Akon Denies Female Fan Tossing
antiMusic reports: A PR firm sent us a statement from Hits & Jams Entertainment, the promoters of the August 30, 2008 concert featuring Akon where the rap star reportedly "tossed" two female fans during the show. They claim those reports are false.

Ace Show Biz reports that Akon "was videotaped, in between performances on the show, trying to 'crowdsurf to a camera stand about 100 yards off stage' and when he got there he grabbed one of the female fans and pushed her into the crowd as she tried to hold his hand. He then grabbed the other lady who tried to embrace him from behind and tossed her into the crowd." The promoters put out an "unedited" clip of the incident to show the "full story".

Here is the statement we received: "We are shocked to hear that there is a video clip circulating that suggests Akon treated a fan badly during his August 30th performance in Guyana. There were no incident reports stemming from the event. Despite a late start, the concert was a tremendous success and we hope that Akon will come back soon."

Ace Show Biz has more on the incident and denial as well as the video. - Check it out here

Misfits Pull Out of Motorhead Tour
antiMusic reports: We're waiting for word back from The Misfits publicist to see if we can get to the real reason behind the following news, but for now we can tell you that the current incarnation of the Misfits have pulled out of the upcoming tour with metal legends Motorhead.

Misfits frontman Jerry Only posted the following update on the band's website: "For the sake of our loyalty and dedication to all our fiends, the Misfits have chosen to withdraw from the lineup of Volcom's 2008 tour.

"The Misfits have always held an incredibly high standard of performance and quality in everything we do. Our fans expect this and deserve it. I will not compromise their expectations for any amount of money, prestige or fame."

We sure hope he wasn't saying that playing with Lemmy and co was beneath them. Perhaps Motorhead can call in Danzig to take the slot. In other news, Motorhead will be participating in three in store signings for their new album Motorizer. - details

Science Faxtion Feat Bootsy Collins, Buckethead, Brain and Greg Hampton Set Debut
PR reports: Like the bastard child of Primus and Parliament-Funkadelic (with Guns N' Roses claiming to be the father), Science Faxtion will have its outrageous Living On Another Frequency debut released by Mascot Records on October 28.

This dream-team of a band combines the legendary bassist Bootsy Collins—who, with James Brown in the 1960s and Parliament-Funkadelic in the 1970s, set the course of modern funk—with none other than Guitarist Extraordinaire Buckethead (Guns N' Roses, Iggy Pop, Mike Patton, Les Claypool, Bernie Worrell, Serj Tankian, Tony Williams and Bill Laswell), drummer Brain (Primus, Tom Waits, Godflesh), and producer/singer/songwriter/guitarist Greg Hampton (Alice Cooper/Ron Wood, Rick Derringer, The Tubes, Jack Casady featuring Ivan Neville & Gov't Mule, Jorma Kaukenon, Little Feat). The resulting cross-pollination of genres implicit in such a musical meeting-of-the-minds means there's no telling what direction Science Faxtion may traverse!

The CD features an allstar cast, including contributions from rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy, Bernie Worrell and others. Although Hampton produced, sang lead, composed and played guitar on Living On Another Frequency, he also plays bass, drums, keyboards and percussion, and has performed every genre of music in his wide-ranging career from funk, hard rock, metal and pop to country. - more on this story

SmashMouth Star Releases Solo Debut
PR reports: Greg Camp, guitarist and Grammy nominated songwriter has stepped out of the SmashMouth fold after 10 years. Having penned most of the pop outfit's multiplatinum hits, Camp has decided to take this step in an effort to further explore the hidden corners of his overactive pop muse.

The result to date is Defektor, a silky, 14-song masterpiece, and Camp's first full length solo effort. The album will be released on September 9th on Bar/None, the undeniable outpost of embraceable and offbeat sonic confections.

Defektor boasts songs about sticky-fingered hotel maids, unpredictable ex-lovers, the end of the world and strung-out super models and plays like a guided tour through Camp's diverse musical imagination. The album was written, recorded and mixed in Camp's new recording studio Seavolt Sound, where left to his own devices, he ditched all ballast and chased countless ideas down rabbit holes. He emerged from the studio with a healthy handful of shiny new songs, spanning influences from 60's pop, surf, garage, spaghetti western soundtracks, rock 'n roll, new wave, and funk.

