(Gibson) Every musician knows that late '50s Sunburst Les Paul Standards are hard enough to come by as it is. Obtaining a pristine and exemplary '59 'Burst and modifying it for heightened performance and vastly expanded tonal options? Unheard of
unless, of course, you're Jimmy Page. That's exactly what the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist, perhaps the world's most iconic Les Paul player, did with his own '59 Les Paul Standard, and nowthanks to the extreme efforts of Gibson's Custom Shop and the intimate cooperation of Jimmy Page himselfthe artist's hallowed "Number Two" Les Paul is available to mere mortals, in the form of the Custom Shop Jimmy Page "Number Two" Les Paul. Produced in strictly limited numbers, with two levels of aging, this guitar captures the look, feel, sound, and versatility of one of the greatest artist-owned Les Pauls of all time, and it is likely to disappear from authorized Gibson dealers in record time.

(Metal Underground) Hypocrisy, have issued the following statement: "It seems Santa has come early this year for Hypocrisy! As previously reported, we were forced to cancel our recently scheduled tour with Ensiferum due to problems with work visas. Today we received the good news that we are now all cleared to enter the country. "We are currently planning to come back to the US sometime in early 2010! We will let everyone know very soon when the tour and line up is confirmed. Thanks to all our fans for supporting Hypocrisy all these years!" Hypocrisy had enlisted the help of Children Of Bodom guitarist/frontman Alexi Laiho to temporarily fill the vacant 2nd guitarist spot on their tour alongside Ensiferum, Ex Deo, Blackguard and Swashbuckle. Previously Hypocrisy had been in holding mode, fully expecting to join the tour that was already in progress at the time at a later date.

Bay-Area native Brett Dennen has partnered with Livestream to broadcast an exclusive New Year's Eve performance at the Fox Theater in Oakland presented by Life is good and Another Planet Entertainment. Starting December 31th at 8:30PM PST, fans can tune in to Brett's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/brettdennen), Website (http://www.brettdennen.net), or Livestream (http://www.livestream.com/brettdennenalolive) to view the broadcast." Joining Brett are Brushfire Recording artist and neighbors ALO, plus several local musicians at a party destined to be the Bay-Area kick-off to 2010. To kickoff this special New Years Eve performance, Brett will also interact with his fans on Livestream, with a special Q+A session from his rehearsals on December 30th at 3PM PST. The performance at the newly renovated theater marks Brett's first local headline since selling out two nights at the legendary Fillmore. He also recently engaged thousands at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park and supported Jason Mraz for a sold out show at Berkeley's Greek Theatre. This show completes a highly successful year for Brett supporting his most recent release Hope For The Hopeless, which appropriately begins with Bay-Area homage "San Francisco". Closing the year with a broadcast presented by Life is good makes perfect sense. Brett's 54-city winter-spring tour was featured Life is good as a partner, and both Brett and ALO played for tens of thousands at Life is good Festivals in Boston, St. Louis and San Francisco in the summer and fall. Their vocal support for the Life is good Kids Foundation throughout the year helped this nonprofit raise over $900,000 in 2009 for children facing life-threatening conditions.

Montreal based Derelict have announced they have parted ways with bassist Louis-Phillipe Roy and replaced him with bassist Joey Sciacchitano. The band released the following statement: "A significant change has been slowly occurring in our camp over the last few months. After weighing his priorities, Louis-Philippe has decided to move on from being in Derelict and focus on his studies and other potential career paths," commented frontman Eric Burnet. "He was kind enough to play the last few months of shows we had booked at the time and did not leave us in any kind of trouble. "His leaving comes as a blow to us, as his two-and-a-half year run with the band included our first shows outside Montreal, the writing and recording of Unspoken Words, our two first national tours, and our signing with Year Of The Sun Records. Needless to say, the man is our brother and he shall be missed. On the bright side, we are replacing one longtime comrade with another. Our new bass player is Joey Sciacchitano. Montreal concert-goers may know him as one of the driving forces behind Moshcore Productions, an organization that for many years put on multiple shows in Montreal, including large fund raising events for the Canadian Cancer Society that Derelict was part of on two occasions. Joey has already shown much focus and dedication on the bass and we can't wait to hear the sweet lines he's going to spin around our new riffs. Stay tuned for new promo shots and live photos with Joey in them!"
