Rollins,
Mars Volta and John Waters |
PR reports: Here's a guide to this Friday's
episode of The Henry Rollins Show - Episode 3: In this week's Teeing Off,
Henry sees a direct link between the Army developing video games for kids
and the possibility of an Army draft in the future.
John Waters sits down to talk to Henry
about his oeuvre of sleaze and his battle with the movie ratings board
over sexually explicit content.
In this installment of Letters from Henry,
Henry asks Toby Keith why he tries to promote a blue-collar cycle of boozing
and borrowing money to sell records.
And, The Mars Volta, in an extremely rare
television appearance, perform an uncut, unabridged version of Day of the
Baphoments off their album, Amputechture. The Mars Volta also perform another
song "Tetragrammaton" exclusively on IFC.com. [you can grab at the full

Every
Time I Die Get Dirty |
Every Time I Die reports: "Unless you're a
sorority girl, you're probably not accustomed to dudes telling you that
something called "the big dirty" is about to invade your personal space.
Well we here at Every Time I Die are doing just that, so open your holes
wide. Your EAR holes. This August, Ferret Music will release what can only
be described as "Every Time I Die's newest album" known as "The Big Dirty".
Chock-a-block with riffs that only 4 months of a Buffalo, New York winter
could spawn, this new record will undoubtedly satisfy those that have followed
the band since their first full length release "Last Night In Town" all
the way through "Gutter Phenomenon". And if you were one of the 38 confused
men who strayed somewhere along that interim, we welcome you back with
open arms. You want ironically distasteful rock and roll pretenses? You
got em. You want riffs so filthy they should have a moustache and wear
elastic work out pants when they go out to eat at the Olive Garden? Right
here, boys. You want mosh parts so brutal it could star opposite Charles
Bronson in ANY of the Death Wish movies? Come get some. Produced by Steve
Evetts, The Big Dirty is the CD you would compile if asked to make a mix
of the BEST Every Time I Die songs you haven't heard yet. Ten plus tracks
that tore from our filthy hands like the creature that jumped out of that
dudes stomach in Alien. If this ain't your favorite heavy release of the
year, I'll eat my damn hat.Look for us on Sounds Of The Underground this
summer with Chimaira and GWAR. And if you're in Australia, firstly "G'day
Mate!" and secondly get your ass ready for us and Norma Jean in early June.
Who's buyin?"

The
Ballad of Joe Strummer |
PR reports: REDEMPTION SONG: The Ballad of
Joe Strummer will be published by Faber & Faber on May 23, 2007.
The importance of The Clash to modern music
is almost impossible to overstate. One of the first bands of the punk tsunami
that swept England and the US, The Clash is credited with kick starting
a movement and infusing their music with elements of reggae, rockabilly,
and even a little dance, leading the way to the wild genre crossovers found
in today’s groups. While the entire band was integral to the success of
The Clash, it was their charismatic front man, Joe Strummer, who personified
the mission and ideals of the burgeoning punk movement to a generation.
REDEMPTION SONG: The Ballad of Joe Strummer is journalist and friend Chris
Salewicz’s biography of both sides of Joe Strummer—the rock n roll outlaw
whose lyrics to songs like ‘Rock the Casbah’ and ‘London Calling’ are still
a must-know for aspiring musicians, and the more introspective John Mellor
(Joe Strummer’s given name), a man deeply influenced by the early loss
of his older brother to suicide and unable to escape a lifelong depression.

Himsa
Enter Studio |
PR reports: Seattle-based metal quintet HIMSA
entered the studio today to begin recording their Century Media Records
debut. The group will track the drums, bass and guitars with Steve Carter
(who produced HIMSA's “Courting Tragedy and Disaster” album); Devin Townsend
(Lamb of God, Darkest Hour) will be tracking vocals and Tue Madsen (The
Haunted, Heaven Shall Burn) will be handling mixing duties. The album is
currently set for a late-summer release.
Derek Harn (bass) states: “The new album
draws from the strengths of our last two records, “Courting Tragedy and
Disaster” and “Hail Horror”, but this is an entirely new chapter for HIMSA
and our fans. Sammi Curr (guitars) wrote a lot of the music for “Courting”,
and Kirby Johnson (guitars) wrote most of the tracks on “Hail Horror” (when
Sammi wasn't in the band), so the two of them have joined forces to craft
a whole new level of rage. We’re looking at about 10 or 11 songs right
now, and are extremely proud of them.[see full story for more]-

King
Biscuit Flower Hour Revisited |
PR reports: Looks like the Bob Lefsetz has
unearthed vintage recordings from the King Biscuit Flower Hour. In the
latest Lefsetz Letter he RAVES over the live version of Pat Benatar’s “Fire
and Ice” dating back to 1981. He also got wind of Steve Miller’s live version
of “Baby Callin’ Me Home” from the live concert performed at Beacon Theatre
in NYC back in 1976. Both live performances are up for sale – well at least
available for download at www.concertvault.com . It seems that long lost
musical gems of the past are now only a click away.- Click

Love,
Lies, and My Life with Styx by Chuck Panozzo |
PR reports: Amacom Books will be releasing
THE GRAND ILLUSION: Love, Lies, and My Life with Styx by Chuck Panozzo
with Michele Skettino nationwide on May 15th, 2007.
A founding member of Styx and its iconic
bass player, Chuck Panozzo remembers what it was like on the road to success,
riding between local gigs in the back of a station wagon, and at the peak
of his fame, playing before thousands of screaming female fans and torrents
of panties, bras, and propositions. He also recalls the loneliness and
gnawing fear of being found out and exposed as a gay man. He tells the
story of his struggle to come to terms with himself while navigating a
rock ‘n’ roll odyssey in THE GRAND ILLUSION: Love, Lies, and My Life with
Styx.

Autumn
Black Book Some Dates |
PR reports: Most up-and-coming metal bands
use the word 'intense' to describe their sound and live show. But after
listening to the debut album from Autumn Black, 'Beneath the Shadows,'
these folks are truly, no B.S., 100% i-n-t-e-n-s-e. One of the first-ever
releases for the newly launched Tyburn label, 'Beneath the Shadows' is
sure to appeal to both metalheads and hardcore thrashers, as the group
likes to describe their sound as 'east coast metal + west coast hardcore
= Autumn Black.'
