Day in Rock reports: We're celebrating the
recent release of Tesla's 'Reel to Reel' this week. Frank Hannon will be
giving us some insight into the making of several songs from the new CD
with his studio diary. We kick things off with the Tesla version of the
Led Zeppelin classic "Thank You". Here is Frank:
Tues, Nov 21, 2006 at 10:12:55 PM - This
is the last day of recording before we go home for Thanksgiving break.
We had a dreaded band meeting trying to decide which songs to record for
2 hours. We had originally thought of recording the "Song Remains The Same,"
but felt this song would really be a great song for JK to sing. ZUT tried
to tell me it wasn't possible to track this song tonight, so when he and
Jeff left to make dinner, I worked with the band and we recorded it. (Thank
God you don't hear my scratch vocal!) Troy nailed the Bonham drum fills
and we ended up breaking for dinner. I knew we had a great take of the
song and I was psyched for Zut to hear it since he said it was impossible.
After dinner at about 3am Mike and I recorded the acoustic part in 1 take.
The guitars solos I played are from the scratch track and are live. JK
sang the song beautifully and we made a hybrid of the original Zep 2 version
and the "un-ledded" version to make our own.

Punkbands reports: Several audience members
have been hurt at the Heineken Jammin' Festival in Italy yesterday after
a lighting and sound system collapsed. According to early reports from
the site, following strong winds and heavy rain, the ground under the delay
towers on site, which support the lights and amps, became unsteady and
fell down.
"I've never seen weather like it," one
eyewitness said "My Chemical Romance were due to play but then the sky
just went black. There were really strong winds and massive hailstones
and everything just got blown away. The sound desk, tops of stages, everything.
It was really shocking."
Ambulances have been called to the site,
and it is believed at least nine people have been hurt and have been taken
to hospital, suffering leg fractures and head injuries.[see full story

Jam! reports: Avril Lavigne may revive the
Christmas album some day.
And Lavigne's take on a potential Christmas
album will surprise some people.
"I would make it completely traditional,"
Lavigne said.
Talk of a possible Christmas album came
up when it was pointed out to Lavigne that at this stage of her career
-- having "made it," so to speak -- the 22-year-old really can do whatever
she wants, musically or otherwise. [see full story for more]-

Sleazeroxx.com reports: Better finish the
books on your summer reading list by the end of August. That's when Everybody
Wants Some: The Van Halen Saga (Wiley Publishing) hits bookstore shelves.
Written by noted metal journalist and radio host Ian Christe, the book
recounts the life and times of the L.A. group that rose to hard rock dominance
in the late Seventies.
The book begins with an account of Van
Halen's explosive arrival on the California hard rock scene in 1978, revealing
the powers of lead singer David Lee Roth, wunderkind guitarist Eddie Van
Halen, good-natured bassist Michael Anthony and complex drummer Alex Van
Halen.
The story follows the band's development
and success, through Sammy Hagar's replacement of Roth in 1985, and his
own replacement by former-Extreme singer Gary Cherone in the late Nineties.
Along the way, appearances are made by
prominent supporting players, including Eddie Van Halen's wife Valerie
Bertinelli, musical collaborator Michael Jackson and business partner Gene
Simmons of Kiss.[see full story for more]- Click

SMN reports: LENG TCHE have issued the following
statement:
It has come to our attention that our
ex-drummer Svencho has been contacting several festival promoters to force
us off the bills. Not only did he screw us over by cancelling our appearances
at Summer Blast and Queens of Metal in Germany, but hes also succeeded
in getting us off the bill at Flanders Fields of Death and Caos Emergente
in Portugal. Since we are grown men we feel no need to start an Internet
war but its fairly obvious that this is blatant sabotage. Therefor please
contact us directly concerning all future shows.

SMN reports: MEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN, featuring
former members of GLASSJAW, have hung up their dancing shoes and announced
their departure from Warner Bros. Records:
"Men women & children would like to
proudly proclaim our freedom from our now former home at warner/reprise
records. We are free to explore the best options for the future of the
band. Our forthcoming album will NOT be affiliated with WBR nor will it
suffer from the poor distribution our debut endured. We are very lucky
for this freedom to explore the right options for us since most contractually
obligated bands can end up crippled by a lack of both passion and resources.[see
