Hollywood Reporter has a tongue in cheek report about the $5 million dollar "lawsuit of the year" involving the management of veteran metal band Manowar, a photographer, alleged false imprisonment and attempted extortion. Read on!HR report: Yasha Young says she represents Annie Bertram, who was contracted by Magic Circle Films, a music management company that the complaint indicates is run by "Joey de Majo." (We think the plaintiff means metal band Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio but we're not 100% sure). Young says when she arrived in Germany, she was met by Joey's "bodyguard," who ushered her into a taxi that took her to a "seedy, out-of-the-way hotel." Another "bodyguard" brought her to a room and the original "bodyguard" was told to leave. There, she claims she was told she owed the company $25,000 and was instructed to write a check on the spot. [The lawsuit claims, "She was told that once she wrote the check she would be free to leave and that, if she left without making the demanded payment, things would get 'super bad' for Plaintiff."] Why did they demand the money?

Glenn Danzig is promoting his forthcoming new album and tour and sat down with Vice Magazine for an interview. Things were going along normally but then the conversation took a strange twist (a salad was involved). Rock Radio picked up on that part of the exchange and has this report: Glenn Danzig has branded cancer specialists "murdering quacks" and says modern Western doctors are "full of sh*t". He believes chemotherapy is no cure for cancer, and instead just kills patients. His statements come as Ronnie James Dio continues chemotherapy treatment for stomach cancer, which, although going well, has seen Heaven and Hell cancelling their planned European festival tour over the summer. "Diet is important. You want to go to a nutritionist to find out what your body is lacking not a f'kin quack, murdering doctor." Danzig tells Viceland "If you had cancer would you get chemo? You'd be dead in a week... Chemo radiation will kill you, and it's not the way to heal your body from cancer. You need to make your body stronger. Your body has natural things that fight off diseases." read more of Rock Radio's report here. You can read the full Vice interview here, it's a fun one!

We have a lot of friends and fans that have been waiting patiently for us to come back. Well that was until the new album came out. Then the e-mails and messages were more like 'you can't make an album like this and not come out here to play them live' and we totally agree. We can't wait to get out there and sweat it out with everyone. The new set we've put together has a great flow. Hits you hard and keeps going and will have you singing along from start to finish. It's a great mix of old and new songs so start brushing up on those lyrics. I don't think anyone will be disappointed. See you in the pit."

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today music vet Doug Keith tells us about "The Lucky Ones" the title track from his new album. We now turn it over to Doug for the story:The song, "The Lucky Ones," came together really fast to the point where I spent a lot of time working on more verses and created this whole key change ending, both of which were scrapped because I thought it had formed a little too quickly. My original intention was do this song with my old band, Up The Empire, and my approach to writing for that band was a bit more uptempo than things I had been writing for my solo stuff. When I played it for the guys in Up The Empire, they were into it, but it would have fit awkwardly in what we were doing at the time which was more of a melodic distorted sound with heavy pounding drums. After trying to get it together with them a few times, I realized that I had written something that was somewhere between what I was doing solo and what Up The Empire was doing and so I took it back and used that as the catalyst song to build up my second solo record around. That decision was really freeing for me because it opened the door to more driving songs like "Maria del Bosco" as well as mellower songs like "The Lowest Low." It helped to push things in a new direction. I had originally demoed this song as just two guitars, organ and vocals (I made a video using that demo actually) and then decided that I wanted to push this song with moving bass line and pounding drums. Ben Lord who plays the drums with me is a very driving drummer and I like the way the drum part in this song doesn't focus on the cymbals. They're in there occasionally to add some flavor, but for example in the chorus, it is just boom boom boom on the toms and kick drum until it switches back to the verses. I'm always hesitant to give the full background of what the lyrics to my songs are about because there is often a surface meaning to the lyrics, but that's propped up by what I'm actually writing about and that is very much the case when it comes to this song. On the surface, it's a song about a couple going out for the night, but I used that storyline as a way to explore some other things that were going on in my head at the time. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Until The Light Takes Us will be released on DVD September 28. The award winning film tells the story of black metal. Part music scene and part cultural uprising, black metal rose to worldwide notoriety in the mid-nineties when a rash of suicides, murders, and church burnings accompanied the explosive artistic growth and output of a music scene that would forever redefine what heavy metal is and what it stands for to other musicians, artists and music fans world-wide. Until The Light Takes Us goes behind the highly sensationalized media reports of "Satanists running amok in Europe" to examine the complex and largely misunderstood principles and beliefs that led to this rebellion against both Christianity and modern culture.
