Former Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach returns with The Empire Shall Fall, who released their debut album "Awaken," this week. To celebrate the album release, the band have released a free MP3 of their cover of 'Arcarsenal' by At The Drive-In as a treat for their fans both new and old. Bassist Nick Sollectio had the following to say regarding the track: "We had debated for months about a cover song that was appropriate for us on a whole. I suggested something by 'At The Drive-In' to which Jake suggested 'Arcarsenal' and we all agreed immediately. Taking on a song by a band as mighty as At The Drive-In is no small task, and we understand the dangers in doing so. But, I think we all love the band so much that it was hard to say no." Here is a little bit of news for fans of Twilight and Bauhaus. Not only does Peter Murphy make a cameo appearance in the film, but he's also announced a new tour and his "ninth" album. Original vampire enthusiast and iconic Bauhaus mainman Peter Murphy makes a central cameo appearance as 'The Cold One' in Eclipse, the most recent installment of the Twilight series. Eclipse debuts June 30 in the U.S. and July 1 in the UK, where Murphy will be walking the red carpet at the London premiere in Leicester Square at the Odeon Theatre, accompanied by his daughter, Hurihan. Murphy's last film appearance was in 1983 when Bauhaus performed "Bela Lugosi's Dead" in the opening credit sequence of Tony Scott's vampire thriller The Hunger starring David Bowie, Catherine De Neuve and Susan Sarandon. As a bookend to the now-infamous "Bela" performance, Peter felt that a cameo in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was too good to turn down. "Who else could have and should have done it?" he laughs. "It was really lovely and smart of David Slade to ask me
I was honored, actually."

Murderdolls are giving fans a free download of "My Dark Place Alone," the first single from their forthcoming album, "Women and Children Last," which is set for release August 31st through Roadrunner Records. Murderdolls are the Frankenstein brainchild of Joey Jordison and partner-in-grime, Wednesday 13. The band sees Joey step away from his day job and masked role behind the kit in Slipknot to playing a low-slung lead guitar, while Wednesday serves as the frontman in their macabre rock 'n' roll circus. The duo are ready to breathe new life into the project with a brand new line-up, while their 'f*** you' attitude, devilish glamour and trademark black sense of humor remain firmly in tact. Joey and Wednesday are excited to bring back their revamped musical monster, exclaiming, "We don't look at this as a return...this is REVENGE! The music scene today is as boring and stale as it was in 2002, when we first formed the band. This time around, everyone is the enemy!" Comments Joey, "We've waited eight years to make sure, but this is the perfect time to bring Murderdolls back to the world. We've got nothing to lose and nothing to prove. So raise your fist along with us motherf***ers and sorry if you get a bloody nose along the way. It's about to get ugly! Women and Children Last!!!"

Madball are currently at work on their new album, Empire, which is tentatively set for release in late September or early October of 2010. "Empire will play off of the name," points vocalist Freddy Cricien. "Madball has come a long way from being street kids to becoming very established in our genre, and even beyond the music. We're finally at a point in our life where we're taking control of our things, where as before we didn't have control of some things or didn't choose to have control. We have the feeling that we've built a little empire for ourselves with our band, brand, and different endeavors." We get this reference that we're kings of New York..." adds Cricien. "There are plenty of awesome bands that have come out of the city. Agnostic Front are the godfathers of New York hardcore, Sick Of it All are one of the undisputed champs of the scene... we were always known as more of the bad guys, but now people are calling us the kings. It's not a title we gave ourselves and it's not that we call ourselves that, but it's just a term of endearment and respect that people use and it plays into the name Empire.

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Kalle Wallner from RPWL tells us about "Cake" from their brand new album "The Gentle Art Of Music". We now turn it over to Kalle for the story:As we decided to release an anniversary album as a "compilation", we did not only want to have a typical "best of", because we liked the idea of doing something special on the second cd that we called "revisited". So we re-recorded and re-arranged some of our old songs in a new but more acoustic way with many different instruments. But we already had written some new songs we liked a lot. So we couldn't resist to do at least two of them for the "revisited" cd. One of those two is really special to me, its name is "Cake". But first of all - for understanding this story- you have to know that Yogi and me have a big old farmer's house which we rebuilt to RPWL's home: we have two studios, 2 recordings rooms, some offices, a rehearsal room, etc. So I remember I was sitting in my studio, jamming around with the acoustic guitar over this riff, when Yogi joined me for a coffee -as usual. He heard the riff and immediately had the idea about the lyrics: To say sorry with a cake. Maybe he was just longing for a piece of cake for the coffee or maybe he had some private trouble... anyway. Finally he told me about these lyrics and before we started to complete and arrange the song we already had the video in mind: Loads of people carrying the same cake and showing it into the camera. We liked all these ideas and finished the whole song within 2 hours. The song itself is not complicated, but has a very nice hook. As "Cake" was mainly based on the acoustic guitar we decided to put it on "revisited" because the sound fits perfect to the rest of the new-recorded songs. We decided to take the middle-part of Cake" for some new instrument experiments: The saxophone has the leading part which is quite unusual for us, and together with the female harmonies this reminds a lot of the 60ies. Furthermore, we realized this video we had in mind because finally this was the starting point of "Cake". We went with a gorgeous cake through the centre of our hometown and let the people present the cake to the camera. The rest of the artwork and the animation was made by Judith Reichhuber, an artist and friend of us. She already did the artwork in the booklet of THE RPWL EXPERIENCE. You can watch the video on our

