Eleven-Years-Old Broadway Star Battling For Her Life, Perhaps You Can Help?
Out of adversity, comes hope. Please keep this in mind as you read the following story and perhaps you will be the one to help?: At just eleven-years-old Shannon Tavarez already had a promising Broadway career. She was performing four shows a week as young Nala in The Lion King. Everyday Shannon juggled a full day of school before rushing to the theater for an evening show at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway-- She was living her dream.

Now, just two months later, Shannon's dream is simply to grow up. In April Shannon was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. The talented young star was performing when the symptoms first hit. Her lower back and legs suddenly started hurting making it hard for her to perform or even walk. "When I found out, it hit me really hard, like someone was throwing a ball at me. It was shocking and I thought, why me?" said Shannon. Now she lives at Schneider Children's Hospital in Long Island where she receives daily chemotherapy treatments. A bone marrow transplant from a stranger may be her only chance at survival.

Shannon's mother is African American and her father is Dominican. Only eight percent of the seven million registered donors are African American which means that only seventeen percent of African Americans in need of a transplant will receive one.

Mark Ronson Video Directors Collaborate Again
The directors behind Mark Ronson's "Circuit Breaker" music video have released their second collaboration. Yesterday, Gary Breslin and Jordan Galland released a new video for Galland's song "Free Love."

An ethereal pop track off of Galland's own solo-release, Search Party, Jordan stayed in front of the camera this time around with Breslin directing. "Free Love" chronicles the late-night adventure of a gazelle-like blonde who sneaks out of her boyfriend's bed and winds up in the middle of a choreographed, psychedelic dance routine with a number of equally graceful, somewhat trippy, ladies. Waking up in an empty bed, her boyfriend (Galland) sets out into the woods looking for her.

Unlike the Nintendo animation Breslin and Galland created for "Circuit Breaker," "Free Love" was shot on a Canon 5D digital camera, which gives the live action video an almost fantastical look thanks to the ultra-vivid colors and image clarity. This is the second video Galland has released for Search Party; the stop-animation music video for the album's title track was released earlier this month.

The Spires Double Releases
The Spires have announced two upcoming related releases. Their will release their Curved Space EP, via Beehouse Records on July 13, 2010.

In addition, The Spires will also be releasing Absent Minded Window Gazing, a five-song collection of tracks from Curved Space, that has been reimagined and remixed by the mysterious Grafton.

Absent Minded Window Gazing is a conscience departure from the original efforts recorded by The Spires on Curved Space. All songs were reimagined by a mysterious source named Grafton who prefers to take his success in anonymity - there exists absolutely no clue as to whom this could be. The dissident rouge beautifully transports the original music of The Spires to a parallel time and space removing it from the context of glorious plaster walled Californian pop. - more on this story

Donavon Frankenreiter Summer Tour
Donavon Frankenreiter has announced his summer tour plans which are in support of his releases Revisited (June 15th) and upcoming LP Glow (Fall).

"I am so excited to get back to the east coast to play some music and catch some waves. We will be performing songs off the Revisited record that is all Hawaiian style and our upcoming album Glow, " says Donavon.

After moving to Hawaii two years ago Donavon could not help but notice how beautiful the Hawaiian music was. Inspired by his surroundings, he went into a studio in Kauai and picked 10 songs off his first album to re-record with a Hawaiian feel-using ukulele, lap steel, slack key guitar and other Hawaiian instruments. "It was so much fun to go and revisit an album I had done in Hawaii six years earlier but with a different feel. I hope you enjoy revisiting these songs with some Hawaiian instruments as much as we did," Donavon says.

RuPaul's Drag U
Logo have announced details of the new show starring RuPaul. Here is the 411: This summer, RuPaul is pulling back the sequined curtain to provide a very special education to a few lucky biological women with "RuPaul's Drag U," premiering on Logo Monday, July 19 at 9/8c.

"RuPaul's Drag U" will take an incoming class of beauty-starved, confidence-drained women and teach them the essential elements of sexiness, sass and spunk that have long been the calling cards of every great drag queen. The students at "RuPaul's Drag U" arrive in groups of 3 each week, representing a different spectrum of today's modern woman such as: the blue-collar tomboy, full-figured gal or overworked mom -- to 70's TV Star. At orientation, the ladies are put through "The Dragulator" – a highly advanced piece of machinery that will reveal the ladies' full drag potential. Next, they are paired with a carefully selected drag faculty mentor who'll be responsible for helping the women achieve their drag dreams through an outrageous lesson plan that will challenge them inside and out. The heart-stopping drag transformations are unveiled at the culmination of each episode in a musical performance before an audience of family, friends and the judges' panel.

The judges assign each student a D.P.A. (Drag Point Average) based on their live performance and overall transformation. Only one woman will be declared the valedictorian of each class, but all students will "draguate" with a boost in confidence, self-respect, and a whole new take on the power of femininity. - more on this story
