Fear Before The March Of Flames Lose The Flames
PR reports: Fear Before The March Of Flames has become Fear Before and will release a self-titled album on October 28th. Fear Before was recorded with producer Casey Bates in Seattle, WA this past summer. Bates also produced the band's 2006 release, The Always Open Mouth, as well as label-mates' Chiodos' Bone Palace Ballet.

Regarding the name change, guitarist Adam Fisher jokes, "It gets so tiring repeating 'Fear Before The March Of Flames' over and over again to old lady gas station attendants in Nebraska" but adds, "Mostly because in so many ways, we're a new band." Bassist Mike Madruga explains the long version of the name was a personal challenge to the members. Now that they feel they've met the challenge, it's time to get down to the roots of the band. "The long version of the name was good for us in the beginning because it was interesting and stood out. It paralleled our mentality of playing the music we were writing because we told ourselves, 'If we can pull off having this name, we had better be able to pull off the music we were writing.' The new album is 10 strong songs, no fillers or tag-ons... and we want the band name to replicate that."

The decision for a self-titled album seemed like a no-brainer. "It is essentially the same reasons as the name change. We want it to be identified by its songs," says Madruga. The songs certainly do reflect the new Fear Before. "Lyrically, this record is the most positive material we have done. It is a written history of all the emotions we have experienced through the course of the band's 6 years." Fisher adds, "A lot of it has to do with sticking around through all the hard times we've endured as a band. It's about growth and making mistakes but dealing with them instead of dwelling on them." - more on this story

Alabama Thunderpussy Break Up
BW&BK reports: Alabama Thunderpussy have called it a day. Guitarist Erik Larson has issued a statement explaining the breakup:

"It's been a very quiet 2008 from us here in ATP thus far. I know there has been speculation and uncertainty about exactly what the status of the band is, and our apologies go out to y'all for being MIA. Finally, I'm able to give you an update. The beginning of 2008 brought yet more upheaval in the saga that is this band, when (vocalist) Kyle Thomas left the group to focus on his family and the impending EXHORDER reunion.

The remaining four of us had a band meeting and after serious discussion, decided to take a much deserved/needed few months hiatus to regroup and focus on home life and other individual projects. The 'few months' seemed to flow into a bit longer as the summer progressed and we all dug deeper into our lives as individuals outside of ATP.

Well, we finally regrouped and after much deliberation and thoughtful discussion, we have decided to end the band. There are no hard feelings between us and no bullshit politics. It's pretty much just the end of an era - more on this story

It will be ready for TV and online consumption early next month.

"When I was writing 'Stay Back,'" explains singer/guitarist Jason C. Miller, "I thought about all the times people push each other away in relationships, maybe from clashing ideals or just being afraid of something good. I assumed the role of the person who knows he's a spoiler, but has enough morality left to warn the other person." - more on this story

Two Cow Garage Set Release
PR reports: Columbus, Ohio-based outfit Two Cow Garage will release their fourth full-length, "Speaking In Cursive", October 21, 2008 on Suburban Home Records.

Comprised of Micah Schnabel (vocals, guitar), Shane Sweeney (bass, vocals), Chris Flint (guitar), Andy Schell (keyboards), and Cody Smith (drums), the outfit, which plays more than 200 shows a year (and has for the past six years), has made their darkest, yet most rewarding record to date, writing songs that deal with the problems and dilemmas of growing up, coming to terms with ones dreams versus reality, as well as songs about substance abuse, the wasting of youth (and the effects on your friends when youth is stolen too soon), navigating the troubled waters of relationships, and, of course, crushes-turned-heartbreak.

With "Speaking in Cursive", Two Cow Garage has brought on a permanent keyboard player with Andy Schell, helping the band expand on their guitar-bass-drum combo, adding depth and richer melodies to the heartbreak-on-the-sleeve lyrical bite and rock attack that Two Cow Garage is already known for.

Dragonette Mini Tour
PR reports: Bouncing from the East to the West coasts and destined to wow audiences with their revivalist new wave synth-pop, Toronto-based quadruplet, Dragonette, are now embarking on a much welcomed four-date mini-tour this fall in the United States.

With the pending release of their refreshing debut album Galore (I Surrender Records through Red Distribution) out on October 28th, watch out for their dirty electronica beats and synths, trunk full of hooks, neon-doused live shows and downright naughty delivery and vocals by the bands star front woman Martina Sorbara.

The band, which was named after the singer's ipod, possess an edgy dance rock sound with a bubble-gum pop lining. Lead vocalist and sultry siren, Martina Sorbara, formed the band in 2005 when she met her future bassist, and future husband, Dan Kurtz at a Canadian music festival. Martina, with her poppy songstress vocals and deep desire for some driving eccentric pop dance beats, eagerly agreed to leave behind her successful solo career and form what was originally just the dynamic duo, Dragonette. - more on this story

Ike & Tina Turner Blue Thumb Years Reissued
conqueroo reports: Although Ike Turner is often credited with recording the first rock 'n' roll song with 1951's "Rocket 88," his career took a leap when he met Anna Mae Bullock and re-named her Tina Turner. Their first collaboration was "A Fool in Love," released in 1960 on Sue Records, and the two later hooked up with producer Phil Spector, resulting in the 1966 wall-of-sound smash "River Deep Mountain High." 1969 found Ike and Tina returning to their blues roots with a pair of albums that Ike leased to Bob Krasnow's Blue Thumb Records — The Hunter and Outta Season. The two albums will be combined to form an 18-song single-CD reissue titled Ike & Tina Turner Sing the Blues as part of Acrobat Music's Premier Series. Street date for the collection is October 21.

The Hunter and Outta Season were recorded when Ike, fed up with pressures from the labels such as Sue to create new product every year, launched his own Pompeii label, proceeding to release recordings by the Ikettes as well as by himself and Tina. The albums he leased to Blue Thumb in '69 were along the last independent projects Ike would undertake before signing to United Artists, where he and Tina recorded "Proud Mary" and several key long-players.

Both Blue Thumb albums were blues-oriented, and showcased Ike's superlative guitar work — which had taken a back seat during the early Ike & Tina years — as well as Tina's stunning vocals. The songs were largely blues standards but there were a couple of original numbers. "Bold Soul Sister," for instance, was a very un-bluesy track and was a sizeable hit for the duo, as were Tina's interpretations of Albert King's "The Hunter" (equally well known for the version cut by the British band Free) and her testifying version of Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long," a standard in the Ike & Tina Revue's live '70s shows.

Brian Head Welch (ex-Korn) Week: Day 3
antiMusic reports: Brian Head Welch shocked the rock world when he suddenly quit Korn following a religious awakening. While his new found faith is now the driving force in his life, Head's passion for music lives on with his solo debut "Save Me From Myself." To celebrate the release of this album we asked Head to pick some of his favorite tracks and tell us about them. Here he is with today's song:

"Rebel" is about abused children rebelling from abuse and turning to a radical life of faith rather than a life of violence, drugs and crime like so many kids do. My daughter, Jennea, sang on the verses along with six other kids that made up the kids choir. It's cool to be able to include my kid in my music now. She was always pushed aside when I was in Korn.

We know you are anxious to hear what Head's new music sounds like, so you can grab previews from "Save Me From Myself," learn more about the album and Head's new autobiography and more right - here!
