Former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick was shot
in the leg outside a nightclub early Thursday morning.
Kulick and another man were hit by bullets
when a 21-year-old man opened fire from outside the Rainbow Bar & Grill
on Sunset Blvd. The man had gotten into an argument inside the club and
retreated to his car, grabbed a gun and opened fire from the street.
Kulick was not the intended target, he
was standing outside a near by club and got caught by a stray bullet in
his leg and another bullet grazed his head. Another man inside the Rainbow
was shot in the foot. Both Kulick and the other victim were treated
at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and released.
The unnamed suspect fired 4 to 7 shots
from his 9 MM handgun before several people tackled him to the ground until
Los Angeles Country Sheriff Deputies showed up and arrested him, according
to a report from AP.
The suspect was arrested and booked with
assault with a deadly weapon and was treated for injuries incurred when
he was detained by the crowd.
Kulick was a member of KISS during their
unmasked days. He joined the group in 1984, to fill in for guitarist Mark
St. John during the bands Animalize tour. St John could not play guitar
due to a rare from of arthritis. Although he was only supposed to be a
temporary replacement Kulick became a fulltime member of the group and
remained with them until the original lineup reunited and remasked in 1997.
After leaving KISS, Kulick formed the group
Union, he later tried his luck solo with two albums and also played with
a reformed version of Grand Funk Railroad.
