Queensryche Singer Vs Queensryche Singer
(Classic Rock) Todd La Torre has branded Geoff Tate's Queensryche album cover a "cheap shot." Tate's Queensryche released Frequency Unknown earlier this month. Its cover art shows a fist wearing a Queensryche 'trirych' emblem on a ring, with the capital letters F and U on either side.

La Torre's lineup have announced their own album will be self-titled and it's due out on June 24 via Century Media. They'll tour the UK in October after scheduling problems forced them to postpone a visit planned for this month.

The former Crimson Glory singer insists Tate's album isn't the real deal. He tells KNAC.com: "I don't even acknowledge it as a Queensryche album. The guys that play on the record are not the guys that you see onstage, and aren't the guys that wrote the songs. It's a revolving door, dude, it's not Queensryche. What I'm in is Queensryche."

Of Tate's title he says: "A monkey can decipher what that is. It's below the belt. To me, it's not what Queensryche was about. Queensryche wasn't about the cheap shots – it was always more respectful and intelligent of that." See the cover art and read more here.

Another Member of Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain's Family Arrested
Another member of Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain's family has been arrested. Earlier this year it was his wife and now his 20-year-old son is facing charges.

Justin McBrain was arrested early Friday morning and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail in Florida on burglary and second degree petty theft charges.

Local news outlet Boca News Now reports that a sheriff's office spokesperson told them that deputies were called out after McBrain allegedly forced his way into a West Boca, Florida home.

They report that "The female homeowner reported that McBrain knocked repeatedly and then pushed his way in when the door was opened. McBrain allegedly rifled through the woman's purse, taking a half-eaten chocolate bunny, half of an orange — which he consumed in the home — a belly ring, cosmetics, and a freezer pack."

Justin's arrest follows the February arrest of the Iron Maiden drummer's wife Rebecca. She has pleaded not guilty of a battery charge stemming from an alleged failed attempt to stab a man with a decorative lance and assault with fire logs. Yes Discussing Making A New Album With New Singer
(Gibson) Progressive legends Yes are considering recording a new album in 2014 with new vocalist Jon Davison, according to keyboard player Geoff Downes.

Downes tells Bravewords.com's Martin Popoff that there has been talk of tackling another album after the band's current run of touring is through.

"You know, we've discussed it, and certainly I think Jon would be a very useful contributor to that," Downes says. "And it would be nice to do an album with him. Because we did an album with Benoit [former vocalist Benoξt David, who recorded Fly From Here with the band in 2011], but we would also like to do an album with Jon."

Davison joined Yes in February 2012 after Benoξt David suffered respiratory failure. Davison, formerly of Seattle band Sky Cries Mary, was recommended to Yes bassist Chris Squire by Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. more on this story

Sound and Fury Festival Canceled
The organizers of the Sound and Fury Festival in Santa Barbara, California has broken the bad news to fans that they have been forced to cancel this year's festival.

The festival was scheduled to take place July 26, 27, and 28 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds. The organizers issued the following explanation the cancelation:

"It's over. We are sorry to bring you this unfortunate news but the 2013 edition of the Sound and Fury Festival is cancelled. We apologize to everyone from the bottom of our hearts for having to do this, but it was unavoidable.

"In order to quell speculation, you will hear the absolute truth from us. Due to unforeseen circumstances and the massive financial risk it takes to run a festival, we have to cancel this year.

"We are just two people, running a festival that brings in over 60 bands and 1,800 kids to Santa Barbara every year. The amount of logistics and headaches this encompasses one can only imagine, needless to say from March to July our lives don't feel our own.

"This year, we put together what we thought was an amazing lineup with amazing sponsors that all spread the word of the festival far and wide. We as organizers have to weigh the pros and cons of doing a festival and not losing tens of thousands of dollars in the process.

"Plain and simple, we couldn't take that risk this year.

"To all of the bands, sponsors, friends, co-workers and attendees, we are very sorry.

"Tickets will be fully refunded at the point of purchase (No Sleep Records) and should be completed by weeks end. If you bought a ticket, you will get your refund but be patient as we are sorting out the best way to get that to you."

