Roger Waters Rules Out Future Pink Floyd Reunion
(hennemusic) NME reports Roger Waters has dashed any hopes Pink Floyd fans had for a reunion of the legendary group by telling the BBC that he has "no wish to reunite with Pink Floyd ever again."

"I'm really glad that I was in that band for the 20 years that I was in it and I really enjoyed it," said Waters on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs show Sunday morning. "I think we did some great work together but I have no wish to do it ever again."

Rogers' comments come just two weeks after he was joined onstage by former Floyd bandmates David Gilmour and Nick Mason at London's 02 Arena, as part of Waters' "The Wall Live" tour. The unannounced May 12 guest appearances happened during Waters six-night run at the venue, shows that were being filmed and recorded for future release. more on this story

Metallica's Hatfield Goes Back To School
(RockAAA) Who says you can't go home? From self-described misfit to metal legend, Metallica's James Hetfield had a homecoming of a different sort on Friday: James was inducted into his high school's hall of fame.

Hetfield received a special induction for attending Downey High in Downey, California during his freshman and sophomore years, an era of great personal difficulties for a young man at the centre of a family torn apart. "I'm here to talk about the tough times that I made it through," said James. "My father left when I was 13 and my mother passed away when I was 16. I didn't get to finish high school here, which was very unfortunate, 'cause I did have a lot of friends here, and I ended up moving to a new school and having to live with my older brother.

"So high school was not the best time for me. But music was a savior — a very big savior in my life — and I was able to climb into other people's heads and their records and get involved in music and, basically, instead of hanging out at school, I went home and practiced guitar, and that was what I did." He has a lot more to say here

Rolling Stones Keeping Rod Stewart From Faces Reunion
(Gibson) Rod Stewart has explained the reason for his refusal to participate in the recent Faces reunion. According to the Daily Express, Rod wants Ronnie Wood to quit The Rolling Stones.

Stewart told Billboard: "The trouble with Ronnie, we get together and we mess about, but the thing is, he is still committed to the Stones. Talking for myself and the rest of the band, we need a commitment, not just, 'Well, I've got next month off.' It doesn't work like that. It's not very professional.

"If he can give us the time, then I'll commit to that as well. Until he's finished with the Stones, whenever that will be, I can't commit to it. I'd love to. I really would love to." more on this story

Original Ozzy Osbourne Band Member's Platinum Album Stolen?
Former Ozzy Osbourne bandmate Bob Daisley was a bit shocked to find his platinum award for the classic 'Blizzard of Ozz' album up for auction online.

Last Thursday his website had the following message: "Bob would like to thank members of Ultimate Rhoads for alerting him to the fact that a dealer in music memorabilia was attempting to sell the platinum disc that he was awarded for his contribution to the album 'Blizzard of Ozz'. After seeing the listing on eBay, Bob made the following statement:

'That is the platinum award disc for 'Blizzard of Ozz' that I was supposed to receive from Canada but didn't. I got all the others from the US and Canada but not that one for some reason. It's rightfully mine and no one else has the right to sell it and make money from it. I would never sell, give away or part with any of my award discs.'

"Bob's message was passed on to the woman selling the disc on eBay. She was informed, as was eBay, that the award disc is stolen property. The woman responded with: 'To assume that this is a stolen item is unjustified.'"

"The fact remains, the award bears the name 'Bob Daisley', so whoever took it did so knowing that it was awarded to and intended for Bob and nobody else. We were told that she had removed the platinum award disc from eBay. We asked if she would contact Bob to discuss the matter further but that hasn't happened as yet and our last email to her hasn't been acknowledged."

In other news, Bob tells fans "Over the years, I've noticed that many of the lyrics that I've written have been reproduced inaccurately, not only on the Internet but on actual album notes as well. To rectify this, I thought that it would be a good idea to have the true and correct wording as a reference on my website. Everything that I've written will gradually be documented but it seems only fitting to kick off with the lyrics for 'Blizzard of Ozz' and 'Diary of a Madman' to mark the 30th Anniversary of these two classic albums." It's definitely a must read for Ozzy fans. Check it out here.

