Most tickets to concerts in outdoor venues usually carry the warning that the show will go on "rain or shine." We learned this weekend that the warning does not extending pigeon droppings. Just ask Kings of Leon, who were forced off the stage Friday night three songs into their set at St. Louis' Verizon Amphitheater after being inundated by poop from pigeons living in the venue's rafters. The show's openers The Postelles and the Stills braved through their entire sets only to emerge from the stage covered in pigeon droppings. The Kings of Leon decided to try their luck and play their set but were forced to leave after an unhealthy encounter. Drummer Nathan Followill told fans via Twitter "We had to bail, pigeons s***ting in Jared's mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue. Don't take it out on Jared, it's the f**king venue's fault. You may enjoy being sh*t on but we don't. Sorry for all who traveled many miles."

Adam Zadel and Tim King of Soil have proclaimed that "the show must go on" following the "hiatus" of frontman A.J. Cavalier and drummer Tom Schofield. The remaining members of the band are picking up the pieces and carrying on. Here is what they told fans via their Myspace blog on Friday: I'm sure you are all wondering what is happening in the world of SOiL after all the rumors and statements that have been going around. Late last week we learned of AJ's intentions as he notified us of his "indefinite hiatus". Then we learned of Tom's intentions, As did all of you, via the Blabbermouth statement he issued a few days ago. We have decided that the show must and will go on. We refuse to let the fans, promoters, and radio stations down on such short notice. We decided to ask our friend's Jordan Lee (vox) and Mike Tignino (drums) to fill in. Both Jordan and Mike are awesome musicians and have been long time SOiL followers and to us it is an honor to have them join us for the already confirmed shows. We will take full advantage of this opportunity to perform some classic songs we haven't played in years and can promise you we will deliver a powerful and energetic show that will meet and surpass the standards we have always set for our live shows.

Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS have made no secret of their love for The Beatles, so this report from the Metal Den (and songs) should come as no surprise. In fact, the biggest surprise is that recordings like these have not surfaced earlier! TMD unearths a rare audio clip from 1990 of legendary rock act KISS doing an interview in a New York City rehearsal studio right before the start of the band's infamous "Hot In The Shade" tour. At the start of the clip is Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons trying their hand at some classic songs by The Beatles. The first one is "Help!" and the second is "Please Please Me". Madball have issued an update from the studio where they are at work on their forthcoming album, Empire, which they plan to release on October 12th, 2010. They have also announced some fall tour dates across Canada with Comeback Kid."The recording process has gone smoothly. Hopefully I won't screw it up," jokes Madball vocalist Freddy Cricien. "I'm actually going in to track vocals today and I'm looking forward to it. And besides the interesting story of a manatee sitting by the place we stayed in, we've been dealing with the usual goofiness that comes with recording a record." Madball are currently recording at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. Behind the boards on Empire is producer Erik Rutan (Misery Index, Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore). "Erik has been great to work with," states Cricien. "He's definitely a perfectionist, which I have no problem with. It's going to benefit us in the end! He's got his own techniques like everyone does, so he's going to bring a different dynamic into the sound/mix. I'm excited for people to hear the finish product. I predict it will be very HARD!"

