Naked Raygun Recording New Music
PR reports: Naked Raygun recently announced their first trip into a recording studio in over a decade. In two weeks the band is set to enter Transient Sound Studios in Chicago, Illinois to lay down tracks that will eventually be pressed on a series of 7" records. These songs represent the first new material written by the band since 1992 and their first recordings since 1997.

Easily the most influential band bursting forth from the initial Chicago punk rock explosion, Naked Raygun also holds the distinction of being the longest running. When many of their peers were either breaking up or going metal in the mid-to-late 1980s, Naked Raygun soldiered on with their trademark sound, combining infectious vocal melodies with muscular guitar and a precision rhythm section. Echoes of the golden era of Raygun sound can be heard in punk rock circles worldwide.

The band broke up in 1992 and save for a one-off reunion in 1997 to celebrate the release of the Last of the Demohicans collection, stayed inactive while band members tended to family business and occasionally other musical projects such as The Bomb and Pegboy. - more on this story

Europe Take A Last Look At Eden
Noble reports: Europe, Sweden's biggest selling hard rock band, today announced the September 14th release and full tracklisting of 'Last Look At Eden' - their eight studio album and first since the critically acclaimed 'Secret Society' (2006).

The album will follow 'Europe's first ever UK festival appearance when they headline the Bloodstock Open Air Festival in Derby on August 16th.

After shooting to worldwide fame in 1986 with massive hit single 'The Final Countdown' and album of the same name, Europe are back and stronger than ever before. Lead vocalist and founding member Joey Tempest says of 'Last Look at Eden' - "This time we're taking a new direction with our songs, and we're exploring different styles. There is a definite classic rock vibe on several tracks on this album – a tip of the hat to groovin', funkin' 70's rock songs, with a modern twist." - more on this story

Rhino Reinvents The 45
Submitted News reports: After its 1949 debut, the 45-rpm vinyl single went on to revolutionize the way people listened to music, both literally—requiring adjustable-speed players—and figuratively—introducing a global audience to the simple, yet profound joy that comes from playing a favorite song over and over. As the single turns 60 this year, history repeats itself. Digital bytes have replaced vinyl grooves, but the love affair with the hit song continues. As last year music fans downloaded more than a billion tracks; the most ever.

To celebrate the milestone, Rhino will spotlight songs originally issued on 45 by offering them as RHINO DIGITAL 45s, bundled with their original B-sides and artwork. Original picture sleeve art will be included when available and original label art will be used for all others. The first group of RHINO DIGITAL 45s will be available July 14. iTunes will feature a total of 60 digital 45s, including six exclusives. These will be featured in iTunes Digital 45, which showcases these new digital bundles inside the iTunes store. Among the iTunes exclusives are several singles featuring B-sides making their digital debut including "Take It Easy"/"Get You In The Mood" by the Eagles, "Kiss"/"Love Or Money" by Prince & The Revolution, and "Whip It"/"Turn Around" by Devo. The remaining 54 singles will be available at all digital retails outlets. Each following month, Rhino will release a new batch of 25 digital 45s to all partners.

The first group of RHINO DIGITAL 45s features a total of 31 tracks making their digital debut including Jackson Browne's "The Crow On The Cradle" (B-side of "Somebody's Baby"), Morrissey's "I Know Very Well How I Got My Name" (B-side of "Suedehead"), and James Taylor's "I Can Dream Of You" (b-side of "Shower The People). Other digital debut highlights include tracks from The Cars, Talking Heads, and Pretenders as well as single edits, radio mixes, and live versions from The B-52s, Deep Purple, The Doors, Faith No More, and Yes. Moby Grape Star Joins California '66 Revue Tour
conqueroo reports: Three premiere bands of the Los Angeles psychedelic era of the late '60s will join forces August 4-18, 2009 for the California '66 Revue tour. The Electric Prunes, Love and, for the April 12-18 dates, Jerry Miller from Moby Grape will bring the spirit of Sunset Strip and San Francisco in the late '60s up the East Coast and into Canada and the Midwest.

Miller joined the tour when Sky "Sunlight" Saxon of The Seeds, originally booked, passed away unexpectedly on June 25. The tour will continue in Saxon's memory.

According to promoter Patrick Hand, "A major reason I'm promoting this tour is that the Electric Prunes are the best rock band in the world right now. Just listen to 'Feedback.' They sound like 20-year-olds. The Electric Prunes are the only band from the 1960s who are putting out better music now than then. And the music they put out then was pretty damn good."

Deadwalk Recording Scandalous Album
PR reports: Montreal based Hardcore/Metal outfit Deadwalk have entered the studio to begin recording their debut full-length, "Scandalous" at Red Dusk Studio with producer Matt Laperle (Blind Witness). The group's debut is expected to hit stores in late 2009 through Year of the Sun Records.

"This new record is going to be the first time most people have ever heard of Deadwalk, so we wanted to make sure that it gets their attention. We've re-recorded a couple of the old standout tracks, but the majority of the record will be all new material. We've called the album 'Scandalous' and it will be over the top in every way possible," says Deadwalk frontman Greg Kepka. "It's also going to be really heavy, but I also think it has crossover appeal. The hardcore kids will enjoy it just as much as the metalcore kids. It will be something fresh for both new and old fans of the band. We're hoping to get across the intensity of our live show on the record. The music is still pissed, but fun and bouncy at the same time."

House Of Lords Releasing New Album
Frontiers Records reports: Frontiers Records proudly announces the release of the brand new House Of Lords album, entitled Cartesian Dreams, on September 18th in Europe and October 13th in North America.

Following the 2008's release of Come To My Kingdom, a record equally hailed by critics and fans as one of the highlights of the season, House Of Lords carved another masterpiece that sets in stone the legacy of one of the most productive and impressive bands of the scene.

"This new CD was truly a labour of love", says singer James Christian. "I was so fortunate to be able to work once again with my writing partner and friend Mark Baker. The last time Mark and I worked together was to write and record Demons Down. We have a great chemistry when it comes to writing songs. Jimi Bell once again gave us smoking tracks and Tommy Denander also put his contribution on a few great tracks." - more on this story
