The Light of Day Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce the 10th annual Light of Day concerts, to be held Friday, Jan. 15 at the Stone Pony, Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Paramount Theatre and the Wonder Bar, and Sunday, Jan. 17 at the Watermark, Langosta Lounge and Tim McLoone's Supper Club, all in Asbury Park, N.J. The concerts will aid the ongoing fight against Parkinson's disease by supporting research into more effective treatments and a cure, as well as supporting people who suffer from Parkinson's and related degenerative neurological disorders.
On Saturday, January 16th Ed Kowalczyk will headline the show at the beautiful Paramount Theatre on the Boardwalk. Kowalczyk, widely known as the lead-singer, frontman, and guitarist of the band Live, has built an impressive résumé with his bandmates that includes eight full-length albums, total CD sales exceeding 20 million, a huge international fan base and extensive touring all over the world.
Hosting the weekend's events will be Sopranos star Vincent Pastore, who will serve as emcee. Pastore played Sal "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero in the HBO series.
The Saturday night show will be Light of Day's second at the Paramount Theatre. The concert will feature performances by Kowalczyk, Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers, Jesse Malin, Willie Nile, Joe D'Urso & Stone Caravan and others.
The Friday night show will be at the world-famous Stone Pony, the oceanfront night club where Light of Day was launched 10 years ago. Bands on the main stage will include the Bob Burger Band, The Reveling, i-drive, Jobonanno & The Godsons of Soul, Maybe Pete, and others. A separate acoustic stage will spotlight over 20 solo performances by singer-songwriters.
On Saturday afternoon at noon, the Wonder Bar will open its doors to Light of Day. Located just across Ocean Avenue from the Paramount Theatre, the Wonder Bar will play host to Canadian bands Madhatters and the Roxwells. Other bands will be announced shortly.
At noon on Sunday, January 17th, Light of Day returns to the boardwalk for three separate special editions of the acoustic songwriters' series, "Songwriters By The Sea." There will be three unique panels of five songwriters each at three equally unique Boardwalk eateries/lounges.
The first set will begin at 12 noon at the Watermark, 800 Ocean Ave. The Watermark is part sophisticated drinkery and tapas bar, part music lounge and social club. The second set will be at the Langosta Lounge, 1000 Ocean Ave., at 3 p.m. Langosta Lounge serves vacation-inspired cuisine brought to you from the places we go and the passionate people and cultures which shape them.
