Black Sabbath To Rock New Song on CSI Finale
Black Sabbath will appear in the season finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and premiere a song from their forthcoming album on the show.

They will premiere the song "End of the Beginning" on the May 15th finale of CSI. The announcement states that show's stars Ted Danson and Marc Vann's characters attend a Black Sabbath concert as they "investigate a trail of murders with horrifying similarities to the sins in Dante's Inferno."

"When we first heard that Black Sabbath was interested in premiering a song on 'CSI' from their first studio album in 35 years, we were all really excited," said executive producer Don McGill. "So many of us are longtime fans. And seeing as the album is titled '13' and this is the finale of 'CSI''s Season 13, it seemed like the perfect match. We couldn't be more thrilled."

The band will release their reunion album, "13," with Ozzy Osbourne on June 11th, their first album with Ozzy since 1978's "Never Say Die."

Apart from Ozzy, the album features original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. Original drummer Bill Ward was replaced by Brad Wilk for the recording due to a contract dispute.

As we reported last week, Black Sabbath will be launching a tour of the UK and Europe on November 20th in Helsinki. The tour will include stops in Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, France, Italy and the Czech Republic. more on this story

Bill Wyman Says No Thank You To The Rolling Stones Tour
(Gibson) Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman has said that he is not interested in rejoining his former band. Wyman played with the Stones for the first time in 20 years in London in November last year.

The Express asked Wyman what he would say if Mick Jagger asked him to rejoin the band: "I'd say 'no'…Thirty years was great but I've got better things to be doing now. That time has gone."

Wyman seems to be upset that he only got to play on two songs with the band: "I thought I was going to get quite heavily involved because I was led to believe that throughout the year by them," adding "Keith [Richards] in particular made me think that I would be a large part of it but when it came to it they told me they only wanted me to do two songs. It was fun but I regretted not playing more. I was a bass guitarist, a rhythm guitarist; I have to be on the button from the moment Charlie [Watts] does that first drum roll… I came off just as I was warming up and getting into it."

When he was asked if he wanted to join the Stones for the US leg of the anniversary tour, Wyman turned down the offer: "When they asked me to go to America for two weeks to do three shows there, I said 'For two songs? No thank you'." It remains to be seen if Wyman will be invited to play with the Rolling Stones at any of their upcoming UK gigs this summer.

Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying and Miss May I Tour
Killswitch Engage have announced a North American late spring/early summer tour that will feature support from As I Lay Dying, Miss May I and Affiance.

The tour is set to kick off on May 30th in Oklahoma City and will conclude on July 8 in Joliet, IL. Killswitch Engage will be touring in support of their new album, Disarm the Descent.

"Everyone in the Killswitch family is excited to get out on our first U.S. headlining tour in support of our new record," says frontman Jesse Leach said. "We are hitting some great cities and have a great mix of songs from every era of Killswitch as well as of course a handful of new ones."

Leach continued, "We look forward to sharing this tour with our old friends and brothers in metal As I Lay Dying. I personally have never had the chance to tour with them and I am looking forward to having such a quality band out with us to give this tour even more fire! We will also be joined by a talented and up-and-coming band Miss May I. Thanks to all the U.S. fans for your support! Our live show will be full-on energy with all of us ready to take this to a whole new level."

Bassist Mike D. adds, "We are super excited to be back out with our good buds in As I Lay Dying! They are some of our favorite dudes to hang with on the road, so assumptions are high that utter chaos shall ensue. There will be so much metal riffage -- you could build your own Carnival Cruse Ship. That's right, 'CHUGGA CHUGGA Paralysis' is surely imminent."

Gregg Allman's Story To Be Made Into Movie
(Gibson) Filmmakers Randall Miller and Jody Savin have purchased the rights to Gregg Allman's best-selling memoir, My Cross to Bear. Miller and Savin will write the screenplay together, and Miller will direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie-making duo say they will focus on two aspects of the musician's life: tracking his journey to success through the formation of the Allman Brothers Band and their explosion onto the music scene, and the portrait of an older Allman who recognizes and conquers his demons.

"We knew it was a great story, but didn't know how great it was until we read the book," said Miller, who added that the memoir's arc of "uplift" is what attracted them. "That journey and coming out the other side is not the normal falling-into-hell story that rock and roll often is."

Allman and his manager, Michael Lehman, will serve as executive producers. Savin and Miller said they will work closely with both men to make the story as authentic as possible. more on this story

Middle Class Rut Set New Release Date For New Album
Middle Class Rut have pushed back the release date of their new album, Pick Up Your Head" to June 25th from the original May 21st.

The album was self-produced by the band and mixed by Dave Sardy (Johnny Cash, LCD Soundsystem, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds).

Vocalist/guitarist Zack says the new album is "an evolution of a lot of ideas we had as the writing for No Name No Color was winding down. I think we exhausted what we could do in the confines of just drums/guitars/vocals. Once we embraced the idea that anything goes, the songs poured out."

You can check out the video for the album's first single, "Aunt Betty" here.

Type O Negative Members Silent In Late Frontman Peter Steele Biography
Type O Negative members have apparently decided that they did not want to contribute to a biography about their late frontman Peter Steele.

The book is set to be released on Halloween and will be called "Soul On Fire: The Life And Music Of Peter Steele," but the book's author, metal journalist Jeff Wagner, has informed fans that Steele's bandmates have shied away from helping him tell Steele's story.

