Bret Michaels in Diabetic Rehab
(Sleazeroxx) Bret Michaels is recovering at a private facility that specializes in the rehabilitation of diabetic patients after his emergency appendectomy Monday.

"While the surgery went well and doctors are optimistic that the rocker will make a full recovery, the fact that he was exhausted due to his rigorous schedule prior to the surgery and coupled with the fact that he has diabetes, the surgery has taken its toll," his rep tells PEOPLE in a statement.

"Even for non-diabetic patients the recovery from surgery can be long and painful," the statement continues. "Doctors were amazed at how good of health Bret was in being a 47-year-old diabetic. However the main focus and concern right now is that he is able to rest, recover and maintain good blood sugar levels while doing so." - more on this story

Antagonist Heading Into The Studio
Antagonist has completed preproduction for their new album and will enter Buzzbomb Studios in Orange, CA on May 12th, with producer Paul Miner, who has worked on past efforts from Terror, New Found Glory, Thrice, Throwdown, among others.

The band will be tracking ten songs for the as-of-yet untitled follow-up to 2008's "Exist." This will be the first recording featuring new members, guitarist Roland Leonard and bassist Nick Reyes.

Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented on the forthcoming album: "This will be the first album to feature our newer lineup, so the songwriting will be noticeably different in some areas; nothing too out of left field, but definitely some vibes different from the usual Antagonist sound. But we promise lots of shred, lots of circle pits, and lots of groove. Probably the biggest difference this time around will be the clean singing (or lack thereof). This is a very pissed off album lyrically and thematically, so we thought it would only be proper to NOT include any clean singing this time around. I know some of you won't like that, but it's something we felt would be necessary to hopefully get our point across. - more on this story

Smile Empty Soul, Soil and Black Sunshine Add Dates
Smile Empty Soul have announced more dates to their trek with Soil and Black Sunshine in support of their new album "Consciousness". Frontman Sean Danielsen has checked in with the following update from the road:

"We're sitting here in Toronto and ready to rock our neighbors to the north. This is the best tour happening right now, so come to the shows or die now!"

Smile Empty Soul recently released their "More Anxiety" album with a bonus DVD of live, in studio, and on the road footage through FOF Label Group/EMI. The album was recorded as the follow-up to the group's gold certified debut, but was never released because the album's lead single was protested by fundamentalist groups, who organized a letter writing campaign against the group's record label.

Reissues of Classic Albums From Concrete Blonde and Billy Squier Announced
Shout! Factory will be reissuing two seminal albums originally released on Capitol Records, Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting, and Billy Squier's Don't Say No. Both albums have been remastered and include rare and unreleased bonus tracks. Bloodletting will be released July 13, and Don't Say No will be released July 27.

Massachusetts-born Billy Squier had interest in music from an early age, going on to attend the Berklee College of Music and playing in the group Kicks with Jerry Nolan of the New York Dolls, The Sidewinders, and the band Piper, which opened for KISS at Madison Square Garden, and got him his first recording contract. His solo debut, 1980's "The Tale of the Tape" was released in 1980 and didn't spawn any hits, however the track "The Big Beat," has been sampled over the years in hip hop songs.

Don't Say No, Billy Squier's landmark 1981 album, gave us the mega-hits "The Stroke," "My Kinda Lover," and "In the Dark." Arguably his best album, Don't Say No reached #5 on Billboard's album chart. Produced by Reinhold Mack (Queen), the album went on to sell over 3 million copies in the U.S. alone. Squier was the personification of '80s rock, with an array of arena rock anthems and power ballads. His combination of rock and pop proved to be a huge success and was able to reach an even wider audience thanks to heavy rotation on brand new MTV. Squier now lives in New York, and continues to tour and release new music. This long-overdue reissue features 2 bonus tracks, live version of hit songs "The Stroke" and "My Kinda Lover," recorded during a 2009 tour.

Misguided Aggression Announce Gigs With The Agonist and Threat Signal
Misguided Aggression have added tour dates this weekend with The Agonist and Threat Signal. The band will perform on April 16th in Brantford, Ontario with The Agonist and then join Threat Signal, Bloodshoteye and The Last Felony on April 17th in St. Catharines, Ontario for Niagara Metal Fest.

Misguided Aggression is currently writing new material for the group's upcoming sophomore effort, which is expected to surface in late 2010 through Year of The Sun Records.

"We've started writing new material and we have about six songs ready to go," commented guitarist Randy Allcock. "Our debut album was great and it represented where we were at the time, but our new material is a lot more complex and it has bigger hooks. We're consistently trying to raise the bar for ourselves, because almost every band out there is either messing with auto-tune or write nothing but breakdowns. We just want to make a good solid metal album devoid of any trends."

Alcest To Invade North America
France's Alcest have announced an April 20th North American release date for their latest full-length opus, entitled Ιcailles de Lune (Prophecy Productions).

This news comes on the heels of the group's very first North American tour–a string of intimate club dates this April and May commencing in Quιbec and culminating in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ιcailles de Lune is, in many ways, unique from past Alcest albums. Story-driven and reflective, it aims to capture and channel feelings of ambivalence and existentialism. Stylistically, front man Neige has shifted back towards the sound of Black Metal that helped first shaped his compositions. For all the changes incurred, Neige has kept his trademarks: calm passages, massive walls of guitar, catchy melodies and hook-lines that go straight for the heart. - more on this story

Singled Out: Look Mexico's You Stay. I Go. No Following
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Look Mexico tells us about "You Stay. I Go. No Following" from their brand new album "To Bed to Battle". Now here is the story:

There came a point, a little over a year ago, that we all finally became fed up with all the people who promised so many things yet delivered nothing. Of course, you encounter many people like this in life, but when it comes to music it seems like everyone wants a piece of the pie, no matter how small or individually sized that pie is.

It's hard to ignore someone when he or she insists he or she has something you need. Most the time (almost all the time), they don't. And they won't. So on behalf of the band, I wanted to thank all these individuals for everything they did for us. Absolutely nothing. I know it sounds harsh, but it's more of a growth as a band, saying "we'll take it from here," than a lash at anyone in particular.

The line "Credit where credit's due, now the Bureau is looking for me" is specifically talking about the huge pocket of debt we've sunk into. Spread over several cards in my and Smith's names, the band debt can get a little difficult to manage. One of the cards was sent to debt collection and the Credit Bureau came-a-lookin' for me. We've since consolidated everything and are working towards paying it all off, but we've got a ways to go.

Overall, the song is basically a big venting session. Not an "F You" by any means. Perhaps, instead a three and a half minute "good riddance."

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