Bob Seger Celebrates Stranger in Town 35th Anniversary In The Studio
This week's edition of In The Studio celebrates the 35th anniversary of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band's 1978 album "Stranger in Town."

Seger joins the show's host Redbeard to look back at the hit release. They sent over these details and quotes: For Seger Stranger In Town was his first effort following the 1976 breakthrough Night Moves.

Stranger was an album Seger blazed through, producing hits like "Hollywood Nights", "Feel Like a Number", "Still the Same" and "We've Got Tonite", a song Bob says was inspired by a popular 1970s film.

"I saw the movie The Sting with Robert Redford and Paul Newman, and I remember that scene where Robert Redford goes to the lady who ran that cafe, at four in the morning and he's trying to get away from the bad guys. And he says, 'It's four in the morning and I don't know anybody.' And she lets him in. And that's where the idea for 'We Got Tonite, forget about tomorrow', came from." Stream the episode here.

Vampire Weekend Perform New Songs Live
(Radio.com) Vampire Weekend's Amex Unstaged concert on Sunday night (April 28) was a mix of old favorites and new songs from the indie-rockers' upcoming third album, Modern Vampires Of The City.

Most fans online (the Steve Buscemi-directed show streamed via Vevo and YouTube) and as well as those physically inhabiting New York's Roseland Ballroom heard the new songs for the very first time.

It is a rarity in this day and age that fans had not heard the album, considering its May 14th release date is a mere two weeks away. Even the band joked about the fact that the album hasn't actually leaked yet.

"We're excited for you to hear it," frontman Ezra Koenig said. "And surprised you haven't yet."

The record's first single, "Diane Young," shows off Koenig's best Elvis impression and live, becomes even more of sock-hop favorite. Its B-side "Step," is a gentle ode to a dude who just won't stop hitting on another guy's girl, while brand new song "Obvious Bicycle" is a percussion-driven mid-tempo jam that shows off Koenig and Rostam Batmanglij's harmonies together. The Sword Release 'Cloak Of Feathers' Video
(Classic Rock) The Sword have released a new music video for the song Cloak Of Feathers, which is taken from fourth album Apocryphon.

Last year guitarist Kyle Shutt explained: "The album is a reflection of everything we've been through and the lessons we learned. We deal with the situations metaphorically in our lyrics."

But he added: "The record is just ten banging hard-rockers. There's no stick-out thrash song, or, like, 'This one is the ballad.' It's just kick-ass rock songs."

In keeping with their retro approach, The Sword released Apocryphon as a limited-edition cassette tape. Check out the new video here.

Doogie White and La Paz Release Don't Drink With The Devil
(Classic Rock) Doogie White and La Paz have released new track Don't Drink With The Devil. It's taken from the band's latest album, The Dark And The Light, due out on May 27 via Metal Mind Productions.

Former Rainbow and Yngwie Malmsteen singer White formed La Paz in Scotland in 1984. A few years ago he reactivated the band with guitarist Chic McSherry, bassist Alex Carmichael, keyboardist Andy Mason and drummer Paul McManus. They released Granite, their first recordings since splitting in 1988, last year.

"I never thought La Paz would never record another album," says White. "I knew we had at least another one in us. It's a natural thing we have. Chic's songs for this album have traditional La Paz influences, but we're older and more travelled, and his ideas outwit the great traditions. It was challenging for us both to write it, but we knew what we needed." Watch the video and read more here.

Tracer Release El Pistolero Video
(Classic Rock) Tracer, the winner of the Best New Band award at the 2012 Classic Rock Roll Of Honour, have released a video for the title track of their upcoming new album, "El Pistolero".

In an age where "guitar rock" has come to mean anodyne 80s-flavoured indie fare (with the fashion sense to match), this Australian three-piece favour dirt over beauty, distortion over subtlety and tinnitus over timidness.

A classic power trio in every sense of the term, theirs is a sound that merges the desert rumble of Kyuss with the epic scope of Zeppelin, topped off with a hint of grunge's malevolence. Watch the video here.
