The latest mystery surrounding Aerosmith is whether the band will or will not record a new studio album. Lead guitarist Joe Perry isn't helping solve the mystery by giving conflicting answers in different interviews. As we told you last week, Perry told the Guardian, "Until a couple of years ago, fans would ask for more records like the old records, but that's all fallen off. New material is not that important any more. We've been at this for a long time. I think of some of the songs I've written or co-written and I think, why should I bother trying to top that? It's like Leonardo Da Vinci painting the Madonna again. Why should I paint the Madonna again?" But Perry tells RollingStone.com, "Looking at the calendar we'll probably be going into the studio sometime around the holidays or maybe in the beginning of next year," he says. "We'll have to take time off from touring to make the best record we can make. We owe it to ourselves to make the best record we can make."

Ozzy Osbourne says that he has settled his lawsuit against Tony Iommi over the use of the Black Sabbath brand and that everything is now okay between the former bandmates according to Blabbermouth. When asked if there was once again a chance for the original Black Sabbath lineup to get together again Ozzy responded, "Well, I never say never," he said. "I mean, I've got a few ideas, but we'll see what happens, you know. We did try and do another album, but we've all changed so much and it's — if you don't do an album that blows the doors off the last one that we did together, then it's gonna be looked upon as a joke, you know." Blabbermouth reports that Ozzy filed a lawsuit against Iommi in May 2009, claiming that Iommi illegally took sole ownership of the band's name in a filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Osbourne sued Iommi for a 50 percent interest in the "Black Sabbath" trademark, along with a portion of Iommi's profits from use of the name.

Bret Michaels Lazarus like recovery from a string of medical emergency appears to be holding strong with the singer planning more concerts. AP spoke with last week about his immediate plans and the impact of his health problems on his legacy. Here is part of that report:"I think this is good for my soul," Michaels told AP on Thursday. "Honestly, I'm taking every precaution. I'm not doing anything stupid. I'm going on stage and telling the fans that I'm going to give 100 percent of everything I've got, but if it's only 75 or 80 percent, I think they will understand." "I don't want my legacy to be that I had a brain hemorrhage," said Michaels. "I want it to be that I rocked, I treated people with respect and I made a lot of good friends along the way. I think that came back to me when I got sick. I truly believe if you're a good person, and you spread love, then that love will come back to you."

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Lo-Pro frontman Pete Murray tells us about "Alive" from their brand new album "The Beautiful Sounds of Revenge". We now turn it over to Pete for the story:'The Beautiful Sounds of Revenge' is truly a diary of our journey over the last several years. Following the demise of our last record deal, we went through a "12 step program" of sorts emotionally. The first step was naturally anger, followed by despair and depression. These emotions are tiring though and not all that healthy over time and we eventually returned to this magical place of making music for the sake of making music. At the end of the day, we'll always have our music, despite where we may be on a business level at the time. I think "Alive" marked the beginning of that transition. The lyrics are upbeat and hopeful. "Let them know you're alive" is a call to action. Life is too short for bitterness. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Evile's 'Bathe In Blood', from their 2007 debut album Enter The Grave, is featured in a new movie starring Colin Farrell. The new movie, 'Ondine', which was written and directed by Oscar winner Neil Jordan, tells the tale of an Irish fisherman who discovers a woman caught in his fishing net who he believes to be a mermaid. Evile's track 'Bathe In Blood', from their 2007 debut album Enter The Grave, is played during the movie. Evile lead guitarist OL DRAKE comments: "I just sat down to watch Neil Jordan's new film 'Ondine' starring Colin Farrell. A while ago we allowed the film makers to use our track 'Bathe in Blood' in the film. About 30 minutes in, the character Alex (Tony Curran) can be seen headbanging in another room whilst his daughter is reading a book, and the tones of 'Bathe in Blood' can be heard. It's so bizarre yet awesome to hear one of our tracks in a film, and to my surprise a great film. It isn't usually my cup of tea but it has a great story. Bravo, Mr Jordan and thank you!" 'Ondine' is due to be released on DVD in the UK on August 16th. View the trailer for the movie

Pyrrhon have inked a deal in with The Path Less Traveled Records to release their debut EP, Fever Kingdoms. The label also plan to release this facemelting quartet's debut LP in 2011. Pyrrhon formed in 2008, and have been laying waste to the New York area with their brutally unique, masterfully executed take on death metal, sharing stages with the likes of Misery Index, Evoken, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, The Communion, Liturgy, and dozens more. To call them "technical death metal" is a bit of a misnomer; sure, their songwriting chops are unf***withable and their riffs will make your head spin, but unlike so many other widdly-widdly bands out there, PYRRHON are more interested in writing memorable, wickedly heavy songs than in guitar wankery. Think Immolation, Origin, and Death, and you're halfway there!
