Gary Moore 'Definitive Montreux' 2DVD/CD Set
Eagle Rock is the hub for capturing spectacular sets at the Montreux Jazz Festival and bringing them to the home entertainment market. On February 23, they will deliver another helping of Gary Moore when the Definitive Montreux 2DVD/CD set hits stores

Not long after the release of Essential Montreux, the 5CD set released in July 2009, Eagle is ensuring that Gary Moore fans get the ultimate live Montreux experience. Jam-packing four hours of music into this pristine package, this 2DVD/CD set extracts highlights from 5 concerts, ranging from 1990 to 2001. Prominently displaying his unmatched guitar style, mastery in both rock and blues, and his straight-from-the-soul stage prowess, Definitive Montreux features classic hits such as "Parisienne Walkways," "Still Got The Blues," "Out In The Fields," and "The Stumble."

Arguably one of the best rock and blues guitarists to come out of Ireland, Gary Moore, mentored by Peter Green, studied the likes of John Mayall, Jimi Hendrix, and Elvis to develop his versatile sound. He did time with Colosseum II, Skid Row, and the legendary Thin Lizzy before establishing his successful solo career in the 80s with his wailin' brand of rockin' blues. He eventually developed a solid relationship with the celebrated jazz festival. As evidenced by Definitive Montreux, Gary Moore and Montreux are truly a perfect pair, and the Swiss festival is the perfect stage to showcase Moore's unparalleled talent.

Johnny Action Figure Release New Album
Johnny Action Figure self-released a brand new, full-length album titled Good Eye on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Since their inception in 1999, their bright and melodic pop rock music has grown in both lyrical and musical complexity.

Consisting of vocalists / guitarists Chris Sheehan and Brendan Fullam (sharing duties), bassist / vocalist CF Fullam, and drummer Brad Rittle, Johnny Action Figure uniquely blends modern and classic sounds, and their wide range of styles and influences come together on Good Eye.The album's sound has been compared to artists across the spectrum, from Elvis Costello, Steely Dan, and The Beach Boys; to contemporary bands like The Shins, My Morning Jacket and Elliott Smith. Each song on the album stands remarkably on its own, all while Johnny Action Figure's signature three-part harmonies maintain an incredibly imaginative vocal balance.

"One of the qualities that we think differentiates our music from other bands' is an appeal that spans generations of listeners," said Sheehan. "Some bands might be too 'abrasive' to an older crowd, while others might be too lacking in 'immediacy' for a younger crowd. We feel like our music doesn't have those generational boundaries."

Look Mexico Announce Album and Tour Dates
Look Mexico will release their sophomore album To Bed To Battle March 23, 2010 on Suburban Home Records.

To Bed To Battle was written and recorded this past summer in Look Mexico's former hometown of Tallahassee, FL. With the converted basement of a local pizza shop dedicated as their studio space, the band was able to take their time throughout the recording process, experimenting with and expanding their sound, and adding new instrumentation such as electric piano, organ, pedal steel, violin, cello, and horns.

The resulting album - which deals with struggle and pressing on in the face of adversity - is an incredibly catchy, diverse yet cohesive set of ten songs. To Bed To Battle ranges musically from anthemic pop/rock and explosive ballads ("You Stay. I Go. No Following," "Until The Lights Burn Out?"), to alternately edgy and dreamy math-rock ("No Wonder I'm Still Awake," "Time For You To Go Do Your Own Thing"), to blistering, barreling modern rock ("I Live My Life A Quarter Mile At A Time," "They Offered Me A Deal (I Said No, Naturally"), and even acoustic, chamber pop-laced Americana ("Take It Upstairs, Einstein"). - more on this story

Ion Dissonance Working On New Album
Montreal extreme metal purists, Ion Dissonance are currently holed up at .357 Productions with Ion guitar player, Antoine Lussier (who also produced Emmure's latest) at the production helm.

The new effort is tentatively set for an early summer release and fans can expect a more refined and streamlined approach that just goes straight for the jugular with a frenetic assault of the band's trademarked mathematic brutality.

Kevin (vocals) further states: "So we are currently wrapping up our third week in the studio. The drum tracks have been completed and we are now halfway through recording guitars. Everything is going a hell of a lot better than we could ever expect. As a result, we are all stoked beyond belief at how retarded these new tracks sound. - more on this story

Downchild Celebrates 40th Anniversary With New Release
Linus Entertainment announces an April 6 release date for I Need a Hat, the new CD from legendary blues group Downchild, with U.S. distribution by E1 Entertainment. The new album marks Downchild's 40th anniversary and includes special guests film/TV star Dan Aykroyd (aka "Elwood Blues") on harmonica, blues-rocker Colin James and roots music all-star Colin Linden on guitars, and Stax Records legend Wayne Jackson of The Memphis Horns on trumpet.

The inspiration for Dan Aykroyd's and the late John Belushi's fabulous creation, The Blues Brothers – they recorded Downchild's "Shotgun Blues" and Walsh's "(I Got Everything I Need) Almost", the latter shortlisted as one of Canada's Essential Songs in a survey conducted by the Toronto Star in 2007 – Downchild is an institution in their homeland, and revered by blues fans around the world.

Downchild remains a true blues force, 40 years after founder and guitarist Donnie Walsh first put the band together with his late brother, "Hock." For Donnie, the epiphany to become a bluesman hit him hard in the early 1960s, when someone dropped a Jimmy Reed album onto the turntable at his girlfriend's 16th birthday party in suburban North Toronto.
