John Paul Jones Talks Zeppelin Reunion and Them Crooked Vultures
Rock Radio reports: You might have thought we'd heard the last of it after Led Zeppelin's one-off reunion in 2007. Nevertheless, rumors are back to haunt us after singer Robert Plant said yesterday he had a slot for Glastonbury 2010 if he wanted it – only he didn't know who he might play a set with.

But Them Crooked Vultures look to have put paid to them nasty rumours, because Led Zep bassist John Paul Jones says he's "really happy" with his new supergroup, also starring Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age).

Jones reveals there were indeed plans to hit the road after he, Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page reunited in December 2007, with dead drummer John Bonham replaced by son Jason. Jones tells the BBC: "Jimmy and I rehearsed a bit with Jason Bonham and we couldn't really agree on singers and that fell by the wayside. Then this [Them Crooked Vultures] came along and to be honest, I'm really happy." - more on this story

Guns N' Roses recently announced that they will hit the road in Canada in January and February of next year. But support acts for the outing were not mentioned at the time. Now we know Danko Jones will join them for the 13 date outing. But they won't be alone.

Chris Cornell Scream Track Remixed To Rock Without Timbaland
FMQB reports: Chris Cornell's latest solo album, Scream, received mostly a confused reaction from fans of the Soundgarden/Audioslave singer. Cornell recorded Scream with R&B/Hip-Hop hitmaker Timbaland with electronic beats and production, and aside from a club tour behind the album, Scream quietly came and went early in 2009.

However, Explore Music's Alan Cross has revealed that some Canadian music types have been re-working the tracks from Scream into Rock songs.

Michael Friedman, who works in Los Angeles in music licensing and placement, told Cross, "I heard some 'Black Hole Sun' greatness deep within some of the songs...." Read more and grab a listen to the results - here

Marillion Return With Less Is More
Kayos reports: For 23 years, UK progressive maestros Marillion have built a solid career crafting unique and thought-provoking music. On December 8, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release their latest studio album Less Is More.

A band with an abundant musical history, Less Is More is an acoustic re-creation of their vast back catalogue. These eleven stripped down tracks, accentuated by soaring melodies and haunting rhythms, evoke a listening experience that is deeply moving and powerful.

Considered to be one of the founding bands of Neo-Progressive rock, Marillion finalized their line-up in 1988 with charismatic lead singer Steve Hogarth (formally of The Europeans). Joined by guitarist Steve Rothery, keyboardist Mark Kelly, bassist Pete Trewavas and drummer Ian Mosley, Marillion consistently defy preconceptions and dodge trendy labels. Having released nine studio albums, some of which have been released on their own label Intact, UK's Classic Rock Magazine has deemed the band "an enduring and undervalued treasure."

Athlete Album and EP Releases Set
PR reports: Since bouncing to prominence seven years ago with the spirited, electro-tinged, indie-pop of their Mercury-nominated debut, Vehicles And Animals, Athlete have established themselves among the UK's finest songsmiths. The southeast Londoners have sold more than a million copies of their three hit albums (the other two being 2005's Tourist and 2007's Beyond The Neighbourhood); packed out venues across the world; picked up an Ivor Novello award; and topped both the UK's album and airplay charts.

Athlete is now set to return with their finest work to date, Black Swan, which will be released early next year on Original Signal Recordings in the U.S. In advance of the release of Black Swan, Athlete will release their first single "The Getaway" as a digital EP on November 3rd. On the same day, the band will arrive in New York for a special one off U.S. performance to preview the album live at the Bowery Ballroom, Nov, 3.

Black Swan is a musical summary of everything Athlete have been through; the good, the bad and the ugly. But although its songs burn with literate emotion, this certainly isn't a downbeat record. In fact, the album begins with the hurtling FM rush of the glorious track, "Superhuman Touch," which catapults the album to life with the opening line, "I'm on fire and nothing's gonna hold me back."