Pitchshifter Reissue
MMP reports: Metal Mind Productions presents the rerelease of the fifth studio album from Pitchshifter the British metal/industrial metal band.

"Deviant" may be considered their softest album, with some very radio-friendly content. "Microwaved", "Genius" and "Disposable" include some of the noisy sound parts common in the band's previous songs, but the "Deviant" sound is completely stripped of the old noises. The album is enhanced with animated video made for the track "Hidden Agenda" and screen saver. The LP comes with 30 pre-moistened samples in ready-to-loop WAV format, and also with a mini Rat Bastard comic - a subversive, futuristic graphic novel about a half rat/half human private eye.

"Deviant" will be available on 29th September 2008 in Europe and 28th October 2008 in USA (via MVD). The new digipak edition is limited to 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc. - more on this story

Vader Address Band Changes and Future Plans
antiMusic reports: Vader have given their fans a lengthy update on recent happenings and where the band is going in the future following a recent line-up change. Short answer is they are moving full speed ahead, the long answer comes direct from the band:

"We would like to thank to all the participants of our anniversary gig: bands, fans and staff. Thanx to you all we were able to celebrate the 25 anniversary of Vader in so special way. Big thanx to fans for such a numerous presence, bands for fantastic shows they all played in Warsaw, guests for their appearance on this show and our crew for nearly 24 hours of hard work! It was a very important show for us, the more so because it took place in such a difficult circumstances. We were forced to give up an idea of recording DVD due to some technical issues. For technical reasons we were also unable to build a special stage scenery prepared exclusively for this show. Sorry for very long queues for food and drink and the high price of our energy drink - these things were beyond our control. The show ended up turning out well and despite these shortcomings we believe it was a success. Once again- thank you all! All the blood, sweat and tears poured into Vader have been worth it!

"At this point we would like to refer to the changes that have occurred in Vader. As you all probably already know, Mauser and Daray are no longer in the band and this anniversary gig was their last show with Vader. We would say that mentally, they both were out of the band from a long time. They played with us more like a session guys, without any real commitment and dedication. We were thinking about making some changes since a year or something, now we are glad to have this opportunity to build a new band. At the moment we are looking for some new musicians. Probably next week we are going to present you our new lineup. - more on this story

Nine Days SOS for Wantagh New York
PR reports: What started as an informal living room gathering of a few parents one evening launched as a full fledged 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, named Wantagh SOS (Save Our Students), just days later. Wantagh SOS's challenging goal is to raise enough funds to reinstate all student activities at all levels that resulted in cuts to student programs due to the contingency school budget.

Wantagh SOS is very much an 'all hands on deck' grass roots organization that has already garnered significant support from local politicians and businesses, several leading community organizations, parents and students alike.

Now, after raising over $530,697 - as of August 24th - they are producing a concert with a little help from their friends John Hampson (of Nine Days, hit song "Absolutely(Story of a Girl") - who is actually a Wantagh High School Teacher, and Paging Grace, one of the "best bands on Long Island" as voted for in the Long Island Press, who come from Farmingdale High School and dealt with austerity as students there several years back as well. - here are the details

Brian Head Welch (ex-Korn) Week: Day 2
antiMusic reports: Brian Head Welch shocked the rock world when he suddenly quit Korn following a religious awakening. While his new found faith is now the driving force in his life, Head's passion for music lives on with his solo debut "Save Me From Myself." To celebrate the release of this album we asked Head to pick some of his favorite tracks and tell us about them. Here he is with today's song:

"Loyalty": I wrote "Loyalty" right after I left Korn. I was thinking about my life and how I started to sell out to things that weren't me. For instance, the last couple of years I was in Korn, I felt like I was writing songs to please the industry rather than myself. The second verse is about abortion because I was thinking back to the time I tried to have my ex-wife get an abortion when she was nineteen. Somehow, the two subjects blended well together and it worked out killer.

We know you are anxious to hear what Head's new music sounds like, so you can grab previews from "Save Me From Myself," learn more about the album and Head's new autobiography and more right
