The Postelles Discuss Kings of Leon Pigeon Poop Gig
We received word from The Postelles about last week's now infamous Kings of Leon pigeon poop gig. The Postelles were one of the openers who braved through their entire set while being dive bombed with bird droppings.

Here is what we received: his past Friday evening in St. Louis, The Postelles played a now legendary show with Kings of Leon, which was cut short following an astonishing, and highly reported upon, series of events.

The Postelles would like to release the following statement regarding this show: "It was truly an honor to open up for the Kings of Leon on Friday night in St. Louis. Unfortunately, it was a s***-storm for everyone involved. Amongst other things, a bird fell from the rafters and died while our drummer was setting up (services to be held next week), very fine clothing was ruined throughout the entire night (the laundry bill was rough!), and our equipment was completely covered with...well, you get the point. On a positive note, our bassist John developed some really excellent/awkward dance moves while trying to avoid the falling onslaught from the flock in the sky. We look forward to coming back to St. Louis - hopefully indoors this time."

Singled Out: Evans Blue's Erase My Scars and Sick Of It
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Evans Blue tell us about "Erase My Scars" and "Sick Of It " from their brand new self-titled album, which hit stores this week. Here are the stories:

Erase My Scars: It seems we all have this idea that no matter what happens in life, happens for a reason. This song is not about looking for answers, but more or less calling out this "higher being" for people to understand that what happens to us in life, is just that... life. There never has to be an explanation as to why something is unfair for some people or how some people are more fortunate. These questions will only be answered by you. It seems like we can only feel comfort by placing the responsibility on what's truly unimaginable. I find it far easier to believe that WE have the strength to get through life by having no choice but to hold life responsible. There may be no answers, and we may feel we need to be angry or hold someone or something accountable for what has happened... but in reality, the only way we truly get through this pain is to accept the fact that these scars will never completely fade away.

When Parker came to me with the guitar riff, I really felt the mood of this song was exactly where I was at the time. The song came together fast and felt "right". We recorded the song shortly after with our producer Trevor Kustiak. This song took shape just as easily as we could hear it in our heads.

Sick Of It This was one of the first songs we recorded for the album. I felt like it could easily be identified by anyone. It's about having someone in your life that you are simply better off without. We've all gone through the same story of some miserable person trying to hold us down... until you finally open your eyes and realize that not only are you better off without them, but you can clearly see right through them. You stand up and say "I'm done with this s***"... You finally realize that there is no such thing as changing someone.. they are who they are. Keep moving forward.. no more walking on egg shells.. no more trying to please someone who will never be pleased... and at the end of the day, this song is all about removing the weight from your shoulders, opening your eyes, throwing up a middle finger, and taking control of your own life.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the songs, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Singled Out: A Clever Con
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today A Clever Con tells us about "Heroin(e)" from their debut release, "The Robot EP". Here is the story:

It's not every day that you hear that a drug addiction saved the future of a rock band…. Usually it's the other way around, but for the boys in A Clever Con, it's a story that they tell in their music, shows and their history as a band. Their song, "Heroin(e)" retells the events and emotions that occurred when singer Mike Dietz was in a serious relationship with a struggling heroin addict, one who also suffered from bipolar disorder.

It started off as your typical "boy-meets-girl" love story, but shortly into the relationship Mike learned of her addiction. He was faced with an internal decision – leave her or try and save her. He made the choice to stay with her as she swore that she would kick her addiction and give up the drugs for him and their relationship. Meanwhile, A Clever Con was at a crossroads. After their debut performance, their bass player and drummer left the band without warning or provocation. Mike and guitarist Ryan Marsa were without a rhythm section after a year of hard work and writing. They were back at the drawing board staring a bleak and uncertain musical future.

Things seem to be going on track for Mike and his girlfriend. That is, until she attended a funeral for Mike's family member high. It caused extreme outrage in his family leading them to give him an ultimatum - ditch her or leave home. He held onto the hope that he could save her and decided to move in with her where he could monitor her actions more closely. This proved not to be an easy task. He attended rehab meetings with her (and fellow drug addicts) and helped her along through seemingly endless nights of withdrawal symptoms. Her psychological disorder took effect too, causing violent outbursts and personality shifts. Mike tried only in vain to rid her of her addiction and sickness. He'd catch her in public high or sneaking out of their apartment in the middle of the night to shoot up. - Read the rest of the story here

D.O.A. In Canada
D.O.A. have announced a tour of Canada in support of their 13th studio album "Talk - Action = 0".

On this album, the band goes back to its early roots and takes a few notes from their first two classic albums: "Something Better Change" and "Hardcore 81". "Talk - Action = 0" was produced by chief punk Joe Shithead Keithley and Chon (Live Free or Die).

