Fall
Out Thieves? |
punkbands reports: Knives Out is considering
taking legal action against platinum-selling pop punks Fall Out Boy. Nicholas
Hans alleges the band took a phrase and concept from a T-shirt he designed
and used it for lyrics on a track from the multi-platinum 2005 record "From
Under the Cork Tree."
In 2001, Hans' former band Knives Out,
toured the U.S. and sold a black T-shirt with a drawing of a hand with
a ribbon tied around the wrist and the phrase "Don't Open Till After X-Mas."
The line "The ribbon on my wrist says, 'Do not open before Christmas,'
" is part of Fall Out Boy's song "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of
This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" (which refers to an unrelated matter).
"They 100 percent ripped us off," Hans
told us yesterday. "It just pisses me off. They should have asked," says
the artist/musician. [see full story for more including how FOB kind of
sort of "borrowed" lyrics in the past] - Click

Britney
Goes Punk |
Waste of Education Dollars reports: [This
BS story was too funny to pass up. Yes Virginia, you will find the hotbed
of punk thought on college campuses. Or is it poser punk? This guy is convinced
that Britney is now punk rock. He obviously has too much time on his hands
between groupthink indoctrination sessions… Oops, make that classes. Here
is a little highlight to give you a good laugh for Thursday.] Britney is
now a punk rocker. In 1960s Paris, artists invented a cultural theory known
as the Situationist International, which claims the ideas of anti-materialism,
that the possessions and wealth people accumulated are not their to control,
but that such things control them. It also decries every person as essentially
not special, standing in sharp contrast to America's consumer culture.
This theory served as the catalyst for the punk rock movement and inspired
Malcolm McLaren and the Sex Pistols to create a new genre of music, deriding
the value of boring television, boring riches and a boring life of pretending
one is special.
Born on Dec. 2, 1981 in Mississippi, Spears
was, from the beginning, raised to be a star. By 8 years old she was auditioning
for the Disney Channel's "The New Mickey Mouse Club," and at age 16, Spears
dropped out of high school to pursue a solo singing career. [ok, maybe
it's satire but beware if this yahoo is actually serious! You can read
the entire absurd article at the full of sh*t link] -

Ozzfest
to Feature Lordi, Lamb of God, Hatebreed and more |
PR reports: Finland’s monster rock n’ roll
band LORDI have been selected as one of the mainstage acts for OZZFEST
2007, alongside mainstage headliners Ozzy Osbourne and Lamb of God. The
band - who released a special 2CD/DVD version of The Arockalypse (with
bonus tracks/videos) this week via THE END RECORDS – are excited to be
on this much-anticipated annual tour across North America, referred to
this year as ‘FreeFest’ because all tickets to the event are free.
“It is a great honour for us to be on OZZFEST
and obviously it is gonna be a great opportunity for us to show the people
in the U.S. what we can do…or what they think we can do. [laughs]," comments
Mr. Lordi about the opening slot on the mainstage that starts July 12th,
2007 in Seattle, WA. "My best friend is a huge Ozzy fan he’s really jealous
of the whole thing. I’m gonna try and remember to pick him up an OZZFEST
t-shirt when we return to Finland. For us the idea of playing OZZFEST is
still hard to believe. I’ll believe it when we’re there.”
Confirmed bands performing on the second
stage includes Hatebreed (second stage headliner), Mondo Generator, Ankla,
Circus Diablo and Nile. [see full story for the dates in our spiffy new

5 Goes Extinct |
SMN reports: JURASSIC 5 have called it a day
and hung up their mics. MC Soup of the group, which will surely yield some
solo projects, revealed:
“Some people may say it’s a creative thing,
but I’m not buying it. Some might say business, some might say merchandising,
whatever, there’s some really stupid s***, some really childish things,
happening. When it comes down to it, some people here want their own shine,
their own thing. If that’s what you want, I say more power to you. I hope
it works out for you - just don’t come up with lame excuses.” [see full

Success Borne Online |
PR reports: On the morning of the 13th of
February 2007 the Band "Borne" had no idea what was about to take place.
The boys were excited about their album "Loss of Signal" being made available
all over the world and thought a large audience might be exposed to their
music. But everyone was overwhelmed by the amazing worldwide response.
The guys have always valued the online community and appreciated the level
playing field provided by the MySpace and YouTube revolution.
On the 23rd of Febuary Loss of Signal was
sitting in the top 20 on the Amercian Billboard Digital charts www.billboard.com
as well as being catapulted into the TOP 50 in Japan and New Zealand, the
TOP 20 in the UK and Canada, and the TOP 10 in the USA, Australia and France
on iTunes. With the single getting airplay on stations in the USA like
Indy 103.1 and securing deals with advertisers and films in the USA, the
word on Borne is certainly starting to circulate with powerful decision
makers.[see full story for more]- Click
