UK
Deny Snoop |
Gigwise reports: Snoop Dogg is considering
going straight to the Prime Minister Tony Blair over the decision to deny
him a British visa.
The rapper has been blocked entry to continue
his current tour with P Diddy following his part in a brawl at London’s
Heathrow Airport last year, but is attempting to overturn the decision.
His spokesperson says in a statement, “Snoop
still sincerely hopes that the British Government will reconsider their
decision and UK shows will be allowed to go on as planned. [What the fizzle

Weiland
Fight Leads To Charges |
TMZ reports: Velvet Revolver frontman Scott
Weiland and his wife trashed a Burbank hotel room during a rockstar-caliber
rampage last weekend, and now the hotel is pressing charges against the
Weilands for the damage they caused.
Sources tell TMZ that Weiland and his wife
Mary ripped alarm clocks and phones from their sockets and threw them,
made "dents and gauges" in the walls, and that there was even blood found
on some of the linens afterward. (A picture taken at the scene shows a
note attached to a trash bag that says, in Spanish, "with blood.")
The trouble started when Mary arrived at
the hotel Saturday, whereupon the couple got into "a huge argument" witnessed
by their two young children, who had to be taken away by Weiland's assistant.
Weiland himself then left, leaving behind Mary, who could be heard throwing
things in the room. The police were called, and the hotel is pressing charges
for the damage caused. There's no word whether either Weiland or his wife
were injured in the spat.[see full story for more]- Click

Paul
Simon Vs Oasis |
PR reports: AjantaMusic founder and leader
Paul Simon, not the Garfunkel one, today announced that he will never attend
another BRITS presentation ceremony, not that he has ever been invited
to one in the past. "My brother Robin, the other member of AjantaMusic,
used to play with Ultravox and Magazine, and I was in a band with Glen
Matlock of the Sex Pistols. And they give the Outstanding Contribution
to Music award to bloody Oasis? Hello?"
The 5-foot 6 chillout giant, whose duo
is gigantically popular in the Balearics, and also among listeners to the
influential National Public Radio programme, Echoes, in America, is similarly
disgruntled with the Oscars. "I can understand their giving it to Melissa
Etheridge," he grumbles, "in view of no one actually having used one of
the tracks from our 2006 debut album And Now We Dream in a film. But somebody
bloody should have, innit?" [see full story for more - this press release

Judas
Priest Legend Calls RIAA Silly |
Blabbermouth reports: "The Classic Metal Show"
recently interviewed legendary JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing about
a number of topics, one which was the proposed raise of royalty rates by
the RIAA that would, in essence, put Internet radio out of business. Downing
stated that he found the proposed royalty rates to be "just ridiculous,"
and admitted that he's never received a check from the RIAA for royalties
allegedly collected in his name by the organization. An excerpt from the
conversation follows:
The Classic Metal Show: The Record Industry
Association of America. They're going after Internet radio stations to
pay a very high royalty rate in order to broadcast copyrighted music. Basically,
just to give you the gist of it, in a year's time at the royalty rate they
are asking, an Internet radio station that, say, serves 1,000 listeners
365 days a year, the royalty rate that they would have to pay in order
to stay in business would equate to about $200,000 a year.
K.K. Downing: Well, that's just ridiculous.
That just doesn't stack up, as you say. That just doesn't equate. What's
the equation? Who put that together? That's obviously silly. [see full

Kids Prefer Hard Rock |
KNAC reports: Researchers say they've found
a clear link between hard rock music and intelligence. The claim came after
a study of the musical tastes of 1000 brainy youngsters found they preferred
the likes of Ozzy Osbourne to Mozart.
The survey was carried out by a team at
the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth at Warwick University
in the UK, And they've even come up with an explanation. [see full story

following update: “After going though tons of audition videos, we’d like

us and to the rest of the crowd that he’s the perfect guy for the band.
