Motley Crue Singer Arrested
Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Las Vegas Sunday night.

Jam! reports that Neil's car was pulled over late Sunday after police received a complaint from a woman who alleged Neil had smashed her camera earlier in the evening.

This isn't Neil's first drunk driving arrest; in the mid-80s he was charged with vehicular manslaughter after crashing his Pantera while under the influence. His passenger, Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley, was killed in the crash and the two occupants of the vehicle Neil struck in the accident were seriously injured. - He apparently was pulled over for a DUI more recently as well

Bret Michaels In Talks With American Idol To Replace Simon Cowell
It looks like Bret Michaels really is in the running to take over for Simon Cowell as a judge on American Idol. At least he really thinks he is.

Michaels reveals in an interview that he and the producers of the popular karaoke contest show plan to talk about him filling Cowell's shoes.

"I don't know (if I'm going to replace Cowell). We have a meeting in L.A. in a couple weeks and we're going to sit down and talk. They did a poll and I think it was Madonna, P. Diddy, Howard Stern and myself, and I took 50 per cent or 60 per cent of the vote and that's tremendous. I would love to be a judge on American Idol. I think I would bring a lot to the table," Michaels Parade Magazine.

That's Bret's take on things; the Todayshow.com says that their "well-placed" unnamed "insider" sources have a different take on his chances. Of course, you have to consider the reliability of the source. Read what they anonymous "insiders" had to say - here

Singled Out: Jackie Greene's Shaky Ground
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Jackie Greene tells us about "Shaky Ground" from his brand new album "Till the Light Comes". We now turn it over to Jackie for the story:

I started writing this tune in the Fall of 2008. I had pages and pages of verses, but I didn't have a chorus. Each verse is a different character, sometimes from a different time and place. Time is a funny thing in songs. I feel like it's okay to jump around at random. I like to play with words sometimes. Mostly it's nonsense..."piano rain" was something I had written down and never got to use it before.

"Charlie" is my dog. I just sort of imagined a work dog and a farmer for the last verse. For some reason, it made sense to me.

The chorus came a bit later and I started making demo's of the song. My friend Tim Bluhm changed some of the words in the chorus and it ended up tying it together very nicely. Soon after, we recorded the final version of it. It all came together perfectly.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Eatmewhileimhot! Limited Edition
Eatmewhileimhot have announced the release of their debut album, xALBUMx, in both a standard CD version and a special hand-numbered edition. Here is the announcement:

In classic EMWIH! style, we've created a fairly offensive and clumsy special edition version of the album. This is strictly limited to 300 hand-numbered copies. You'll get the cd version of the record housed in a 12 by 12 inch vinyl sleeve. The cd will magically float in the center cut hold of jacket and almost appear to be a legit vinyl version of the record. IT IS NOT! These are pretty insane looking and are a solid conversation starter. You'll also get the album before it hits stores and before it's available digitally.

The standard cd version of the album (jewel case with multi-paged solid black booklet) and digital version of xALBUMx will be released on July 27, 2010. - more on this story

Dead Confederate Take You Behind The Scenes Of Their New Album
Dead Confederate will release their sophomore album, Sugar, on August 24th via TAO Recordings/Old Flame.

Sugar was recorded by John Agnello (The Hold Steady, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and as Dead Confederate's Hardy Morris (guitar/lead vocals) explains, "We're a loud, big-sounding band, and wanted the album to be fun and creative - instead of just recording the songs. It's not like we decided we couldn't have anything grungy or heavy; that's just not all that we're interested in. You can listen to the record a bunch of different ways. What we were doing felt right." The band has posted some in-studio footage and brand new music in a new online video here.

In support of Sugar's release, Dead Confederate will be hitting the road, including dates with Deer Tick and a Bumbershoot after party with Surfer Blood.

My Morning Jacket's Carl Broemel Announces Solo Album
My Morning Jacket's Carl Broemel will release his new solo album, All Birds Say, August 31st on ATO Records. Here is the album pitch:

"It takes a lot of time to know your mind." Its a simple statement, yet earnest and profound in its offering. Sometimes it's the spaces in between, the subtleties and ambiguities that provide us with the most meaning.

All Birds Say (ATO Records) is an intimate collection of musings on life from My Morning Jacket guitarist, Carl Broemel.

Broemel reflects on things as they are with Zen-like contentment, making no judgment on how they should be...he gives pause for introspection but stops short of preaching. The songs are firmly planted between past and present. It's in these little fractured moments that the listener bears witness to thoughtful contemplation that give rise to epiphanies on larger themes. - more on this story

Grunge Pioneers Gruntruck Revisited
Seattle grunge pioneers Gruntruck's two albums are being reissued. Here is the announcement:

Gruntruck was one of the bands who defined the early Seattle grunge scene. The group recorded two spectacular albums – "Inside Yours" and "Push" - but afterwards faded into obscurity, overshadowed by the bigger and more successful grunge acts. This exclusive double reissue brings back both classic CDs in one package – an ultimate taste of the Sound of Seattle…

The band initially released their debut album "Inside Yours" through a local Seattle label eMpTy Records in 1990, and then returned a year later with a 2-track split album with Motorhoney, released through Musical Tragedies. This was enough to catch the attention of Roadrunner Records, who offered the group a multi-album contract. This way "Inside Yours" got re-released on January 14th, 1991, with two additional bonus tracks.
