Ozzy Up For Black Sabbath Reunion... On One Condition
(Rock Radio) Ozzy Osbourne says he might be up for a Black Sabbath reunion in 2012 – but only if bassist Geezer Butler agrees to stop moaning.

The Prince of Darkness has been linked with a return to his old band since the death of Ronnie James Dio in May, who was singing with the rebadged Heaven and Hell.

But an original lineup, also bringing in drummer Bill Ward, could be on the cards once Osbourne has finished his current world tour supporting his new album, Scream. Osbourne tells QMI: "I'm not saying I wouldn't do it – but I've got another year to finish my tour. And if I do a Black Sabbath tour, Geezer has got to promise to stop moaning." - More from Ozzy here

Slash Disappointed With Aerosmith's Steven Tyler
(hennemusic) First, Kid Rock. Now, Slash. Brand Tyler takes it on the chin…again. Both rockers have gone public with their thoughts on Aerosmith's Steven Tyler's decision to join American Idol as a judge.

In an interview with New York's Q104.3 FM, The Examiner reports Slash expressed sympathy for Tyler's fans and Aerosmith bandmates, and disappointment in the charismatic frontman's judgment.

"It's really sort of disappointing to me that he's gone and done that, for whatever reason," says Slash. "A lot of it having to do with (the fact that) I just know the guy, and the other guys in the band are bummed out, and they've had a really rocky road for a while. And then just because 'American Idol' is what it is, so it's hard for me to put the thing together." - more on this story

Red Hot Chili Gorillaz Supergroup
(Gibson) Damon Albarn is adding another group to his ever-growing list of projects. The Gorillaz and Blur frontman has told Spin.com that he's been at work on a new band with Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea and Nigerian drummer Tony Allen (who worked with Fela Kuti and was in The Good, the Bad and the Queen with Albarn).

"[It's] another band with Tony Allen; centered around what he does," Albarn said. "But this time it's him and me and Flea from the Chili Peppers and some of my favorite African musicians will be involved also. Flea of course is an anagram for Fela and Flea is so into this music – so that's been great."

It's not the first we're hearing of Flea's love of African music. As Gibson.com previously reported, Flea and the Chili Peppers are experimenting with Afro-pop sounds on their forthcoming album. - more on this story

Bruce Springsteen Releases New Video
(hennemusic) Calendar check: is it 1978…or 2010? You'd be allowed some temporary confusion on the time thing, this week, when considering the release of the first video from the upcoming Bruce Springsteen set, "The Promise".

The new release features two discs of 21 previously unreleased songs from the sessions for Springsteen's 1978 classic, "Darkness On The Edge Of Town,"; Bruce recorded almost 70 songs and pared things down to 10 for the original release.

"'Darkness' was my 'samurai' record," Springsteen writes in the liner notes, "stripped to the frame and ready to rumble...But the music that got left behind was substantial." - Read more and check out the video here

Evanescence Get Risky
(Gibson) It's been four years since Evanescence released their last album (2006's The Open Door) and fans can expect to hear some different sounds on the band's new release, set for later this fall. Drummer Will Hunt told Radio Metal that frontwoman Amy Lee is taking "real big risks …Honestly, I think it's amazing."

Lee and Co. are working with famed producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones) on the as-yet untitled album. Hunt said that Lee, Lillywhite and the band played around with electronic touches during the sessions. "There are new colors in the pattern," he said. "There's a lot of cool new things going on, both electronically and futuristically. I think she's doing something that's very special and hasn't been done before. I'm a supporter. I think it's killer."

But die-hard Evanescence fans shouldn't worry about the band sounding too different on this release. "It's always going to sound like Evanescence, 'cause it's Amy Lee singing, but the vehicle for that voice can be different and still be Evanescence," Hunt said. -

When Paul McCartney Reunited With John Lennon
(Gibson) "Valiant Paul McCartney, I presume?" said John Lennon. "Sir Jasper Lennon, I presume," responded Paul McCartney.

Such was the manner in which the two former Beatles greeted one another when McCartney showed up, unexpectedly, at a recording session Lennon was conducting on March 28, 1974. In the throes of his "Lost Weekend" period, Lennon was in a Los Angeles studio overseeing production of Harry Nilsson's Pussy Cats album. Present were a number of players – including Stevie Wonder, guitarist Jesse Ed Davis, saxophonist Bobby Keys and Nilsson himself. McCartney was accompanied by his wife, Linda. Lennon's then-girlfriend, May Pang, was there as well.

