PR reports: ABKCO Records has set June 23rd for the digital and CD release of the soundtrack album to the motion picture I Love You, Beth Cooper that is destined to be the most highly regarded soundtrack of the summer. The 20th Century Fox film is directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Home Alone), and will be in theaters everywhere July 10th. The soundtrack album features an eclectic collection of contemporary and classic recordings including music from Gym Class Heroes, The Hives, OK Go, The Perishers, The Kooks, Airbourne as well as KISS, Alice Cooper, Foreigner and Smokey Robinson. The soundtrack's songs play an integral role in the film's narrative, perfectly interwoven throughout to reflect I Love You, Beth Cooper's fun, action and emotion. Music heard on the ABKCO soundtrack sets off the story, which chronicles the story of a nerdy valedictorian who proclaims his love for the hottest and most popular girl in school Beth Cooper during his graduation speech. Much to his surprise, Beth shows up at his door that very night and decides to show him the best night of his life. "Heroes'" Hayden Panettiere is the high-school hottie and Paul Rust portrays the love-struck dork.

Metal Blade reports: Behemoth will release their newest album "Evangelion" on August 7 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and August 11 via Metal Blade in US. "Evangelion combines a pure art form with a direct message. It was also important for us to ensure that the graphical presentation did justice to the record. Again, we have worked with Tomasz Danilowicz who has created his best illustration yet for Behemoth. The picture is of The Great Harlot of Babylon riding the seven-headed beast. Saints bow before her in worship whilst the tablets of the Ten Commandments lie broken at her feet. It represents our vision and the interpretation of the New Testament parable where the "Whore of Babylon" is a symbol of rebellion and resistance against God. I am fascinated by stories whose source lies in the Bible and we have used biblical symbolism, coupled with my own experience and outlook, in our lyrics or on the covers of previous Behemoth records. I love to juggle with meanings and play around with symbolism which is exactly what I have done in this case. The main character of our new cover is an archetype of disobedience, individualism, self-determination and a free, unfettered will these are universal keywords which are typical and crucial in understanding the character of our works, life as a whole and the true nature of man." Commented Nergal.

PR reports: La Coka Nostra is proud to announce a July 14 release date for their debut full-length album, A Brand You Can Trust. This is the group's first release on Suburban Noize Records. LCN features Mr. White (Everlast, House of Pain), DJ Lethal (House of Pain, Limp Bizkit), Danny Boy (House of Pain), ILL BILL (Non Phixion), and Slaine (Special Teamz). The album features special appearances from no less than Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Bun B, Psycho Realm, Immortal Technique, Q-Unique & the Alchemist!! LCN MC Slaine commented on the upcoming release: "When we first started recording tracks for La Coka, we knocked a lot of joints out at once, and there was a lot of hype and buzz around the project and the group. We started leaking those tracks to feed the hunger that was out there, but in the meantime, I think we raised the bar and created an expectation level within the group to really make a dope record. While we were on the Bring Tha Noize tour, I had the headphones on and listened to the final version of the album sequenced, mixed and mastered, and bugged out at how good it is. This shit bangs. We set out to make a boom bap hip hop record, and we did that, but to stop there would be selling it short, because lyrically, musically, and sonically this album doesn't fit in a box. This summer the world will finally hear what the fuck is really going on with La Coka Nostra." Following several European tour dates this July, LA COKA NOSTRA will be making several appearances at this summer's Rock The Bells tour, which features Nas, Damien Marley, The Roots, Busta Rhymes, Common, Big Boi, KRS-One, House of Pain, Tech N9ne, RZA, GZA, Raekwon, and more!

PR reports: Brighton-based singer Astrid Williamson returns with Here Come The Vikings, due June 2 on One Little Indian U.K. This marks the fourth solo outing for Williamson, whom The Guardian says "oozes songwriting class." "Shut Your Mouth," the first single off Here Come the Vikings, is the #1 most added song on the Triple A Radio charts this week. Here Come The Vikings is a 10-song collection that veers across rock and pop. Departing from her previous, softer solo sets that Maxim called "a deep, bewitching brew," this new album has its foundations in the electric guitar. "Every album I've made has tended to fall outside of current musical trends," explains Williamson. "I was losing 10 BPM every album, so I thought I'd plug in and sort things out." Williamson, a multi-instrumentalist and classically trained pianist, writes, produces and arranges everything she records. Here Come The Vikings features longtime collaborators Richard Yale on bass, Christian Parsons on drums, Mark Treffel on keyboards and the new addition of guitarist Steven Parker. Guest appearances include Nick Powell from Oskar, Belle and Sebastian cellist Sarah Wilson and trumpeter Guy Barker, who has played with Frank Sinatra and Nile Rogers.

PR reports: On July 21, Austin rockers The Steps will release Take It All In, produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith (JET, Dandy Warhols, Explosions in the Sky). The EP distills the band's 60's influenced garage rock to its most potent and frenetic form.Taking their amps from the garage to suburban rooftops and downtown bridges, the brash four of The Steps demand to be heard. PR reports: Born in Hackney, East London, to Ghanian parents, thecocknbullkid (no gaps, all lower case) aka Anita Blay is not the most conventional of pop stars. Fortunately, this does little to slow how rapidly the 23 year-old is establishing herself as one of 2009's brightest pop hopes. She has spent the past three years exploring all manner of influences (from Moz to Madonna, M.I.A to Little Richard), forging a wholly distinctive sound, and marked an official career "kick off'" with her debut UK single, a collaboration between Anita and Metronomy founding member Joe Mount, which was released on Metronomy's 7" label last year. thecocknbullkid's style, it should be said, resides firmly on the dark side of pop. There's an almost Trojan quality to it -- Anita's ever-expanding repertoire is a subversive, sometimes sinister, and always-sublime mix of sex, death, ugliness, wit and depravity, found amidst the everyday, and pegged onto supremely inventive pop melodies. "I've always thought pop should never just be saccharine" she says, "It should be black and tortured too. There's no point otherwise." Up until now, thecocknbullkid has been busy working up an arsenal of sonic ideas into fully fleshed out tracks. Her first EP, "Querelle", will be released on August 4, 2009 in North America on IAMSOUND Records.

When I heard that Booker T had recorded an album with Drive-By Truckers, I couldnt wait to hear it. It didnt take long for me to realize that my anticipation was warranted. It is a flawless blend, and its a shame no one thought of it earlier. (5 stars)

Many critics would hunt this number like a vulture, but as a wolf among the flock, I can verify Death Valley Dragline provides the fundamental nutrients needed for proper production when growing plants of the groove/Southern farm.
