Music Radar reports: A conman reportedly tricked local authorities in the English town of Dover into thinking that he was Status Quo star Francis Rossi, despite looking absolutely nothing like him. Fake Francis, aka 'Graham', is believed to be a stonemason by trade, but he had no qualms about posing as an expert in a different kind of rock in order to get free hospitality from Dover Town Council. Claiming that he would perform at a festival in the town and invite celeb friends including Paul McCartney, Brian May and Charlotte Church, 'Graham' was treated to limousine rides and expensive meals. He even judged a local beauty contest. We're pretty sure he'd do whatever you want.

PR reports: Satyricon has signed a North American recording deal with KOCH Records. The Norwegian outfit will release its seventh studio album, The Age of Nero, on January 13, 2009.Largely written in a remote cabin in the Norwegian mountains by headman Satyr, The Age of Nero features eight of the most ashen, yet fascinating songs in Satyricon's critically acclaimed history. From the unstoppable urgency that drips from the roll out cut 'Black Crow On A Tombstone' to the epic frenzy of 'Die By My Hand' and through to the bleak nihilism of album closer 'Den Siste', The Age of Nero dispatches both rocking blackness and a chilling sonic intensity.

PR reports: Tommy Keene, the critically acclaimed power-pop pioneer, is set to release his first solo album in nearly three years, In The Late Bright, on Feb. 17 via Second Motion Records. The 11-track album, co-produced by Keene and R. Walt Vincent (Pete Yorn, James Blunt), was recorded in Keene's Los Angeles home earlier this year and features a wide range of songs from the rollicking opener, "Late Bright," to his first recorded instrumental ("Elevated") and the wistful "Save This Harmony." Keene, a DC-area native whose resume is littered with cred-building milestone after milestone, released his solo debut Strange Alliance in 1982. However, it was a six-song EP (Places That Are Gone, 1984) that brought him national attention, landing him atop the venerable Village Voice Pazz & Jop critic's poll. Since that time, Keene has won numerous fans and accolades and shaped modern power-pop. Keene has also become an in demand player, touring and recording with Paul Westerberg and Robert Pollard. His most recent release, Blues and Boogie Shoes, was a duet with Pollard, dubbing the outfit the Keene Brothers.

PR reports: School of Seven Bells are currently out on the road with M83. Helmed by Benjamin Curtis and sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza, they came together in 2004 while their bands - Secret Machines and On-Air Library!, respectively - were on tour. While watching PBS at 3am, Alejandra caught a show about the School of Seven Bells: a mythical South American pickpocket academy that may or may not have existed in the '80s. The idea of seven minds working as one appealed to her, as did the phrase's cryptic musicality, and a creative spark ignited. After early recordings popped up on Sonic Cathedral, Table of Elements, and [Career] Suicide Squeeze, the band landed at Ghostly International and released their highly acclaimed debut full length, Alpinisms. And now with their 7" single Half Asleep/Caldo, School of Seven Bells is stylishly splitting the difference between shoegazing introspection and stargazing dream pop.
