Slash, Linkin Park And Others Ask Fans To Download To Donate For Haiti
Some of the biggest names in music have joined forces for Download To Donate For Haiti, a star-studded recovery effort to aid the devastated nation of Haiti following the magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince on January 12.

Working with Music For Relief, a non-profit founded by Linkin Park following the 2004 Asian tsunamis, Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, Dave Matthews Band, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Kenna (track co-produced by Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and The Neptunes' Chad Hugo), Linkin Park, Lupe Fiasco/Kenna (collaboration produced by Mike Shinoda), Peter Gabriel and Slash have all graciously donated never-before-released music to help raise funds and promote awareness of the recovery efforts. Shepard Fairey's Studio Number One created the project's artwork.
"Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti," said Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. "We pray that this initiative provides some relief and support to the survivors and hope we inspire our fans, friends and families to make donations as well."

DOWNLOAD TO DONATE FOR HAITI provides fans with the opportunity to download a collection of exclusive songs by their favorite artists and then donate funds on a purely voluntary basis. Each download is a donation. Fans can download the unreleased songs at www.Musicforrelief.org and via the websites of each participating artist.

"We're encouraging people to give what they can," says guitar legend Slash. "There's no right or wrong amount. The people of Haiti are in desperate need of food, fresh water, shelter and medical supplies and every little bit helps."

James Taylor To Perform Two Haiti Benefit Concerts
James Taylor organized a benefit concert for Haiti which quickly sold out, and now the big hearted music icon has added a second show. Here is the announcement: Tickets to James Taylor's just-announced benefit concert for Haiti sold out in 90 minutes this morning, raising $150,000 for Partners in Health, which Taylor and his wife, Kim, then matched, making the total amount raised so far to benefit the people of Haiti: $300,000.

Upon hearing news of the sold out concert, Mr. Taylor volunteered to donate his services for a second show on Saturday, January 23 at 8 pm. "The need in Haiti is so great and our community in the Berkshires is so generous. Performing another concert is the least I can do and, fortunately, the Mahaiwe is free the next night," he said.

Tickets to "Help for Haiti: An Intimate Evening with James Taylor" are $100 (balcony), $200 (orchestra and mezzanine), and $1,000 (golden circle including private post-show reception with the artists) and will go on sale on Wednesday, January 20 at 9 am at Mahaiwe.org and in person at the Mahaiwe Box Office (14 Castle Street in Great Barrington, MA). No phone sales are available for this concert and there is a limit of four tickets per person. - more on this story

The Who's Greatest Hits Live
The debate over which of the three greatest rock bands--Beatles, Stones and Who--is the greatest has raged for decades. But there has never been any argument over which of the three has been the greatest band in concert. The Who has reigned o'er them all.

Now, 22 recordings of the band's biggest and best-known hits--most of them never widely available or unreleased and 20 of them newly mixed by the band and its production team--have been collected on Greatest Hits Live (Geffen/UMe), released exclusively on the iTunes Store on January 19, 2010. Just a few weeks later, on February 7, The Who will take the stage once again when the group headlines the Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida.

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder has said that "The Who quite possibly remain the greatest live band ever" (Rolling Stone, 2004) and Greatest Hits Live justifies that statement with scintillating tracks ranging from 1965 to 2009, from London's Royal Albert Hall to the San Francisco Civic Auditorium. - more on this story

Your Demise Invade North America
Your Demise is a hardcore act from St. Albans, UK who have taken the UK/Europe by storm and look to duplicate their live successes here in North America during their first tour on this side of the world.

Your Demise plays a style of metallic hardcore popularized by bands such as Hatebreed and Earth Crisis and combines it with elements from all over the musical landscape, including elements of drum/bass. This eclectic combination creates a sound that is more modern, more rule-breaking and more refreshing than that of the typical hardcore band.

Supporting their breakout sophomore record, Ignorance Never Dies for the first time in North America with a long-awaited tour is the realization of the band's goal to completely revolutionize the hardcore scene around the globe. - more on this story

Singled Out: Todd Grubbs
(antiMusic) Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Todd Grubbs tells us about "The Electric Life" from his latest album "Time Space and the Electric". We now turn it over to Todd for the story:

After I finished my first CD "Combination" I started to record my follow up with Mark Prator on Drums and Sean Malone on bass. I got as far as doing the drums, bass and scratch guitar tracks on 4 or 5 songs when I decided to focus my attention on a more potentially lucrative direction. I spent the next few years working on projects that I thought were more commercially viable but never really achieved anything financially or artistically. I then decided to go back to composing and recording the music that I loved and put out 2 new instrumental CDs.

When I started working on my 4th I remembered the old tracks and went back 10 years later and transferred the 2 inch tapes to protools and went to work. On a couple of the songs I finished them close to the original but on what became to be "The Electric Life" was completely rewritten to the old drum and bass tracks and what was once a mediocre metal track became one of my favorites. I added some effects such as an electrical storm, electricity sounds and even Thomas Edison himself. I also included a chorus of vocals that uses a made up language that was also included on a song called "Ma La Vo Day" off of my 'Beautiful Device' CD.

There is still a lot of crazy guitar throughout but the older I get the more I am interested in composition, unique melodies, and sounds. My next CD "Return of the Worm" is even stranger.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
