At The Gates 3-Disc DVD Set Coming
Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates are set to release "The Flames of the End," a brand new 3-disc DVD set, through Earache Records.

At The Gates released their definitive album, "Slaughter Of The Soul - often regarded as one of the all-time greatest metal albums - on Earache in 1995, before touring the world and abruptly disbanding. Members of the band went on to play major roles in other notorious metal acts such as The Haunted and Cradle Of Filth, before reforming for a one-off tour in 2008 to rapturous response.

Now, to celebrate At The Gates' massively influential career and historical reunion tour, the band will be releasing "The Flames of the End," an extensive, in-depth and definitive 3-disc DVD set on February 22nd, 2010. - more on this story

MxPx Punk Rawk Christmas
MxPx are digitally releasing a 14-track Christmas album titled Punk Rawk Christmas through their label, Rock City Recording Company on December 1.

This special holiday offering has been over 10 years in the making; one punk-carol classic released each year (sometimes two) to their PxPx Fan Club for over a decade has now been packaged along with one new original track, "Punk Rawk Christmas" and the soon-to-be-classic punk cover of "Auld Lang Syne."

This year marks the band's 17-year anniversary and in celebration they have already released an album of covers, On The Cover II in addition to an EP, Left Coast Punk, their first original release in more than two years. Lead singer/bassist Mike Herrera explains the bands decision on now adding in a full-length Christmas album, "This year there was just enough songs to make for a nice, robust holiday album. Any more would be too much, any less would be…well, you get the idea." Longtime fan favorites such as "Christmas Day," "You're The One I Miss" and "It's Christmas and I'm Sick" are wrapped up alongside the previously unreleased "Punk Rawk Christmas". About the title track, Herrera says, "I was sitting at the studio writing and thinking of how bad the economy was. Then I came up with the idea of Christmas itself being broke and 'on a budget' hence, Punk Rawk Christmas was born." Adding to the Christmas list of hits, MxPx has added their version of, "Auld Lang Syne", because, "we wanted to do at least one cover, but didn't want it to be too weird and cheesy. ALS seemed perfect. It was fun and we did it in one afternoon; what I call the punk rock 101-style of recording."

Pierce The Veil Sign Up Paramore Producer For Their New Album
Pierce The Veil have been relatively quiet since the conclusion of last winter's Taste Of Chaos but that doesn't mean they haven't been making noise. The San Diego quintet have been writing and recording demos at a home studio for the follow-up to 2007's A Flair For The Dramatic.

"When we got home from Taste Of Chaos, we set up our home studio here in San Diego and started working on the new album," Vic told Alternative Press in September. "We haven't taken any breaks or any time off. It's just been straight writing every day as much as we can."

Pierce The Veil will enlist Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches) for the role of producer and record at his studio in Los Angeles in December and January. "His records sound amazing and he is a very down to earth and passionate person," Vic explains of their decision. "We wanted to work with someone that has the same love for what they do as we do. We have 100% confidence that we can make a very special album with Mike." - more on this story

Lee Harvey Osmond Delivers A Quiet Evil
Lee Harvey Osmond's "acid folk" was born in an old garage off Clinton Avenue in Toronto. A Quiet Evil, the debut CD began as a musical collective featuring singer/songwriter Tom Wilson (Blackie & The Rodeo Kings) joined by members of Cowboy Junkies and Skydiggers, among others.

Friends were enlisted to fill out songs as needed, and it wasn't long before Tom Wilson had not only a new record on his hands, but a new band.

Produced by Michael Timmins and released on Cowboy Junkies, Latent Recordings, Lee Harvey Osmond's A Quiet Evil joins the group's hypnotic rhythms with dark, brooding lyrics. Wilson's latest creation is gaining a slow and study buzz.

Lee Harvey Osmond's, Tom Wilson struck Canadian rock gold in the '90s as the leader of the much loved Junkhouse, and then found a whole new audience as a crucial component of roots-rock supergroup Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. Wilson released solo albums in 2001 and 2006, and his 2005 collaboration with Bob Lanois, The Shack Recordings, was critically acclaimed. Says Wilson, "It's my favorite thing I've ever done in my life," he says. __"I'm 50 years old and starting a new band," he adds with a laugh, "it's the craziest f**king thing you can do, but it's also the most exciting thing you can do. And the response so far has been overwhelming." - more on this story

US Plague Tour Stop Moved To New Spot
The "US Plague Tour", featuring Marduk, Nachtmystium, Black Anvil, Mantic Ritual, and Merrimack that was scheduled to stop at the Key Club on Friday, December 4th, has been moved, due to the Key Club closing it doors to re-model. The new location for the show, is the Salon Royal (Royal Hall) in downtown, located at 8637 South Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90002. Parking is provided, with an entrance through the "Steel and Lube" entrance.

A statement from Jordan of Church of the 8th Day, the promoters for the show: "Since everyone has been asking, what and where the Royal Hall is, I wanted to explain, and send something out to clear things up. The Key Club canceled the show, about two weeks ago, leaving us just a few weeks to move it. Since we had two stages worth of bands booked, it was near impossible to move the show to anywhere in Hollywood, at a reputable club, as everything was already booked.

"We found a place in downtown, which is a banquet hall, and we are going to build it into a venue from the ground up, with two full stages and great sound, full bar, and a BBQ. There have been numerous events held there, including the Bestial Legion Fest. If you purchased tickets through one of the local bands, your tickets will still be valid at the new venue. If you purchased your tickets through TicketMaster, you should be receiving your refund any day. The Key Club said they will be issuing refunds, but they haven't been responding to us about the progress of it, so if you'd like to call and find out, go ahead. You can now purchase tickets exclusively through our new ticketing website, 8thDayTix.com. We're sorry about the confusion, and hope to see everyone there." - more on this story

New Music Company Releasing Julian Lennon's Lucy
Tapping the reach of the Internet and a power-shifting business model, musician Julian Lennon and digital pioneers Michael Birch and Todd Meagher today officially announced the launch of theRevolution LLC, a full-service, artist-focused, music services company.

On December 15, the company will mark its first release with the four-song EP Lucy, featuring the same-named title track written by James Scott Cook and Julian Lennon. Produced by Todd Meagher, the lead single "Lucy" is Lennon's first single in close to a decade.

Lennon initially planned only to sing background vocals on the song, but before its completion he learned that his childhood friend Lucy Vodden had passed away after a long battle with lupus. With some lyric changes the decision was made for the song to be a duet between Lennon and Cook. By remarkable coincidence, Cook told Lennon that Lucy was also the name of his 92-year-old grandmother who has been living with lupus for years. Seeking to honor the memory of both women, a portion of the proceeds from the single will be donated to two charities, St. Thomas' Lupus Trust (www.lupus.org.uk) and the Lupus Foundation of America (www.lupus.org).

The EP – inside of which buyers will discover a fold-out copy of Julian Lennon's original watercolor drawing of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" – features two versions of "Lucy," the studio track and an acoustic version. There's also Lennon's slow and sentimental song "Beautiful," which will appear on his full-length album Everything Changes, to be released in 2010, and Cook's song "Sober," which will be on his own eponymous album next year. RED Distribution (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) is providing manufacturing, retail distribution and radio promotion for the EP, and the title track will initially be available for download online exclusively at iTunes until the first of the year, which will also make a donation to the lupus charities. VH1, YouTube, MySpace Music and Yahoo Music have all agreed to support the video release.
