Today's report is a little shorter than normal because of April
Fools. We didn't want to post too many bogus stories for ya, being
a day late and all. (although we did include a couple of good ones).
Static-X
Week: Win a autographed ESP LTD EX-50 Metallic Silver Guitar |
PR reports: Static-X is breaking out of Hell’s
sub-basement to release their fifth studio album, Cannibal, tomorrow (April
3rd). Comprising 12 of the harshest, most stripped-down tracks Static-X
have ever recorded, Cannibal also finds frontman Wayne Static & Co.
sounding leaner and meaner than they have in years—a change the vertical-haired
guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter attributes to the back-to-basics
approach they took to recording the album. “I think it’s the most metal
record we’ve ever made, and it’s arguably the heaviest record we’ve ever
made,” Static explains.
To celebrate the release of Cannibal, the
band is giving you the chance to win an ESP LTD EX-50 Metallic Silver Guitar
autographed by the band. So don’t miss out on your chance to get your own
Static-X ESP guitar. Enter now at the full story link and be sure to pick
up Cannibal tomorrow. - Click

USA Today reports: Apple and music label EMI
plan to announce "an exciting new digital offering," EMI said Sunday, renewing
speculation of a deal to put the Beatles music catalog online. However,
a source familiar with the situation said a Beatles deal would not be featured
at the event Monday.
"There is no Beatles' announcement," the
source said.
EMI said that it plans to hold a news conference
Monday at its London headquarters, where EMI Chief Executive Eric Nicoli
will be joined by Apple Chief Executive and co-founder Steve Jobs [here

Maroon
5 Go Rap |
PR reports: In a project already being hailed
as the most anticipated rock-rap collaboration since Jay Z teamed up with
Linkin Park, Grammy Award winning group Maroon 5 has entered the studio
with Oakland emcee Casual to record an album to be released early this
summer.
The seed for this most unlikely of collaborations
came about last summer when Casual and the members of Maroon 5 met while
playing at the Bonnaroo Festival. "We hit it off right away, and the next
day, on a lark, I sat in with them during their sound check. I knew all
of their hits because I had been listening to them on my tour bus, so I
freestyled over a few of their tracks and it sounded amazing," explains
Casual. After the initial jam session, they kept in touch and started sending
tracks back and forth to each other via email. Both parties were extremely
happy with the songs that came out of these exchanges, and agreed that
they should put out a "summertime party album," according to Casual. [have

GNR Leak |
Blabbermouth reports: On Thursday, March 29
at approximately 7:00 p.m. EST, a full-length, studio-quality version of
the GUNS N' ROSES song "Madagascar" was leaked onto the Internet.
The track, clocking in at 5:41, was released
as the result of some "cunning" work by a well-known forum member.
Many fans initially speculated that the
track was a fake. However this theory was dispelled by GN'R guitarist Ron
"Bumblefoot" Thal who revealed that the recording was "not an album cut,
but an old demo."[see full story for more]- Click

RIAA
"Idiots" Nailed NIN Promotion |
Idolator.com reports: Not to toot our own
horns, but today we got a nice little bit of confirmation that those Nine
Inch Nails leaks from a month or so ago were actually the work of Trent
Reznor, and that the RIAA acted a bit too hastily in calling in their lawyers.
From Billboard: According to one post, a male fan, allegedly by happenstance,
found a USB drive in a bathroom stall during a NIN concert at the Coliseum
in Lisbon, Portugal. This flash drive (yes, Reznor's idea) contained an
MP3 of album track "My Violent Heart." Additional USB drives were purportedly
found in Barcelona and Manchester, England; they included MP3s of album
tracks "Me, I'm Not" and "In This Twilight," respectively.
Excited fans then began swapping and sharing
these music files online. Another Web posting alleged that all this activity
resulted in entertainment blog Idolator and other sites receiving e-mail
from the Recording Industry Association of America, demanding that they
remove the MP3s from their sites. An RIAA representative confirms this,
a move that boggles the minds of many. "These f*cking idiots are going
after a campaign that the label signed off on," the [label] source says.[see

Out Screech |
punkbands reports: If been taken to court
by 2 bands already (Give Up The Ghost/Knives Out), wasn't enough, Fall
Out Boy, and in particular master 'lyricist' Pete Wentz are in trouble
again. This time a former writer on the hit U.S show Saved By The Bell
has accused the pop goons of at least 28 counts of plagarism, stating that
" hearing the bands songs is like going over old scripts". He then when
on to say "this is ridiculous". [ok, this was posted April first but was
