antiMusic reports: We told you last Friday that AC/DC were forced to postpone several dates on their current world tour because frontman Brian Johnson "recently underwent a medical procedure and at the advice of his doctor is taking some time to rest." Some rumors floating around speculated that he was having throat problems but on Wednesday the man himself posted an update on the official AC/DC website to fill fans in on what is going on. Here is what he had to say: "It's an inside job that forced me to reschedule those upcoming 6 shows! Inside being the operative word here. My insides were giving me lots of trouble, ulcers and such. They were really uncomfortable and painful, which required me to seek immediate medical attention. "The doctor's looked me over, poked, scanned and prodded all possible areas. In the end they gave me a clean bill of health, but insisted that I take a bit of time to recuperate and rest up. We've been touring non stop since this time last year and have a lot more touring to do. Thanks for all of the get well wishes and I hope to see you all again very soon."

Rock Radio reports: Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has explained the 'non invasive surgery' he recently underwent was related to his ongoing struggle with cancer – and that everything has gone fine.Hamilton was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2006 and made a full recovery, but recently missed shows on the Boston heroes' abandoned US tour in order to receive treatment against radiation therapy which helped kill the disease. He says: "I love the expression 'non invasive surgery'. I've rarely heard anything as brilliantly vague and at the time it's exactly what I wanted to convey. Let's just say that old prick Mr C needed to get hit in the nose a few more times. He must not have liked it because he hasn't been seen."

Kayos reports: On October 20, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Vision subsidiary, will release ZZ Top's Double Down Live, the first historic concert performance ever to be approved for release by the band. Clocking in at just under two hours, this double dose disc delivers twenty-eight years of hard rock, blues, and boogie – ZZ Top Style! Disc one, filmed in 1980, is dubbed "DEFINITELY THEN" and is packed with 22 early ZZ Top classics from their Tres Hombres and Fandango! albums, including: "La Grange," "Tush," "Cheap Sunglasses," "Tube Snake Boogie," and more, many of which remain in their live set to this day. This concert was captured at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany for the Rockpalast TV series. The concert took place hot on the heels of the release, 30 years ago, of their classic Deguello album (it features 9 of the 10 songs from it). The show found ZZ Top in the era prior to the band's discovery of sequencers and synthesizers and epitomized the down 'n' dirty take no prisoners attitude of "that lil' ol' band from Texas" nickname. To this day, this disc is a true best of ZZ Top in the seventies. Disc two, subtitled "ALMOST NOW," was shot during their European tour in 2008, includes 11 performances, interview clips, and backstage footage to create the ultimate ZZ Top on the road movie.

PR reports: The current members of Candiria have learned the sad news that original Candiria guitarist, Chris Puma, passed away last week, on September 20th. The band has issued the following statement: "Chris Puma died on September 20th 2009. The cause is not known to us, as his family did not speak of it. He leaves behind two children, 3 year old Aislinn A'marie and a 4 month old Aidan Todd. Chris was a great friend to the founding members of the band, and a respected musician among his friends and peers. He was a kind and gentle person and he will be missed." Puma was one of the founding members of the band, playing guitar in Candiria from 1992 to 1997, while helping to create the unique sound that Candiria is known for today. He can be heard on such Candiria records as Deep in the Mental (1995) and Surrealistic Madness (1995).

antiMusic reports: The fans spoke and Metallica listened. The band announced this week that fans will be able purchase individual songs from the Metallica live download site. Here is the announcement: "When we launched www.livemetallica.com over five years ago, it seemed like the next logical step of service in the digital age as we've always encouraged you to record and trade our shows. The site gives us the chance to offer you a high-quality recording of the show you went to, or any other show for that matter, and you don't even have to sneak your tape deck, um uh, we mean portable digital recording device, into the arena! So here we are 269 shows, 5,338 songs and 310,386 downloads later and we want to thank you for all your support, encouragement and comments. Lo and behold, five-plus years later and no two set lists have been the same! Wow!!! "Speaking of those comments . . . the one overwhelming request we've had is to offer up single-track downloads. Since we always aim to please, YOU GOT IT! That simple. Check out the new and improved LiveMetallica.com and you'll see that every song we've recorded live since the site launched from Phoenix on March 2, 2004 is now available for you to pick and choose from for $.99 each song on mp3. For the über-fan, of course the full show can still be downloaded for a dough-saving $9.95 mp3 . . . super-audiophiles can grab the high-quality FLAC version for $12.95 a full-show download.