Wagner posted the following message on the book's official Facebook page: "I'm disappointed in the recent decision of the surviving Type O Negative members to not cooperate in the telling of his story. Between January and April, I established contact several times with each of them. Despite emails and phone conversations which were cordial and, I thought, positive, they have made this decision for reasons still unclear.

"On the upside, more than 40 people have participated and shared thoughts, emotions and recollections for this project. This includes people verifiably close to Peter – family, close friends, music industry figures, members of Fallout, Carnivore and session musicians for Type O Negative. This book is being written in tribute to Peter and it is going forward at full steam.

"Josh, Kenny, and Johnny have my contact information. The door is always open for them to take part, albeit prior to its release, currently scheduled for October 31st.

I'd like to believe Peter is having a good laugh at all of us right now."

Kadavar Premiere New Album Online
(Classic Rock) Classic Rock are hosting an only premiere of German psychedelic hard rock trio Kadavar's second album Abra Kadaver.

It's due out on April 15 via Nuclear Blast, and represents an attempt to blend Black Sabbath and Pentagram with early Hawkwind – while adding a pinch of the band's own personalities.

Abra Kadavar follows their 2012 self-titled debut, and was recorded at the end of last year. Drummer Tiger says: "We sat down for two weeks straight to finish composing with total commitment. We're perfectly happy with the outcome – I'd even say that it comprises the best compositions we've created to date.

"The songs are more diversified, the ideas feel more spontaneous. Moreover, we've tried to capture much more of our live energy, which is why we've recorded almost everything all together in one room, with the amps turned up to the max – only the vocals and a handful of guitar solos were added afterwards." Listen to the album here.

Singled Out: Set To Reflect's More than Familiar
Today Tony McVaney from Set To Reflect tells us about the song "More than Familiar" from their brand new EP "A New Path to Walk On". Here is the story:

The battle of man versus the evil inside. When I was writing the lyrics to this song, I secluded myself. Reflected on my sins. Visualized the demon of giving into temptation. The first line of the song, "This is between you and me" is me talking to that demon.

As the song progresses, the demon is becoming stronger and stronger until it eventually overtakes the body. Transforming and disguising its actions as me doing them. Then near the end of the song, when there is nothing left but desolation, destruction and heartbreak that surrounds me, I snap back to reality realizing what the demon has made me become. I separate myself from it and watch it die but it takes a piece of me with it. Every now and then it haunts me, re-showing the shadow of itself to remind me of the world it brings when I let it take control.

I feel that everyone at one point has done something they know they shouldn't have. Only to do it for selfish gain or to live too shallowly in the moment and we have to live with what we've done. But that doesn't mean we have to always live that way. Let the shadow remind you.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Spiritual Beggars Premiere New Song
(Classic Rock) Spiritual Beggars have released a new track, Kingmaker, which comes from the band's eighth studio album, Earth Blues, due out on April 15 via InsideOut.

Guitarist Michael Amott recently said of the record: "We started the recording process with an eight-day-long session with knob-twiddler Roberth Ekholm – a truly great dude who really knows how to capture a band jamming live. Sadly a rare quality in recording engineers nowadays!

"We continued with some overdubs at various studios in Sweden, and it's all come together super easy this time. Sonically, I think this might be our finest hour yet. It's a raw, heavy and honest record." Check out the song here.

The World According to Jack White
(Gibson) Nobody does rock quite like Jack White. The Detroit-bred singer and guitarist got the world's attention with the White Stripes, the garage rock, punk-blues duo featuring his "sister," er, ex-wife of sorts Meg White, and his career has grown exponentially ever since.

From the White Stripes to the Raconteurs to the Dead Weather to his work as a solo artist, White's career trajectory is anything but boring. Add to that his record label, Nashville-based Third Man Records, and it's obvious White is here to stay. In this feature, we look back at some choice quotes from White over the years.

On first hearing the White Stripes song "Fell in Love with a Girl" on the radio, as told to Rolling Stone in 2002: I just laughed. I mean, it would be Staind, P.O.D., then us and then Incubus. Half of your brain is going, "What is going on? Why are we even involved with this? This is pointless." The other half is full of people going, "No, this is new, a quote revolution in music unquote, and something is going to change now, because of you guys and the Strokes and the Hives, and music is going to come back to more realism."

On how the White Stripes evolved over the years, as told to American Songwriter in 2007: I've gotta be honest and say because of the structure of the band, in a lot of ways it's exactly the same as it was 10 years ago. We still are doing exactly what we want to do, and nobody is really telling us to alter it, or trying to manipulate it in any way. It was the same when we were just putting out 45s and putting together posters in our living room… and recording the albums in our living room. It's the same way as it is now. We're still going into a record, recording it and writing it using the exact same processes we were using 10 years ago, and I really like that a lot.

I think a lot of bands, especially in the modern times…now everyone's got this need to constantly reinvent or feel as though they should reinvent or evolve. The White Stripes are unique in the sense that it doesn't evolve; it stays the same because of the constrictions we've placed on ourselves from the get-go. We're wearing the exact same colors we were wearing 10 years ago at the very first show. We're still contained in that box.

On his relationship with White Stripes drummer Meg, as told to Rolling Stone in 2002: As soon as you say something, people make up their own minds as to what it means. I'm sorry, but I have to pick and choose how those things are presented because I don't want people to think the wrong thing. I think the only focal point should be the songwriting and the music and the live show. The whole point of the band isn't, Are we really brother and sister, are we husband and wife; whether we're really from the city or just pretending, or whether we liked sandboxes as kids or the monkey bars. more