Jani Lane responded to a statement that his former Warrant bandmates issued last week following his sentenced to 120 days in prison after pleading no contest to driving under the influence (DUI). He also took the time to address fans and address his fans. SleazeRoxx carried the following statement from Lane:"I'm not founded on the notion that any press is good press. I'm more than willing to face the consequences for my bad decisions. I'm extremely remorseful about how this has affected my family, friends and fans. I have done a ton of soul searching. This is not a situation I ever dreamed of finding myself in but here I am. I will walk through this and take it as a wake up call. I believe everything happens for a reason. "This comes at a time when I am writing some of the best music of my life. I intend to man-up, get through this and release something new in the fall-winter of this year. I will do several shows this holiday season simply because I love to perform and the fans deserve to see me at my best. I want to thank all my friends and fans who have expressed their amazing support and especially my wife and children who continue to surround me with love. This is one of the most trying times and yet enlightening that I've ever faced. I'll be back...and more determined than ever. I love the Warrant songs. Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Iron Thrones tells us about "Like A Moth To Flame" from their brand new "The Wretched Sun" EP, which hits stores tomorrow. We now turn it over to the band for the story:Adam Clemans (vocals): Lyrically, this song is loosely based on the legend of Icarus, and his flight towards the sun that resulted in the burning of his wings and his descent back to the earth below. It's the first track on the record and introduces the listener to the main character as well as the secondary female character. It tells about his instant attraction to the female, kind of like a love at first sight type thing. It also talks about how jumping into something so quickly could result in a negative outcome, but the two central characters disregard this thought all together because of the desire for one another in their lives. I was the least prepared for this song when going into the studio because the overall the pacing of this song is a bit different for us, so I had to take a different approach all together. Curt and myself, during the pre-production phase, sat down together and hammered out the vocal patterns and then I went to work with the lyrics. Pete helped contribute to the lyrics of this song as well. Curtis Parker (bass): When I started writing this track I really wanted to try a different sound for an Iron Thrones song. I wanted to write something more rhythmic and include influences from some of my favorite bands like Muse and Mastodon. I feel like it still has the "Iron Thrones" sound while it also branching out into styles we hadn't explored in the first album. Steve Henningsgard (guitar): I think this song really shows Curt's strength as a writer, and was quite a challenge for me to grow into and to do it justice. Being the only guitar player, it was really important for me to understand every aspect of what Curt was going for, so that I could perform it as though I wrote it, as I feel a lot of Iron Thrones' sound has to do with the little intricacies and personal style of how we play our parts. Now that we've recorded it and played it a few dozen times, I really dig this song! I'm glad we have something so high-energy to promote as the first full song people have heard from us in a year and a half. Pete Clark (drums): I specifically remember tracking the over-dubs on this song, because they sounded so huge. We used a 26" kick drum to accent the heavy hits, and you can hear it thickening up the low end of the song, especially towards the end. I think this song is a perfect track to start off the E.P. It's fast, heavy, and never lets up. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Since last month's confirmation of the September 19th date for Baltimore City's dedication of a bust of Frank Zappa, community support has been growing for a concert and festival in tribute to the legendary musician, composer and social icon, whose birthplace is Baltimore. The bust, donated by a Lithuanian fan club, will be placed at the Enoch Pratt Free Library's Southeast Anchor in Highlandtown, and plans now include an outdoor concert featuring Zappa Plays Zappa (fronted by Frank's son Dweezil), and various events at the library and nearby Patterson Theatre in support of the dedication ceremony. The date itself is especially significant as September 19th is the anniversary of Zappa's 1985 testimony on Capitol Hill in favor of free expression by Recording Artists at the Senate hearing instigated by certain congressional wives (members of the PMRC) concerning record labeling. Frank Zappa's widow Gail commented on the remarkable coincidence, stating, "Frank's legacy rests in his uncompromising defense of the First Amendment and his uncompromising pursuit of excellence clearly demonstrated in the standards he set in all areas of Music and the arts and sciences associated with it. He was self-taught and self-realized. It is hard to imagine how that is possible except for the 4 cornerstones he had going for him: a talent for music, a hard-core curiosity, a keen sense of humor and access to a library. He was a cheap date for History."

Early Punk goes Cowboy! Almost 25 years after it was filmed, the Queen of L.A. Punk, X singer Exene Cervenka, and music video director Modi Frank, known for her groundbreaking music videos such as "Mountain Song" by Jane's Addiction, present their previously unreleased cowboy satire "Bad Day" featuring legendary X front man John Doe, Grammy Award winner Dave Alvin, Oscar-winning writer Michael Blake, and with a comedic performance by Academy Award winner, Kevin Costner. "Bad Day" boasts an inspired cast of legendary Los Angeles musicians, writers and actors at a "secret" shooting location in Chatsworth, California. This short silent film, photographed and co-written by X's Exene and directed by award-winning filmmakerModi Frank, is a 20-minute tribute to the early days of the one-reel Westerns. The film blends Exene's love for black & white films, with old fashioned title cards, western sets, and Modi's vision of capturing local talent having a very unusal day in a small pioneer town, with an elegant, poignant soundtrack by Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Dave Alvin along with X and Knitters drummer D. J. Bonebrake. Some might ask, why film a black & white, silent western? "For fun," exclaims the punk queen, "It was a blast to write, envision and then film. We have talented friends, all up for a project, and we froze a moment in history. It was one of the best times Modi and I have ever had." Now available for the first time as a digital download, at www.baddaymovie.com, viewers will be able to "pay" whatever they choose for the download in order to view "Bad Day".

It seemed like this moment might never come, but on Friday night Aerosmith — all of Aerosmith — kicked off an American tour in Oakland, California. After a year which saw Stephen Tyler nearly replaced and Joe Perry nearly run over, the Boston bad boys are up and rocking again."I think (the setlist) is going to be the biggest issue of contention at this point," Perry told Rolling Stone. "We have toured a lot in the States and we're going to be putting down the setlist side by side for each city for the last two or three years and try to come up with something different — which is what I think the fans want to hear. I do think people want to hear stuff from the first five records." "When you got 'Dream On' and 'Sweet Emotion' and 'Walk This Way' and 'Love in an Elevator,' you can't leave them out of the set," added Tyler. "And there's a lot of esoteric stuff we can add. We may do 'Kings and Queens' or we might do 'No Surprize.'"

Acetate Records announces a September 7th street date for the previously un-released album by The Factory. Much like predecessors New York Dolls, Stooges and Dead Boys, The Factory burned like a roman candle, then disappeared into the night. The Washington D.C. band ruled the roost in the late 1980's, opening for Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Public Image, Ltd. and Johnny Thunders, turning the heads of both fans and music industry reps along the East Coast. Led by Vance Bockis (formerly of The Obsessed, 9353 and doom metal gods Pentagram), The Factory were a brash extension of late 1970's Rolling Stones, picking up where the strut and sneer of Some Girls and Tattoo You left off, creating an explosive concoction of straight ahead Rock n' Roll, Punk and R&B. Unfortunately outside influences got the best of them and The Factory broke up in 1992 without formally releasing anything more than a track on a compilation LP.

It is also huge for us to share the stage with such influential bands for us such as Iron Maiden and Motley Crue. See you all in the front row at 11:30 on Saturday!"
