Barnes caught up with the guitar icon at Wednesday's 2010 Classic Rock "Roll Of Honour" Awards, where Page presented "The Innovator" Award to legendary U.K. band Killing Joke.

"I got a call whether I'd like to give an award to Killing Joke. The thing is, I go back a long way with Jaz Coleman and the band," said Page. "I used to go and see the band, and it was a band that really impressed me because Geordie's (Walker) guitar sound was just really, really strong. Slipknot May Never Record Again
(Rock AAA) Corey Taylor says Slipknot could tour again in the future but he's not convinced they'll make any new music after the tragic death of founder Paul Gray earlier this year.

The bassist, 38, was found in a Des Moines, Iowa, hotel room after suffering an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. Slipknot immediately put all projects on hold, and since then Taylor's been working with his side-project, Stone Sour.

And he says promotion and touring duties in support of new album Audio Secrecy has kept his mind off thinking about Gray. Taylor tells Clickmusic: "Stone Sour definitely helped me, let's put it that way. We were just finishing up the album when we got the news about Paul. I was actually in Des Moines, so it was pretty brutal." - more on this story

We didn't know he was ill. When we filmed the show at the Wacken festival in Germany Ronnie didn't know he was that ill. We said, 'Well, if he can still sing like that he must be okay.' We didn't know.

Neil Young Fire Caused By Hybrid Car
(Gibson) A one-of-a-kind hybrid vehicle is the cause of a recent fire at a San Francisco warehouse that stored Neil Young's musical equipment, memorabilia and more.

Belmont-San Carlos Fire Marshal Jim Palisi said that the three-alarm blaze began in Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental, called LincVolt because it runs on electric batteries and a biodiesel-powered generator, according to MercuryNews.com.

Young famously hired workers to turn the Continental into a hybrid vehicle and documented the process in a four-part film series in 2008. - more on this story

Family Tragedy Forces Suicidal Tendencies Off The Road
Suicidal Tendencies have been forced to pull out of their current North American tour. The band explains:

"Sunday Night ST played NYC to 2000 old and newschool Cycos! It's always great to hit the East Coast and catch up with a lot of our friends, bands and family. Unfortunately the NYC show will be the last show of this tour. Sadly, one of the band members had a parent pass away suddenly and needed to fly home to be with his family in this difficult time and handle all the funeral arrangements, etc.

"With heavy hearts, the band decided it would be best to postpone the remaining ST shows and make them up sometime next year. We appreciate your understanding, your thoughts and your prayers. Please give us a few days and we will try and let those who already have tickets how how to get refunds, etc. Again, we are so sorry to have to postpone these shows, but hope that everyone will be able to understand, and we'll do our best to make the dates up." - more on this story

The tour's set list combines the biggest hits of the band's career, as well as material from the new album, which has been described as a psychedelic journey that explores the conflict between technology and humanity. Lead vocalist Chester Bennington says, "The new songs work really well alongside the older stuff. Plus, there's a strong, powerful message to A Thousand Suns, and we've transferred that into the show. Steve Perry Retired, Not Looking for Journey Reunion
(Rock AAA) Rumors about singer Steve Perry rejoining Journey are untrue, RockAAA can confirm – and in fact, Perry has retired from performing.

The false story is believed to have surfaced after the Daily Star misused a quote from guitarist Neal Schon, who recently said: "He's no longer the lead singer – he walked out."

By adding speculation to the quote, the Star suggested Perry had asked to rejoin the band. But RockAAA has established that event did not take place. A spokesman for the singer says: "It's just not true. The story came from London, the home of tabloids – they make up stories every day. Steve is enjoying his retirement." - more on this story

Surprise Bruce Springsteen Bar Jam
(hennemusic) It's a Thursday night. You're enjoying a beverage in your local tavern, listening to a local band doin' their thing. Nothing special, right? Time and place. That's what it's all about, sometimes.

Ask the folks at Woody's Roadside Tavern in Farmingdale, New Jersey, and they'll tell ya how quickly things can change. Local band Timepiece are working through their set at Woody's last Thursday when the one, and only, Bruce Springsteen pops up on stage and joins them for the Wilson Pickett classic, "Mustang Sally."

Motorhead Idol: What if Lemmy Was An X-Factor Judge?
(Rock AAA) Motorhead legend Lemmy would love to become a judge on TV gameshow The X-Factor – and he knows exactly what he'd tell contestants.

Big names have disagreed over Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler taking a similar role on US show American Idol. Slash and Kid Rock have both stated they think it's a bad move, while Kiss motormouth Gene Simmons is all in favor.

But Lemmy is clear on how he'd approach the job. He tells the Sun: "I'd do that alright. I'd tell the contestants to sing what they want. Some of them sing songs that are way out of their depth. They haven't got the range for them." - more on this story

Radiohead's New Album Plan Is To Have No Plan
(Gibson) Disputing rumors and reports that their new album is completed, Radiohead released a statement on the band's official blog, Dead Air Space.

Guitarist Jonny Greenwood responded to an article in a recent issue of Italy's Rolling Stone magazine. That article quoted the guitarist as saying the album includes 10 songs and that Radiohead will be touring soon.

In his post, Greenwood wrote, "I think this Italian writer has, either through over-enthusiasm, or frustration at all my non-committal answers, mistranslated me a little. In fact we haven't quite finished the album – in the studio at the moment – nor have we yet considered any touring. The plan is to have no plan until the record is finished... hope that's a little clearer!" - -

Top Riffs of the 80s
Gibson has picked their top 10 riffs of the 80s. Here are the top three: 3. Ozzy Osbourne (featuring Randy Rhoads), "Crazy Train" In the 1980s, you couldn't throw a dead cat in a music store without hitting some kid playing this Randy Rhoads warhorse. The churning, sinister opening section hurls the song forward and creates a momentum that never lets up, even as Ozzy takes it off the rails.

2. The Rolling Stones, "Start Me Up" - Twelve years after "Honky Tonk Women," Keith Richards could still conjure an open-tuned gem like no one else. This 1981 classic is so stirring that nearly 30 years later you're still unlikely see a football stadium not use it to psych their fans up for a kickoff.

1. AC/DC, "Back in Black" - Perhaps the greatest riff-oriented album of all time is the band's 1980 farewell to dearly departed singer Bon Scott. Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young cooked up some of the greatest riffs of their career on this magnum opus (including "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells" and "Have a Drink on Me"), but none is more memorable than the hard and heavy title track.

"It seems that the time has come for us to put the touring wheels in motion for our next world tour in 2011!

It's funny but these days around - about this time - I can't help but reflect on the past when we had to load the touring van ourselves. Sometimes in the ice and snow, being afraid that we would get frostbites on our fingers and not be able to play the gig! - more on this story

David Bowie Retires
(Gibson) Waiting for David Bowie to make his triumphant return to the stage? Rolling Stone says you probably shouldn't hold your breath. It looks like the Thin White Duke has quietly retired. For real.

Rolling Stone's Andy Greene says it has been four years since Bowie last performed in public, with a three-song set at the BlackBall charity concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Green notes that Bowie's 2004 Reality tour was cut short when he suffered a heart attack, and that last year Bowie told the New York Times he had no plans to return to the stage.

Greene notes that many rock stars who have announced their retirements returned to the stage a few years later, including Bowie himself, who famously retired at the height of Ziggy Stardust mania in 1973. "The fact he's said virtually nothing this time around indicates he may well be done forever," Greene said, before cheekily adding, "…though in a few weeks the annual 'Bowie's headlining Coachella!!' rumors should once again surface." - more on this story