Twisted Sister guitarist Eddie Ojeda is the latest rocker to lend a hand to "Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks." Eddie appears in conjunction with his solo project Eddie Ojeda's Band of Steel, featuring vocalist Andre Vanchot (X Factor X, Joe Stump), bassist Chris McCarvill (Dokken, House of Lords, Jeff Scott Soto) and drummer B.J. Zampa (Dokken, House of Lords, Yngwie Malmsteen). Eddie and company contribute a new incarnation of the Spinal Tap favorite "Big Bottom," a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the well-padded posterior. "Big Bottom" is infamous for featuring three separate bass parts (bass, lead bass, rhythm bass) with no guitars whatsoever. A bass-centric tune with a lot of low end, it's a bottom-heavy ode to the bottom-heavy girl. "When I was first asked if I wanted to cover 'Big Bottom,' I thought it was a joke! I mean, why would you ask a guitarist to play on a song with no guitars?" commented a bewildered Eddie Ojeda. "That's like hiring Dee Snider to record a song and then telling him not to sing on it! I just figured I'd stumbled into an easy gig, since my band would end up doing all the work. In the end, I did find a way of adding my own personal touch to the song, while also being respectful to the bass-heavy sound of the original."

Glenn Danzig's new studio album, Deth Red Sabaoth, is currently streaming on CBS Radio's "The Street Date", which also features an in-depth video interview with Glenn. The 11-track collection, produced, recorded and penned by Danzig, is laced with Glenn's lycanthropic growls and blues-infected wailing. Tracks including "Black Candy," "The Revengeful," and the first single, "On A Wicked Night," emit a spectral glow to rival the highest points in Danzig's colossal discography. Part 1 of the exquisite two-part "Pyre of Souls" opens with acoustic guitar, haunting piano, Glenn's plainsong vocal, and an almost dirge-like feel; Part II explodes with electric guitars and a driving, mesmerizing cadence. Joining Glenn in the studio for the recording of Deth Red Sabaoth were guitarist Tommy Victor (Prong, Ministry), a Danzig cohort on and off since 1997, and drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Seventh Void). While Kelly has toured with Glenn intermittently since 2002, this is the first time he has recorded with the band. Glenn handled the bass chores for most of the album, and played drums on "Black Candy."

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Paul O'Keeffe from Intervurt tells us about two more songs from their new album, "Union." Today Paul checks in with the story behind "Translucent," and "Meria":Translucent: The he first song that we got to do with Mark Plati & Tom McKay. The idea for the lyric had been around for a while and it's just a pure break up song with an ugly twist. It's about how being intoxicated by someone, even without the presence of Love can be completely maddening. But then it kinda all boils down to being a great driving song. It was a strong contender for the first single, but at the last second it was decided that we'd lead with Union Square with Translucent as the follow up. Merla: Probably the first song written for the Album, and a crowd favourite that always closes an Intervurt live set. The Album recording is pretty true to the live version and is all about that bass line. The title came from a story of a girl called Merla from Estonia that Oliver went to School with. But generally the song is about madness and every musical part reflects that really well. We actually broke into a derelict mental hospital to film the video and some of the footage was taken off us when we were caught by security, but we managed to hide most of the good stuff in our pants and got away. Visually it fits the mood of the song perfectly. The quote that we sound like "U2 being ravaged by a rabid dog" is probably alluding to this track, and sometimes performing it live can get a bit crazy as well. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the songs, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Steve Vai released his Western Vacation on iTunes this week. Read on to discover what it's all about: In the early 1980s, Steve Vai had just moved to California and bought a house in rural Sylmar California. At the time, it was a place with more animals than people. Steve's little house out in the wilderness, was a place where wayward musicians can come and call home. One of those musicians living at the house, was Marty Schwartz, Steve's friend from his Berklee School Of Music Days. When Steve broke his whammy bar during a gig in the Berklee recital hall, he asked if anyone had a spare rubber band, thats when a faint voice came from audience "I've got one for you Steve!", that was the first time Steve met Marty. In Steve's backyard, filled with chickens, ducks, and other various farm animals, Steve's first hand built studio, called Stucco Blue, was the birth place of, ''Western Vacation''. This album was created by Marty, and features a handful of Frank Zappa alumni, including keyboardist Tommy Mars, Vocalist Bob Harris, and Steve Vai, who was listed as the ''Reckless Fable'' on the ''Western Vacation'' track. Other musicians that played on this album were, Chris Frazier on drums, and Jac Mihanovic on bass.