(hennemusic) Rush fans will have a new live DVD in their hands this fall. MusicTap.net reports Concord Records will release a Rush DVD with an undetermined title on September 27, which most likely refers to a live DVD of the band's April 15 performance at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Sgt Pepper Artist Feels Snubbed By The Beatles
(Gibson) Despite the acclaim he has received over the years for the cover art of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, British pop artist Peter Blake feels that he has been underappreciated by The Beatles, themselves. Speaking to TimeOut Hong Kong, the "Godfather of British Pop Art" said that he has been under-rewarded for his contribution to one of the greatest albums in rock history.

"I still feel that the whole thing was unfair," he said. "The cover is just as important as the music— it's an integral part, and should be rewarded [as such]. The Beatles have never really been aware of that, or they've consciously decided to not do it."
When asked if he ever gets sick of being asked about The Beatles, Blake replied bluntly, "I do, yeah."

Trivium Explain New Album
(Gibson) During an appearance on a recent edition of the Metal Injection Livecast, Trivium guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy stated about the band's forthcoming CD, "We've been writing this same record for a year and a half. We demoed it for eight months... [but] when we actually started the record, it took us about three months or so of tracking and it's gonna take maybe two months to mix, and Colin [Richardson, producer] and the team are working on that right now."

Even the artwork has been worked on for a year: "There's a bunch of different people involved with all the different stages of the art. But we're not releasing yet. We have everything, yes, but we can't give any of it out," Heafy said.

Above all, Heafy said everything will be new. "Nothing sounds like any of the other [records] at all, but with this record it sounds more like us than ever. 'Cause with the other records, you could go, 'OK, maybe this sounds like this kind of music' or 'This sounds like this kind of band,' or maybe 'It pulls from here or there,' whereas this is just definitive 'our' sound." more on this story

Anniversary of the US Festival
Back in 1983, The four-day US Festival '83 took place in San Bernardino, California, featuring The Clash, U2, David Bowie, The Pretenders, Van Halen, Stray Cats, Men at Work, Judas Priest, Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson, INXS, Joe Walsh, Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne. Over 750,000 fans attended the festival. Gibson takes a look back:

Giant music festivals have a way of being remembered for a lot of things besides music. Woodstock was about the hippies, Altamont was about the Hell's Angels and the US Festival became known for losing a ton of money for Apple Computer founder Steve Wozniak. In 1982, Wozniak had paid to bulldoze a site and then construct an open-air music venue near Devore in southern California. His idea was to hold a three-day festival that would feature top music acts on the big stage, but also the latest in computers and technology in an air-conditioned tent. The first US Festival took place on Labor Day weekend of 1982, but it wasn't a big success. Despite landing top acts like Fleetwood Mac, The Police and Tom Petty, 110-degree heat and other factors kept many people away and the enterprise lost Wozniak an estimated $12 million.

Undeterred, Wozniak planned to have a second US Festival the following Memorial Day, which began on this day in 1983. This time, it was a four-day fest (with the last day taking place the following Saturday) and each day revolved around a loose theme. So, Saturday was "New Wave Day" with The Clash, Men at Work and the Stray Cats; Sunday was "Heavy Metal Day" with Van Halen, Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne; Monday was "Rock Day" with David Bowie, The Pretenders and U2 and the following Saturday was "Country Day" with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr. But what about that David Lee Roth's clash with Joe Strummer... read on

Joe Elliott's Dream Band
(Gibson) As Joe Elliott and the rest of Def Leppard gear up for the release of their first career-spanning live album, Mirrorball, the headlining slot at Britain's Download festival on June 10, and a major summer tour with openers Heart, he shared with The Independent what his "dream band" would look like.

Drums - John Bonham: "He might have played in a rock band but he had a Motown background and you can hear this in his playing. His technique was stunning. He achieved this huge sound but it looked effortless."

Bass - Phil Lynott: "As frontman of Thin Lizzy he was really great, but imagine how good his bass playing would be if that was all he had to concentrate on? He should probably contribute to the songwriting, too. He was very poetic." Find out who else would be in the band

"You'd go mad if you had to explain yourself every time someone said, 'Are you from Oasis?' It's easier just to say, 'Yeah, that's me.' I like the same music now that I liked then. I've no reason to escape from it because I'm very proud of it." more on this story