Keithley, Canada's godfather of punk, has teamed with his cronies Floor Tom Jones (drums) and Dirty Dan Sedan (bass) to come up with one of D.O.A.'s hardest hitting albums to date. On this lucky 13th full length, there's plenty of what one might expect from the boys: power, politics and humor.

Taking Dawn With Slash
Roadrunner sent over word on Tuesday that Taking Dawn have announced a string of tour dates with legendary rock icon Slash.

With a sound that is both fast and fresh, Taking Dawn successfully uses the 80's sound to create a foundation for their thoroughly modern take on the genre: shredding, soloing and incorporating sophisticated melody into their metal. Time to Burn is an artful fusion of their bygone influences with contemporary skill and playful "screw you" attitude.

Having long been inspired by artists like Bon Jovi, Skid Row and of course, Guns N' Roses, it makes sense that the band is more than just a little excited to be going on the road with the godfather of guitar, Slash.

Ingram Hill Set New Album Release
Rock Ridge Music will be releasing Ingram Hill's new album, "Look Your Best," on September 28, 2010.

"Look Your Best" features 10 brand new tracks (12 tracks on iTunes) and was produced by Rick Beato (Billionaire, Michelle Malone, Flickerstick, Shinedown) at his Stone Mountain, Georgia, studio. The band had worked with Beato on their first full-length, 2004's "June's Picture Show." Prior to entering the studio, lead vocalist/guitarist Justin Moore and guitarist Phil Bogard, gave themselves a month to write at least 20 new songs to go along with material they already been performing live. The result is an album that includes both new winners and some existing fan favorites.

The album's first single, "As Long As I'm With You," "is for that person or the people who really kind of holds it together for you," says Moore, who penned the tune. "When seemingly everything around you is falling apart, it's nice to know that it's going to be okay because someone's got your back. It doesn't always have to be the same person, either. Sometimes it can be your best friend or significant other, and sometimes it can be a group of fans in the front row, smiling, dancing, and singing the words to your songs."

The Upsidedown Giving Fans The Town With Bad Wiring This Fall
Reverb Records has announced a September 28th release date for The Upsidedown's third album, The Town With Bad Wiring.

Here is the announcement: The Upsidedown stir up propulsive psychedelic pop over the course of the record's twelve tracks. First single "Something Good" will hit radio in early September, and it paves the path to Town. Blending a danceable groove with seductively hypnotic crooning, "Something Good" is a trippy little ditty that's instantly infectious. Right now, the band is in the midst of making the video for "Something Good." It promises to give a unique look at their native Portland through the lens of video directors Cairey Haider and Justin Adams.

The Upsidedown didn't build this sonic city alone, they attracted the help of numerous high-profile tastemakers. REM's Peter Buck drops by for a guest spot, and Brian Jonestown Massacre's Collin Hegna and the Dandy Warhol's Pete Holmstrom also make appearances. However, the band hasn't just been resonating with the indie elite; they've effectively seeped deep into the collective zeitgeist through high-profile song placements on both HBO's True Blood and FX's Sons of Anarchy. "Wolf Blood Honey," a wolfed-up version of Town's "La Paloma," was featured on True Blood's July 11th episode, while "If You Are Hell Girl" fueled an episode of Sons of Anarchy. You've also heard them on Vampire Diaries and Damages.

Danger Danger frontman To Tribute Fat Chicks
Danger Danger frontman Ted Poley has joined the roster of the upcoming tribute album "Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks."

Ted appears alongside his Poley/Rivera collaborator Vic Rivera, who also produced and arranged the music for their track. The duo breathes new life into the song "All Lips N' Hips" by the Electric Boys, who themselves recently reunited after a 15-year hiatus. A surprise MTV hit in 1990, "All Lips N' Hips" paints the sonic picture of an exotic dancer endowed with generous feminine curvature

A returning veteran of SplitScreen Entertainment tribute albums, Rivera was also featured on the 2008 release "Kiss My Ankh: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent," teaming up with vocalist Kelli McCloud on a haunting recreation of "Love Kills" by the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. "I was very happy when they approached me to be a part of this next project," offers Vic Rivera, "especially since I have a great appreciation for full-figured women! Even before they told me which songs were up for consideration, I knew I wanted to do 'All Lips N' Hips.' I've always interpreted this song to be about an especially curvy and voluptuous girl, so we adjusted a few lines to drive that point home. Naturally, I had to involve my partner-in-crime Ted Poley to sing. All in all, it's the perfect addition to this long overdue tribute to the zaftig woman!" - more on this story
