PR reports: Eddie Jobson's U-Z Project will be performing a brief series of exclusive East Coast and Midwest summer dates on the "Ultimate Zero Tour": Washington DC (August 17 - Jammin' Java); New York (August 18 - B.B. Kings); Boston (August 19 - Regent Theatre); Philadelphia (August 20 - North Star); Cleveland (August 21 - Beachland Ballroom); and Chicago (August 22 - Martyrs'). A live concert appearance by iconic musician Eddie Jobson is a rare event. As keyboardist, electric violinist, co-founder, producer, and principal writer of 'UK' [a group he formed with drummer Bill Bruford (Yes, Genesis, King Crimson), singer/bassist John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), and then-unknown guitar phenom Allan Holdsworth], Jobson's studio and live concert performances were described as "stunning" and "dazzling.' The Boston Globe has called him "a music pioneer," Emmy magazine called him "a genius." Eddie was previously well known as the teenage 'rock prodigy' with the early Roxy Music, and as Frank Zappa's right-hand-man on both keyboards and electric violin - replacing both Jean Luc Ponty and George Duke at the age of 21. After appearing on some 60 albums with many of the rock/fusion genre's top musicians, Mr. Jobson retired from both studio and live performance for more than 20 years until a recent unannounced appearance in Russia with King Crimson.

PR reports: Legendary musician, songwriter, producer and recording artist Mac McAnally will release his latest album Down By The River on August 4th. The 11-song collection of new original material is also his 11th release as a solo artist and his debut for Show Dog Nashville. The self-produced album showcases McAnally, one of music's most respected creators, on acoustic and electric guitars, acoustic and electric piano, harmonica, ukulele and percussion. On the title track, you can hear the Muscle Shoals energy in the instrumentation. While songs like "On Account Of You" and "Until Then" allow his vocal and guitar work to shine through. The album's first single, "You First," offers a poignant series of vignettes in McAnally's direct yet profound simplicity of style. He also pledged his artist royalties from the single to the Wounded Warriors Project, whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The commitment to helping wounded soldiers fits well with the song's theme of brotherly love. Earlier this summer, McAnally performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to honor wounded soldiers as part of The Launching Challenge America initiative.

Recording this album should be a blast, and the fact that we'll be working with one of the world's top metal producers will only make the experience that much cooler." MMP reports: Today Metal Mind Productions presents exclusive re-releases of Sinergy's complete discography, including "Beware the Heavens", "To Hell and Back" and "Suicide By My Side", showcasing the sheer brilliance of one of Finland's most talented metal groups.Sinergy's re-issues will be available in new digipak editions, each limited to 2000 copies. The material was digitally remastered using 24-Bit process. The release date is scheduled for 24th August in Europe and 6th October in USA (via MVD). Sinergy is one of the most exceptional power metal acts ever to emerge on the Scandinavian scene. Considered a super-group this project managed to combine all the best elements of power, melodic, death and heavy metal, ultimately creating their own recognizable style. Originally, the idea to form the project came in 1998 from vocalist Kimberly Goss (who was at the time the keyboard player for Dimmu Borgir; in the past she performed with such bands as Therion and Avernus) and guitarist Jasper Strφmblad (known from In Flames). The two met during a joint world tour and discussed the possibility of forming a female-fronted metal act. The idea was put on hold for some time, but soon after Goss left Dimmu Borgir and moved to Sweden, Sinergy once again became a subject of many discussions. Finally, with the addition of guitarist Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho (Children of Bodom), drummer Ronny Milianowicz (Dionysus) and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo (Arch Enemy, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars), Sinergy became a fact and the collective begun working on their debut material

PR reports: Seven Year Existence will be supporting Victory Records' artists Otep and Destrophy on the Smash The Control Machine Tour that will hit over 25 different cities across the U.S this summer. The tour, which runs from the beginning of August to the middle of September, will be the band's first national tour after spending several years doing small regional tours across the Midwest and West side areas of the country. "We can't wait to get out there and rip it up," says guitarist and founder Jason Ellett of Seven Year Existence. "We've always been a DIY death metal band from a small town in Central Illinois, so things have not come easy for us. Our band has worked extremely hard over the years and has played over 300 shows in several different markets. We knocked down so many obstacles to finally acquire our first national tour. It's time for Seven Year Existence to be introduced to the masses and show metal heads out there what we can do on a much larger level."

PR reports: Janus will be releasing their debut album, Red Right Return, September 22 on Realid Records (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group).Red Right Return Is a collection of ten seamlessly flowing tracks that showcase the band's ability to bring the Rock world an intelligent fresh sound. Janus' debut harkens back to the days when albums were written as a total piece of work, as opposed to a group of single songs. The Chicago natives recorded, produced, created all the themes, digital presence, and artwork on their own. Lyrically, the songs have very strong universal underpinnings to real life experiences. While they tell a particular story, the end result is left open to interpretation and the listener is free to draw their own conclusions. JANUS uses a broad range of dynamics and instruments not often used in the Rock world (violins, cellos, timpani drums, a full choir, air raid sirens and a glockenspiel) to produce a sound of melodic, ethereal backdrops grounded in aggressive, heavy, rhythms.

Glass Onyon reports: Random Touch's Scott Hamill (guitars), James Day (keyboards) and Christopher Brown (drums/vocals) first collaborated in the 1970's. Pure improvisation was one among many sound experiments. Over time it became the preferred mode for music making.Their album A Way From the Heard will be available beginning July 31, 2009 at CDBaby.com and randomtouch.com. With the music of A Way From the Heard (Token Boy Records, 2009) Random Touch has arrived at a new level of expression. Rock and symphonic music are more fully merged on much of the album, and their long developed technique of abandon is exercised with deft maturity. The result is an unbridled expression of sound as emotion. The colors are more vivid, the gestures wider; very l ittle remains in the shadows. The music seems to sense that it's time has ripened.

The single "Fire It Up" is the second single fans have heard from the new CD as the first single, "Bring Me to Life," was a free download with the Taco Bell "Feed The Beat" program earlier this Spring. Joe", two upcoming video games (MX vs. ATV Reflex and upcoming EA Sports NHL 10 (game releases September 15th, soundtrack July 31st)), used on ESPN's airing of the NASCAR Nationwide series feature on Kyle Busch and on the Versus Network during the Edmonton IndyCar race this past weekend.

PR reports: The Elms have crafted 12 tracks where spirited melodies, brazen riffs and tightly-knit rhythms come together on their fourth album The Great American Midrange. Set for release September 15 via their own Trust Incorporated label in conjunction with Warner Music Publishing and Artist 2 Market (A2M) Distribution, the album was co-produced by The Elms and longtime collaborator Brent Milligan; engineered and mixed by Adam Kasper (Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age); and mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig (Rolling Stones, U2, Pearl Jam, REM, Radiohead). Of teaming with Kasper and Ludwig, lead singer and songwriter Owen Thomas says, "These guys are heroes of ours!" The Elms--Owen Thomas (Vocals, Guitar), Christopher Thomas (Drums), Nathan W. Bennett (Bass) and Thomas Daugherty (Guitar)--build solidly upon a tradition that stretches from The Band to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, with deep roots in the muddy working soul of their home country.

Obsessed is the worst case scenario with its heavily layered vocals and robotic singing voice which is all the rage at the moment but I promise you, in ten years time it will be more dated than synthesizers from the 80s.

Mighty Fairly have a catchy, poppy sound that is both refreshingly intelligent and unapologetically addictive. Its a great feat to come off as relevant and original in an age of regurgitated music and truth be told, they have managed to accomplish this goal. (4 stars)
