Bruce Kulick, the former KISS guitarist
was shot in the leg outside a nightclub early Thursday morning. (see
story)
Kulick has issued the following statement
on his website:
Guitarist Bruce Kulick is recovering at
home, after being released early Thursday morning (October 16) from Cedars-
Sinai hospital. The main discrepancy in previous news reports was that
the venue he attended last night was at THE KEY CLUB and Bruce was not
involved with the altercation that occured at the RAINBOW BAR AND GRILL.
Here is Bruce's report:
"I had a great time at the Key Club seeing
Vince Neil perform.
Highlights of the night included seeing
my old drummer from Union--Brent Fitz-- play with Vince. It was amazing
to see Motley Crue's founder and bassist Nikki Sixx getting up to jam with
Vince and his band.
After thanking the band for the show, I
left the club at 1:20 a.m. I was walking down the street (Sunset Blvd)
just outside of the KEY CLUB to get my car with my friend when shots rang
out.
I felt my right leg hit and my left temple
glazed from at least two shots. I shouted Get down! but never saw the shooter
and did not realize the gunshots were fired from the gunman a half block
up the street near the Rainbow.
My friends called 911 and it was then I
realized that a bullet went into my thigh just above the right knee.
The police and the paramedics were called
amongst the confusion, and I was taken quickly to Cedars Sinai. Upon a
thorough examination at the hospital it was realized that the bullet went
through my thigh, missing the major artery and bone. I was very lucky in
this matter, although I am in pain and uncertain how long recovery will
take.
My hearing is fine, the temple wound was
bleeding for a while, and the doctors called it a very fortunate "abrasion".
To think what could have happened from that bullet if my head was not in
the position it was that night is a horrific thought.
It was certainly a case of being in the
wrong place at the wrong time, walking in a public street having no knowledge
of any altercation in the vicinity. Of all the hundreds of people exposed
to the gunfire, it is mindblowing to think of shots being fired in a crowd
of innocent people.
Ive received many messages and phone calls
wishing me well and really appreciate all the support from my family, friends,
and fans from around the world."
