BW&BK reports: Christchurch rock fans' long-lived prayers have been answered BON JOVI will play their only New Zealand concert in the city next January. Over the past decade, die hard Bon Jovi fans in New Zealand have been resigned to travelling overseas to see the band known for hits such as 'Livin' On A Prayer' and 'You Give Love A Bad Name'. A website petition has more recently been circulating requesting a full Bon Jovi tour for Australia and New Zealand. The group - which has sold more than 120 million albums and played 2500 concerts in more than 50 countries - yesterday announced it will be stopping over in New Zealand to play a one-off concert at Christchurch's AMI Stadium on January 27. [a good sign for the fan club members angry at changes they see as rip-offs in the club, the band apparently do respond to petitions. While the fan that started a petition against the fanclub recently backed down once word actually got out about it, it's now up to an enterprising fan to start a new one. We'll help spread the word! - now visit the following link for

The CD will include audio from "a small show in front of family and friends" which will take place on November 9th while the DVD will be a making-of chronicle "that shows everything from when we were trying out the band members to rehearsals leading up to the recording of this show".

antiMusic reports: Former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler is taking his show back on the road. The band is once again revamped and this time will feature Bang Tango / Beautiful Creatures vocalist Joe LeSte out front, according to Sleazeroxx.com. The band will head to Europe later this month, kicking off in Peterborough, England on Nov 21st and hitting Ireland, Spain, Italy and Norway. Aside from Adler and LeSte, the band will include Kristy Majors(Pretty Boy Floyd), Chip Z'nuff (Enuff Z'nuff) and Michael Thomas (we believe of Bang Tango/Pretty Boy Floyd fame). Hopefully this European outing will go smoother than the one in 2006. In January of last year, Adler had a bit of a meltdown a few shows into the tour and decided to fire the entire band. It looks like the fences were mended as Thomas and Z'nuff were part of that lineup.

PR reports: The Acacia Strain has officially added Unholy guitarist Jonathan Dennison to their line-up on second guitar. This marks the latest addition to Dennison's extensive resume, which includes Path Of Resistance, Santa Sangre, Another Victim, and The Promise. The Acacia Strain will depart for a headlining tour later this fall with support coming from Despised Icon, Full Blown Chaos and The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. "I couldn't be happier with our decision," comments The Acacia Strain frontman Vincent Bennett. In my eyes, J.D. is the ideal choice. Everyone is really excited to have him on board and we can't wait to see what he has to offer this band. We're wicked excited for this tour. I've wanted to tour with all of these bands forever, and we finally are. We are going to be playing some songs that we haven't played in forever or haven't been able to play due to the lack of a second guitar and will be showcasing a new song or two.

When Axe this Summer opened for Queensryche at Sunken Garden Amphitheater in San Antonio to an attendance of over 5,000, and reportedly the audience literally went wild. Six weeks later, Axe was back in San Antonio headling at Hemisfair Park to a capacity crowd. And again, the band showed its magic and held the audience in their hands.

antiMusic reports: If you are curious as to why music sales seem to be sinking faster than the Titanic, some of the major labels launched an effort a while ago to highlight exactly what is wrong with today's popular music in the form of a string of comp CDs featuring music that will be out of fashion almost as soon as the cellophane wrapping hits your trash can. A PR company sent us a press release a half a dozen times within a couple hours on Friday so they just needed you to know, otherwise we'd probably have ignored it. Here is the hype, oops press release about the latest installment: The world's best-selling multi-artist album series, NOW That's What I Call Music!, will ring in the holiday season with the November 13 release of two scorching collections of today's hottest tunes. PR reports: Scott Borchetta, President/CEO of Big Machine Records, announced today the official launch of "The Valory Music Co.," a sister imprint to his independent Big Machine Records label. "We are extremely excited to announce that we have entered into a multi-album deal with one of the most amazing female vocalists of all-time, Jewel," says Borchetta. Her first single for The Valory Music Co. is scheduled for the first quarter of '08. "Our objective for The Valory Music Co. is to continue the momentum that has been achieved with Big Machine by not only replicating our current culture and our recent successes, but also by taking everything that we've learned over the last two years and pouring it into this exciting new venture," explains Borchetta. "We continually re-engineer what we think we know and we feel like we've identified an incredible opportunity with the simultaneous availability of some incredible artists and record executives. The energy that has come together for this launch is truly incredible." With over 27 million albums sold worldwide and with three Grammy nominations under her belt, Jewel's Country roots go back to her upbringing. "I grew up on a ranch in Alaska, and my favorite memories are of sitting around a camp fire with my father and listening to the songs he wrote and sang. It was pure country music, and it has made me a sincere fan of country music ever since," says Jewel.

Warchest would have worked far better as a two-CD set featuring only the "33 previously unreleased tracks." Fill in the gaps with bits and pieces from albums they already own, and it just starts to feel like a rip-off. (3 stars)

Counter-balancing my initial reaction of the ugly cover art, SeepeopleS' newest record is a terrific collection of songs that will not fail to pull at your heart strings. This sounds like Genesis in the Trick of a Tail period, although with more of a strong pop sensibility. (4 stars)

A great mix of melodic hardcore type riffs and headbanging choruses, this CD cant be beat. This album is a definite listen and really worth something if you're looking for some new metal that isn't typical hardcore.