"We had no clue he was coming," said Pang, referring to McCartney's visit in Peter Ames Carlin's recent McCartney biography, McCartney: A Life. "All of a sudden we turned around, and Paul was there."

So began the only instance in which, post-Beatles, Lennon and McCartney ever joined forces in the studio. Remarkably, although Pang had made reference to the event previously, it wasn't until May 1992 that McCartney confirmed that the studio reunion had occurred. "It's very difficult to remember those days, because it was all a bit crazy and everyone was getting out of it," McCartney revealed. "But yes, John was doing some recordings in Los Angeles and I showed up." - more on this story

Singled Out: Forgotten Fable's Speechless
Today Forgotten Fable frontman Andrew Taylor tells us about the title track to their album "Speechless". Here is the story:

When I wrote Speechless I started as always, with the chorus - I feed off it - Everything should tie into the chorus. It's the most repeated thing in a song I am always pushing myself to be a better writer. I feel I have many years and even more songs before I am constantly evolving with the band. When I wrote the chorus I looked at it and thought.. Who would say this? What kind of individual would say this? It's not one it's two, the chorus is a two way conversation. After I figured that portion out I started writing about three different scenarios. Three different people and how they would feel if they could talk to God. What would they say angry confused spiteful or ashamed.

Everyone has that side to them that is shameful: the faggot, the whore, the drunk - we are all theses things. It's whether or not we give in to them. We are all capable of committing any and all these atrocities. It is our ignorance and pride that keep us from admitting to ourselves...

Speechless is that moment in life that we will all have. We have to face what or who we are the moment in which we not only have to admit to ourselves but one another that we are shameful, we are not pure, we are not full or life every second is a second closer to death no moment is given to us or promised. We never know when we will die or life just because we breathe now does not mean we have life it means one less breath what is life what is being human that's what Speechless is the day you find out what life is, what we are; it will leave us all Speechless. The undeniable truth of life is something we have a hard time believing. A hard time to accept the one thing the one person we hate and live our lives without is the thing or person that will answer every question so that when its all said and all done we will have nothing to say and live Speechless in peace.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Great Balls of Fire Unleashed
1957, Sun Records released "Great Balls of Fire," by Jerry Lee Lewis. The single went on to sell more than 5 million copies worldwide as a #1 hit in the U.K. and a #2 hit in the U.S.

Gibson takes a look back: Jerry Lee had moved to Memphis and was signed to burgeoning rock and roll record label Sun Records, both as a session pianist and solo performer. His first hit, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," was an R&B tune that Lewis had tailored to his own, propulsive style during his live shows. The lyrics contained their share of sexually suggestive content and Sun founder Sam Phillips thought the single might be pushing it too far. But, he was proven wrong when the song hit #3 on the pop charts, and #1 on both the country and R&B charts.

With "Shakin'" a proven blockbuster, Phillips encouraged Jerry Lee to repeat his success with another daring song – "Great Balls of Fire." The tune, co-written by Otis Blackwell (who had penned Elvis Presley's "Don't Be Cruel" and "All Shook Up") was based on a Southern expression, considered by some Christians as blasphemous. "Great Balls of Fire" refers to a point in the Bible when the Holy Spirit manifested as "cloven tongues as of fire." - more on this story

Guitarist Huzar comments, "Our new album is quite diverse. We tried to combine technically advanced parts with some kind of simplicity and directness to get better contrast and avoid being monotonous. There are also some solutions that put more space into music – just to step aside for a moment from death metal standards. There is also lots of melodies, but the album is still uncompromising.

Rod Stewart Getting Older
(Gibson) It's all about tea and soccer, says Rod Stewart the "healthy mod" in an interview with the U.K.'s Daily Mirror. Stewart explains: "Since I moved to Los Angeles in 1975, one of the biggest causes of me having a row is people not making tea properly. I love my tea. Having a little bit of what you fancy is definitely all good."

Stewart also admits to pampering himself with facials but it's health, not the fear of aging that inspires him. "I don't give a toss about getting older. I like it as long as I'm healthy," he said. "My skin is good because I've had a facial every week for 30 years. I started when I was with my first wife [Alana Hamilton]. Back then it was just me and a load of women at the beauticians. Now they're getting the men in too. I was the trailblazer for all that men's grooming stuff."

He also says that in his wilder days, his love of football (or as Americans call it, soccer) kept him on the right path. "Football always kept me straight," he said. "I'd never drink on a Saturday night because I'd be playing a match on the Sunday. I've been on a team all my life. I play now in an over-50s veterans' league. We have 30 players so you're on for one half and then off, but it's still 45 minutes of running around a pitch." - more on this story
