Yahoo reports: Former members of The Clash, Mick Jones and Nicky "Topper" Headon, have recorded together for the first time in almost 30 years by reworking a version of the punk rock band's 1978 song "Jail Guitar Doors."The pair teamed up with folk activist Billy Bragg in the studio to promote the singer's campaign to help rehabilitate prison inmates. Bragg's Jail Guitar Doors initiative, named after the song, supplies musical instruments to prisoners. Several inmates have gone on to pursue careers as performers since the scheme started two years ago. "The guys were telling us how much this scheme had helped them move on from their previous lives before prison," Jones said in a statement.

AP reports: Joe Perry is angry that Aerosmith has been sidelined due to Steven Tyler's tour injury. The group had to cancel their summer tour after the frontman suffered injuries when he fell off the stage during a concert in August. "The tour was building up to be a great tour, and I was pretty (upset), you know," Perry said in an interview on Wednesday. The guitarist hasn't even spoken to Tyler recently: "I haven't talked to him in over five weeks. I don't know what's going on with him. I hear he's getting better, but I don't know I really don't know what's going on with him. The 61-year-old Tyler fell off the stage during an Aug. 5 performance in South Dakota. He broke his left shoulder and needed 20 stitches in his head. Tyler was ordered by doctors to take the time to properly recuperate from his injuries. "I was pretty (upset), because right before that, he had pulled a muscle in his leg. And we had to take two weeks off and we missed probably seven dates," Perry said.

SleazeRoxx reports: Dokken wants to have its way with your chicken! Check out the hilarious new set of commercials for Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2010. Don Dokken and his band scored "ungodly amounts of money" to appear in the ad, whose director actually rents a house from Don. Styx was originally scheduled to appear in the spot, but when they pulled out, Don was literally approached to do it in his driveway after a gig (the ad was recorded several days later). The narration goes like this: "Imagine this chicken is your hard drive and the eighties heavy metal band Dokken is a computer virus. Dokken does not like chicken. It wants to destroy it. The chicken, not knowing Dokken's intentions, doesn't really have any feelings either way. Now, you have a choice. Would you like to allow Dokken to have its way with your chicken, unleashing a wrath the likes of which the chicken has never seen, or would you like to deny it? Protect your chicken from Dokken. Deny digital dangers with Norton Internet Security 2010."

antiMusic reports: Duff Mckagan of Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver and Loaded fame has penned his latest Seattle Weekly blog where he contemplates writing a book. Here is part of what he had to say: "A couple of months back, I wrote that I was going to test little bits and pieces of a potential book I may write. If I do enough of these tests, who knows? I may just have the start of a larger work. To make things coherent and in context, I will present things here in a broader sense. Think of it as an outline. Here goes another installment. "The memories I have of the mid-to-late-'80s Hollywood rock scene do not necessarily include bands that may pop into one's mind. My band, Guns N' Roses, and the close network of friends that we kept, were a ragtag bunch of outcasts that remained rather insulated and kept to ourselves during this period. We had little in common with the popular L.A. bands then. Though parts of this story may seem a bit dark, this period of my life was one of the funnest and most profound. It also contained many strong elements of a young man's rite of passage, including a loss of innocence in many respects and facing mortality as a result of losing close friends to overdoses. Maybe not the usual rites of passage, but at the time these life hurdles seemed normal. "I packed my bags and cut my ties with my hometown of Seattle in September 1984. The idea of driving to New York in my beat-up 1971 Ford Maverick became moot as soon as I realized that, on a budget of $360, the East Coast was just too far away. I decided Los Angeles was a safer place for me than the heroin-infested punk scene of the Pacific Northwest. I was badly mistaken."

Warner Bros reports: Warner Bros. began reissuing Rod Stewart's Warner Bros. catalog a year ago with remastered and expanded versions of some of the artist's best studio work. With its latest effort, Warner Bros. goes deep into the vaults to reveal the secret studio history of this very public performer with a boxed set of unreleased recordings chosen from sessions spanning 1971-1998. The Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998 will be available September 29. Producers Andy Zax and Cheryl Pawelski prowled through a warehouse of Stewart's tapes to unearth all the dusty gems four discs could hold. Spanning more than 25 years, the collection's 63 songs, outtakes, and ephemera provide extraordinary insight into the studio work of one of rock's legendary figures and paint a picture of what might have been. Many of these performances are more stripped-down and intimate than their released counterparts, so the set becomes an illustration and a showcase of Rod's creative process. Few major artists have allowed such a revealing look behind the scenes. More than a third of THE Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998 chronicles the torrent of indelible recordings Stewart unleashed during the '70s. Fittingly, the set opens with a decidedly rough take of "Maggie May," the #1 hit from Stewart's third solo album - Every Picture Tells A Story - that broke him as a solo artist in 1971. SESSIONS offers alternate versions of well-known hits from that era such as "Sailing," "Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)," "You Wear It Well," and an acoustic version of "You're In My Heart (The Final Acclaim)." Alongside those are rarities like the unfinished "Think I'll Pack My Bags" (which later appeared on Ron Wood's solo debut rewritten as "Mystifies Me"), an early version of "So Tired" that finds the band working out the arrangement in the studio, and an acoustic version of the B-side "Rosie." Of special note is the rumored-to-exist but never heard - until now - sequel to "The Killing of Georgie"; "Innocent (The Killing of Georgie Part III)" completes the epic narrative begun on 1976's A Night On The Town album with a ferociously rocking performance taken from the sessions for the following year's Foot Loose & Fancy Free. Stewart ended the decade with a hits package that was to include his cover of British pub-rocker Frankie Miller's "When I'm Away From You" that has remained unreleased until now.

antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today we have a special treat as music legend Hank Williams Jr. tells us about not one, but two songs! He tells us about his current hit single "Red, White & Pink-Slip Blues" and also tells us about "All The Roads," a song he recorded with The Grascals which is getting some healthy airplay on country radio at the moment. We now turn it over to Hank for a little bit about each song:All The Roads (with the Grascals)--I wrote that in Montana at least 15 years ago. They were plowing the snow and the song took maybe ten minutes. It's bluegrass, which is something I love. You can tell by the way I'm singing this that I'm into it. It's like I'm on the Opry, standing there with Bill Monroe. Red, White & Pink-Slip Blues--Once I heard "Eighteen months and two days ago/the mill closed down and moved to Mexico" on the demo, I really got into it. Then you get to that powerful chorus. A lot of people have let me know they're all over it and what it says. Especially with these economic and political times, it represents the views of a lot of people. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself
