Clash," is how Don Letts puts it, referring to the cosmic implosion in 1983, after seven glorious years, of the original lineup of 'the only band that really mattered.' Parting ways with the band for 'ideological differences' (as rock lore has always noted), free agent Mick Jones was free to set the stage for the arrival two years later of Big Audio Dynamite.

That arrival (October 1985) came in the form of This Is Big Audio Dynamite, a monumental and influential album of British post-punk rock revisionism 'clashing' head-on with hip-hop beatboxes (pre-Beastie Boys and Fatboy Slim and Run-DMC's hip-hop-rock fusion projects), dancefloor grooves, the Vocoder (precursor of T-Pain's Auto-tune), and eye-opening, ear-bending cinematic samples gathered up from spaghetti westerns, Nic Roeg films and more.

Norma Jean's New Album Coming in July
Norma Jean fifth album Meridional which will be released July 13th on Razor & Tie. Meridional revisits the abrasive and chaotic roots of classic Norma Jean while offering fans a dark experimental side - the band stretching out on moody, slow-burn jams. Meridional was recorded in February 2010 at Glow in the Dark Studios in Atlanta with producer Jeremy Griffith. The band recorded eleven official tracks for the record as well as a few extra bonus tracks and B-sides.

Vocalist Cory Brandan described Meridional, "It's a heavy record, multifaceted with epic sounding, experimental songs, some fast, chaotic songs, and some melodic, commanding interludes. Dew-Scented Post New Track Online
German thrashers Dew-Scented have premiered a track from their upcoming album, "Invocation," on Myspace. The track is entitled, "Arise From Decay."

"Invocation" will be released May 25th in North America via Prosthetic Records, May 21st in Germany and May 24th in the rest of Europe via Metal Blade Records. "Arise From Decay" is also featured on the CD sampler included with this month's Rock Hard Magazine, in Germany.

Vocalist Leif comments about the new song: "We are happy to finally be able to debut a new song for all of you to hear! 'Arise From Decay' is the new album's opening track (after the instrumental intro piece 'Downfall') and a really good representation of not only what the album is all about, but also of what DEW-SCENTED sound like in 2010. 'Arise From Decay' combines many of the band's 'trademark' elements into a straight forward and pretty vicious song. This song was actually one of the first fully finalized tracks when we started writing the 'Invocation' album with the band's new line-up and we have already been playing it live for a while now with great response. Enjoy!"

We played it live during our overseas touring at the beginning of this year in Australia and the UK and were getting a great response from the crowd for it. Rock Scribe Goes Sci-Fi
Rock critic Andrew Ian Dodge turns his pen to science fiction with the release of his new novel "And Glory". Here is the info: The year is 2034. Power lies in Europe with the bureaucrats in Brussels and London is the centre for the Western Provinces. The Supremo Manipulator of this conglomerate of nations is Pius. With no religious connections and a diminishing hold on power the Union is sustained by nepotism, violence and musical chairs of political appointees. The disintegration of the Union is imminent.

With a touch of humor, a satirical political edge and a flowing writing style, characters you come to know well take the reader through a techno-thriller deep into the 21st century. We see the ambivalence of revolutionaries, who never intend serious action, faced with orders to destroy and kill. Europe will never be the same again …

Andrew Ian Dodge is a 40 something writer, consultant and rocker. Andrew is also a renown music critic and goes under the alias Marty Dodge. Married to English actress Kim Benson since 2007. A regular contributor to Pajamas Media, Dodge is busy working on several writing projects including a new novel and lyrics for his band. He recently overcame colon cancer. - more on this story

Singled Out: Kottonmouth Kings' Mad Respect
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. The Kottonmouth Kings return with their brand new album "Long Live the Kings " which hits stores today. To celebrate two members of the group have picked their favorite songs from the effort and will tell us a little bit about each one. Today we hear from Daddy X who tells us about the song "Mad Respect":

I chose the track "Mad Respect" off of Long Live the Kings. It was one of the last tracks we recorded for the album. We had started working on the track before we left for Hawaii and my production partner Mike Kumagai put the finishing touches on the track and emailed it to us while we were there. We played our shows and stayed for a couple of extra days. We went to Hana in Maui which is the most amazing spot on the planet and played the track over and over while driving an old road to get there.

We have always felt that KMK never gets the respect or recognition we deserve from critics or the media, so we kinda wrote the song from being disrespected and misunderstood. "We gotta whole lotta whole lotta whole lotta nothing to offer. We gotta whole lotta whole lotta whole lotta nothing to give. We got a ounce of love and a pound of conversation. We gotta axe to grind until we find respect". That was the hook and then we just dug into the verses with passion. Dirtball spit some of the most intense rhyme patterns ever recorded! Overall I love the track's attack and energy!!

We'll be back on Thursday with another song story from KmK. But for now, hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
