PR reports: Swiss post-metal goliath Kruger will be starting the recordings for the follow-up to the highly praised "Redemption through Looseness" this September. The band comments that the album should contain shellacking mid-paced grooves with epic double-kick assaults while bourbon-soaked microphone screams reply to thick riffing wreckage. More info will be posted as it becomes available and the album should be out spring 2010 through Listenable Records.

howling wuelf reports: The Moore Brothers will be undertaking their first extensive U.S. touring of 2009, supporting the release of Aptos their fifth full-length release. Aptos was recorded by their friend and mutual fan Kelley Stoltz and Kevin Ink at the Studio That Time Forgot and later with Stoltz alone at Dead Chuffed Studios, both located in San Francisco. Special guests include Joanna Newsom on harp and Ben Parke on backing vocals. The album is being released on the Oakland-based American Dust label. I'm hoping you'd consider advancing their show with a feature, CD review or advance blurb. Aptos differs subtly but significantly from its predecessor Murdered By The Moore Brothers. It's more produced with Greg and Thom Moore being joined by the rhythm section of Neal Morgan on drums and bassist Jun Ohnuki though still very understated. Their signature tight vocal harmonies, rich acoustic guitar work and fine, weird and quirky writing remain the music's defining characteristics. The striking CD booklet artwork was created by William Stout who was the illustrator of the "Trademark of Quality" bootleg LPs released in the late '60's (williamstout.com). Brother Thom got to know him when working as babysitter to the young Stouts in the late '80s

Rocket Science reports: Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic have been giving their ever-loyal fanbase a sneak preview of 'Vivarium' bit by bit. First, with the free download of 'Lightspeed' and now with the new video for single, 'You're Turning into John Wayne'. The latter is a track that front man Sam McTrusty describes as being about "the way American culture is everywhere. So much so that loads of bands put on fake American accents in hopes to be more commercially viable in the US, while it was important to us to stay true to our roots and just be ourselves." Having toured with bands such as Taking Back Sunday, the boys have established quite a following overseas, and now they are ready to bring their music to the states. With soaring guitars, solid songwriting, and a very prominent Scottish accent, it is difficult not to be drawn in at first listen. 'Vivarium' is slated for release on September 15, 2009 through Red Bull Records

Brandweek.com reports: The Beatles will get a little help from new corporate friends on Sept. 9 when EMI Music embarks on the global launch of its digitally remastered Beatles catalog on CD to coincide with the release of videogame The Beatles: Rock Band. It will be hard to miss the push this fall as Restoration Hardware, Starbucks, Whole Foods, Ralph's, Pathmark, 7-Eleven and Blockbuster all promote the CD collection. The label sees the move as a chance to use an artist with major muscle to open up new channels for the sales of CDs since record stores are becoming about as extinct as the 8-track tape. The Beatles—a notable holdout on iTunes—have the broad appeal that opens retail doors.

PR reports: For the past three years, Tommy T (Thomas T Gobena) has been the bass player for gypsy punk powerhouse Gogol Bordello. Tommy was born and raised in Addis Abada (Ethiopia's capital city) and the knowledge of global rhythms he brings to Gogol's sound has become part of their unclassifiable approach to music making. With the encouragement of his Gogol Bordello band mates, Tommy has produced his first solo effort, The Prester John Sessions. An aural travelogue that ranges freely through the music and culture of Ethiopia, the album is a collection of 11 songs including a remix of the track "Oromo Dub (Cushitic Dub)," featuring fellow Gogol Bordello band mates Eugene Hutz and Pedro Erazo and mixed by Michael Goldwasser of the Easy Star All-Stars. The Prester John Sessions will be released exclusively via iTunes on October 13, 2009, with the wide release at traditional retail outlets everywhere on November 10, 2009 via Easy Star Records. "In the 70s, funk, wah-wah pedals, and jazz had a huge impact on Ethiopian music," Tommy explains. "The Prester John Sessions will give people an idea about the musical diversity of Ethiopia, which includes influences and ideas borrowed from the sounds of the 70's with the added bonus of up-to-date production values." Tommy discovered the story of Prester John in Graham Hancock's book The Sign and the Seal. "Hancock was looking for the Biblical Ark of the Covenant," Tommy says. "His quest led him around the world, from the Middle East to Europe and back to Ethiopia." In the 12th and 13th centuries, Prester John was an unknown Christian king with massive troops that got the attention of European kings. Prester John is the character I use to symbolize the man who will bring Ethiopian culture to the rest of the world."

Legacy Records has come up with a great idea here and a way for fans to get a heavy Woodstock-era dose of their favorite performer perhaps without wading through music by acts theyre not into.

The song borders on pedestrian and has more in common with pop stars than their rock counterparts which is perfectly fine…but they cant complain with the Hall of Fame comes out with a padlock so large it will forever remain locked and no amount of picking will ever open it.