PR reports: Europe's leading secondary ticketing company, viagogo, has polled its customers to establish the top stories behind interrupted gigs. The Doors topped the poll with their interrupted gig at the New Haven Arena in 1967: front man Jim Morrison was arrested on stage by local police for breaking the state's obscenity laws and inciting the crowd to riot.A 2007 Bloc Party gig in Utrecht, Holland came a very close second in the poll: the band was forced to stop playing when the crowd spotted a couple having sex in the audience. Suitably distracted from the gig, the audience felt inspired to have a go themselves and couples throughout the auditorium started having sex, prompting the band to slink off stage. In third place is Britney Spears' April 2009 gig in Vancouver: Britney stormed off stage 15 minutes into her show, later claiming that the auditorium was too smoky for her to perform and she was uncomfortable with the number of fans smoking marijuana in the audience. When the gig finally resumed 40 minutes later, Britney told the crowd not to smoke weed.

antiMusic reports: Sevendust have begun work on their next album and offered an update to fans about where they are at in the process and who is involved. Here is what they had to say: " We've been writing and recording demos with Corey Lowery engineering, which have been amazingly productive and creative, over the past few months. We wanna thank Corey for making a very cool atmosphere for us and helping us achieve the material we needed. We look forward to continuing work with Corey in the future. We've have hired on Johnny K(Disturbed, Staind) to produce the next Sevendust record. We've enjoyed his work over the years and believe he is the guy for the job. This record is VERY important and we have some of the best songs going into this process than we ever have. We read your comments on here and we believe you will not be disappointed. We still have a ways to go but we hope to have it out by spring next year. We will be up in the Chicago area for the rest of the year working on it and are ready to peel faces off with this thing. It's a very creative time for the band and being back to the original line up will reinstall the elements that made us what we are. Thank you for your support and cannot wait to put this recorded out.

PR reports: Having just finished up their tour with Down (including a stop-over at All Tomorrow's Parties), grunge godfathers The Melvins released their punishing remix record Chicken Switch this week via Ipecac Recordings. Unlike traditional remixes, Chicken Switch is a collection of re-named remixes (or perhaps it makes more sense to call them mash-ups?) that cull from entire Melvins' albums as the source material. The result is 15 new tracks that include so many bits and pieces of classic Melvins sludge that it's hard to tell the original songs from which they came, and this is not a bad thing. And who better to create these noise masterpieces than some of the band's favorite noise masters? Remixers include Eye Yamatsuka (Boredoms), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Matmos, Merzbow and many others who are well-suited for the challenge. Grab one of the album's slightly dancier tracks

PR reports: On October 20, Blue Note Records will release Spilt Milk, the stunning debut album from singer Kristina Train. After a run of opening dates with Chris Isaak last month, Kristina will be hitting the road again in the coming weeks opening for Keb' Mo' and Susan Tedeschi, giving audiences around the country an early chance to hear her perform the affecting songs from her debut in a live setting. "In showbiz you need flashy costumes and talent," said Isaak. "I have the flashy costumes, Kristina has the talent! She is really an amazing singer. I am a fan like everybody else who hears her voice… She is that good." With Spilt Milk, Kristina—who was born in New York City and raised in Savannah, Georgia—has made an urbane, soulful, and lush debut that showcases her stunning voice. As a vocalist, she alternates between gentle balladeering and powerful belting, her bluesy vibrato revealing the breadth and elegance of a young Dusty Springfield — a little bit London, a little bit Memphis.

PR reports: The concept of mixing rock and roll music with string arrangements is nothing new, but with the release of Hollands second EP, Mother, on October 13th one can only marvel at the sonic beauty orchestrated between the pounding drums, driving guitar and elegant and complimentary violin and cello parts often emphasized by distortion and other effects. Moving from the guitar-riff laden opening track, "Air Conditioned Heart" to the closing song, "Dirty Rum," a soft, folk-esque contemplation of the brokenness of death, Mother is an exploration deep into the mind of John-Paul Norpoth, the lead songwriter for the group. Over the summer the band received some great coverage for their first EP, Faces, including, Short and Sweet NYC and Insomnia Radio, and now they will be performing on an upcoming episode of Fearless Music Television.

"His exciting and charismatic visual style is complimented by a unique and charming musical vision. Danse Macabre is proud to add this extraordinary artist to its roster."
