Blabbermouth reports: The Los Angeles man who was sentenced to a year of probation (including two months of modified house arrest) for uploading pre-release Guns N' Roses tracks told MTV News that he was offended by the comments former GN'R guitarist Slash made about him. "A friend of mine conducted an interview with Slash last year in which he called me a thief and wished that I 'rot in jail,'" Kevin Cogill said. "I found that surprisingly crass, especially considering the guy has made no bones about shoplifting cassette tapes with the same rationale as today's downloaders. So if he wants to see me in jail, I'll see him in the cafeteria." Cogill told MTV News that he carries a great deal of remorse for what he did, though he never intended any harm to Axl Rose — he was just a fan who was excited about a band he loved. "I've come to respect the artists' right to determine how their art is released," he said. "I do apologize to Axl for that disrespect. As a fan who had lost faith in all of the promises of release, I didn't see too many other options at the time. But in a fair world, it's not my place to judge, let alone act."

antiMusic reports: Courtney Love made headlines a few weeks ago by announcing that she plans to release her new solo album under the Hole moniker. That plan isn't sitting well with one of her former bandmates.Former Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson has spoken out against Love's plans to use the name of the band that he cofounded. "There is no Hole without me," Erlandson told Spin in a new interview where he also said, " I'm open to discussions regarding the real Hole, and if she has a solo album together, I think that's great. I think she should finish it and put it out and do that." Love fired back with a Twitter rant where she claimed ownership of the trademark and this being Courtney Love, she of course includes some credit card conspiracy nonsense in her tirade.

antiMusic reports: Slash has issued his latest update. Here is what he had to say: Hey all, what's happening? Everything's good on this end. It has been a pretty productive summer so far. My record should be done next month and the recording has gone smoothly and sounds fucking great. Steven Adler played on the first of the last three tracks yesterday, along with Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on bass. The song kicks ass and the drums and bass sound so recognizable and sound so fucking good. Steven is staying clean, which is great, Flea is just amazing, period. Steven, Flea and I all lived and met in the same neighborhood in West Hollywood back in the day. Yesterday, we had a great time reminiscing about when we all first started playing rock & roll and how school didn't fit into the plan, we were like 15. Flea was the first one to join an "established" band called Anthem, I remember being envious. I had a band called Tidus Sloan but we didn't have a singer. Sound familiar? Steven and I didn't really have a band together until a few years later when we joined Nikki Sixx's old band London after Izzy (Stradlin, ex-Guns N' Roses) left. Which, incidentally, was very short lived.

antiMusic reports: The Rapture's Gabriel Andruzzi took to the band's website on Monday to update fans on the status of the band. That includes the fact that the band are one man down as bassist player Mattie Safer has left the group for unspecified reasons. Here is Gabriel's update: I've been meaning to catch you up on what' s been going on in Rapture world. First off, I'm sad to say that at the begining of April our buddy Mattie Safer decided to leave the band. We are sad to see him go but it seems it is the best for all of us. Since then Luke, Vito and I have been on a creative tear. We've been working out of our little Brooklyn make shift studio, writing, demoing and jamming. I'm pretty damn excited to share the fruits of our labor with you. But its still gonna be a minute before we hit the studio for real. On the other hand, I am very pleased to announce that the people of the great continent of Australia will be some of the first to hear some of our new material live, when we arrive late September for Parklife festival. In the meantime, keep an eye on this blog and another on your neighborhood dance party, who knows maybe we'll be spinnin'.

antiMusic reports: August Burns Red's new album, Constellations hits stores this week. To celebrate the release we asked JB Brubaker and Matt Greiner to pick some of their favorite tracks from the album and tell us the stories behind the songs. They more than came through! Here is today's song "Meddler": JB Brubaker "Meddler" is one of the most upbeat happy sounding songs we've ever written. There is a huge lead section in the middle that is rather triumphant sounding. This song is easily my hardest song on guitar. I think I am play straight up lead parts for about 90 seconds straight and I think they're all kind of hard. The last breakdown in this song is one of the weirdest rhythms we've ever written, though it certainly doesn't sound that way. The breakdown beat is in 6/8 but there are 3 chords that accompany the melody that comes in over top of the rhythm. Those chords are in 4/4 so the chords cycle through the 6/8 rhythm in a very irregular pattern that we simply had to memorize. It took me a good hour to understand where the chords changed and probably another hour to get it into my muscle memory. Maybe I'm just a slow learner. Matt Greiner Jake and I collaborated on the lyrics and vocal patterns for Meddler. Initially I didn't have lyrics written for the triumphant sounding lead halfway through the song. Jake thought it would be cool to have the lyrics parallel the music and take a positive turn. We came up with "Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves," which at first sounded generic to me. However, after tracking the part and screaming gang vocals on the word "together," the part really came together for me. Meddler is easily one of my favorite songs to play. I experimented with some tom/snare stuff during the beginning of the first breakdown and I think it translates well and intensifies the part. In my opinion, this song is Jake's best vocal performance on the record. Learn more about the band, preview tracks from the album and more
