Why You Can't Get Good Concert Tickets At Face Value
antiMusic reports: The Lefsetz Letter posted a must read rant last week which should anger any concert goer who plays by the rules because it appears you may be getting screwed by Ticketmaster (that's not new news we know). Here is part of that editorial: I had a long conversation with a promoter who told me that with regard to a show he was promoting, Ticketmaster was guaranteeing the secondary market for the act.

Let me explain this to you. A certain number of tickets are pulled from the manifest and ultimately sold on TicketsNow. Ticketmaster guarantees a certain gross payment to the act for these tickets, far in excess of the usual payment per ticket. If the tickets don't sell at the predicted high prices? Too bad for Ticketmaster.

Blame the acts for this. Ticketmaster Is taking the heat. It bothers me that the traditional press and concertgoers are too stupid to see the truth here. Irving said at the House hearing that only 80-85% of the tickets to a show are ever sold by Ticketmaster. The question is, where do the remaining 15-20% go? - Read on

Ashlee Simpson Cast In Melrose Place Rehash
antiMusic reports: Bad news folks, Hollywood is scraping the very bottom of the barrel. Not only are they turning more and more to inferior remakes but they are remaking inferior films and TV shows. The latest blast from the past that should have stayed in the past is Melrose Place which will is set to feature Ashlee Simpson. The CW will reportedly air this monstrosity to compliment their ubberlame rehashing of another 90s era Fox nighttime soap, Beverly Hills 90210.

MTV confirmed the report of Ashlee Lipsynch Simpson-Wentz's participation. The poptart "confirmed to MTV News that she will be taking up residence on the revamped 'Melrose Place' this fall. "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of 'Melrose Place' and look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents," Simpson-Wentz said.

Iron Maiden Manager Says Riot Reports Overblown
BW&BK reports: Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood has issued the following statement regarding the band's Bogota, Columbia show on Saturday, March 7th where it was reported that fans had caused a riot, clashing with police forces and breaking into private areas.

"The news from Bogota is wildly exaggerated," says Smallwood. "We are now in beautiful Quito for a show tomorrow. Everyone is just fine. The 'riots' were basically a lot of kids trying to break into the Simon Bolivar Park to see the show and the park has a big perimeter to protect. There is a large military presence for all concerts in Bogota as can be seen in our forthcoming movie Flight 666. However in the last 13 months we have played 2 fantastic concerts there to over 75,000 passionate fans at this same venue, Simon Bolivar Park. Neither performance was at all affected by the incidents of people outside trying to break in. None of the enjoyment of the show or safety of the band or our audiences was at all compromised.

We abhor the inane behaviour of a small minority of people outside. They do Iron Maiden, Metal and the real Colombian fans a disservice and sadly just provide a reason for the military to feel they need to be there. - more on this story

Oh No Not Stereo Week: Day 2
antiMusic reports: Oh No Not Stereo's new album '003' hits stores this week and to celebrate we asked Sky Nielsen (vox, gtr, etc) to give us the inside story to five favorites from the effort. Here is Sky with today's song "Something New":

"Something New" is a song that Mykul [Lee (drums)] wrote in its entirety. This song is an anthem about not giving up on what we're doing, not letting anything get in our way, and rolling with the punches. The message shows we're all about being a working band, "making it," and still being uncompromising with the integrity for our music.

We want to get out and be heard and play music for lots of people. Some people give us the attitude that any success we gain is guaranteed to be the end of us right away. This song is about moving past the bullshit, looking through the transparencies of people who only believe in you when you're huge, and promoting the preservation of your direction and purpose.

Preview songs from the album, learn more about it and the group and more right - here!
